Chapter 200 Blast of power
Chapter 200 Blast of power
Lyra’s POV
The Demon King takes a step forward.
His monstrous form towers over me like a nightmare drawn straight from the dark depths, looking like a twisted Demogorgon. His black hide cracks with glowing veins, and the lower half of his terrifying face splits wide into a horrific jaw lined with hundreds of razor-sharp teeth. The awful smell of rot and copper hangs in the air as he stretches out his clawed hand, his thick fingers heading straight for my face.
"Get the absolute hell away from me!" I scream at the top of my lungs, thrashing my head back against the wall.
Yaros lets out a mocking laugh. "Oh, I am going to have so much fun breaking you, little bird."
He lowers his claw just an inch, his glowing red eyes scanning my face with a terrifying intensity. "I have been waiting for this moment for hundreds of years. Every single time you reincarnated through the centuries, your slippery Phoenix spirit managed to hide your presence from me. But not this time."
Reincarnated?
Then I remember my dream then. The one where the king killed his baby. He said she'll be reincarnated.
That baby was truly me. I am Lyrastra. I was born centuries ago, and my realnparents have been dead for hundreds of years.
Yaros steps closer, opening his jaw wide as he leans down, preparing to sink his razor-sharp fangs into my neck.
"No! Stay back!" I shout, tears of pure terror stinging my eyes as his scorching heat touches my skin. He keeps inching closer, his heavy breath suffocating me, until suddenly he stops mid-air.
A fierce, angry scowl distorts his monstrous face. His glowing eyes fixate on the mark on my neck, and he suddenly jerks back, letting out a loud, furious roar that makes the chains on me vibrate.
"You've been marked! You bitch!!" Yaros roars in pure rage. He raises his hand to hit me, but a voice stops him.
"Don't you dare fucking touch her!"
My head snaps to the corner. Kai is wide awake, his dark green eyes burning red as Vlad fights fiercely against his skin. His powerful muscles strain violently against the iron chains binding him to the chair, fresh blood dripping down his chest as he glares straight at the demon king.
Yaros turns his massive head toward Kai, a dark, wicked smirk pulling at his terrifying jaw. "Awake finally? Good. This is the absolute last time her Phoenix spirit will ever stop me, Lycan Prince. Even if she is bound to you through the moon goddess's mark, I will still win."
A suffocating dread grips my heart. I look up at the demon King in fear. "What... what are you going to do to me?"
"I am going to steal your Phoenix essence completely," Yaros purrs, his voice dripping with pure malice. "I will strip every ounce of divine power from your blood and use it to strengthen my darknss. And once you are completely powerless, you will be nothing more than a frail, regular fox."
A demon guard steps out of the shadows, holding up a glowing stone that glimmers with a strange, dark magic.
Yaros grabs the stone and holds it up in front of my face. "This is a Kryptonite stone, little bird. An ancient artifact designed specifically to drain and transfer energy from one host to another. Once I pierce your skin with it, you will be left completely powerless."
Pure, unadulterated terror grips my body. "No... please..."
I start thrashing wildly against the heavy iron, pulling with all my might until the metal bites into my wrists and bleeds. Suddenly, two giant demon guards step forward, slamming their heavy hands onto my shoulders and pinning me flat against the cold stone floor.
"No! Let me go!" I scream, tears pouring down my face. "Kai!"
"Let her go, you bastard!" Kai shouts desperately, pulling so hard against his bonds that the stone chair behind him cracks. He stares frantically at Roman, his eyes bloodshot and full of pain. "Roman! Save her! If you ever truly claimed to love her or care for her safety, stop the demon right now!"
Roman stands still, looking at us silently. He doesn't move. He doesn't do anything. He just stands there, looking guilty. A wave of sorrow and betrayal weighs heavy in my chest.
"Goodbye, Phoenix," Yaros sneers.
Yaros violently drives the glowing Kryptonite stone right into the side of my neck.
The moment the stone sinks into my skin, a violent, blinding surge of white pain shoots through my entire body, feeling like a million volts of pure electricity tearing through my veins.
“Ahhh!!!”
A loud, painful scream escapes from my lungs, bouncing off the dark cave walls. Deep inside myid, Wyndra lets out a shriek, her spirit thrashing as my Phoenix spirit is getting ripped away from my soul.
My vision goes completely white, and my muscles convulse as I feel every single drop of my ancient power draining rapidly out of my body and sinking straight into the cold stone.
Kai’s POV
The pain that ripsthrough my bond with Lyra is unlike anything I’ve ever fucking felt. My mate is being stripped of her essence and I’m forced to watch, unable to do anything about it.
The moment he pierced that weird weapon into her neck, I watch in terror as her body arches off the floor and a deafening scream shatters the air.
Every single drop of her pain slams directly into my soul through our mate bond, scorching my veins like liquid fire.
"No! LYRA!" I scream at the top of my lungs, my voice breaking raw as Vlad roars in torture inside my head. I struggle against the chains, feeling the iron dig into my wrists, tearing my skin and spilling blood down my arms. "Let her go, you bastard! Take me instead! Fucking take me!"
Yaros ignores me and forces the stone deeper.
Then suddenly, a bright light erupts from Lyra’s chest, completely destroying the darkness of the dungeon. The intense radiant force burns my eyes, but I keep them open, refusing to look away from her.
From the center of her chest, the silhouette of her Phoenix rises into the air. The divine bird spreads its blazing wings, letting out a shriek so insanely loud that the walls, the floor, and the ceiling vibrate violently from the force. The bird continues to scream as she is being ripped away from Lyra’s soul.
Yaros laughs as he drains her spirit. "Yes! Surrender your essence to me!"
I strain against my bonds until they crack, completely powerless to save her. But just as the monster is about to completely pull the last drop of her Phoenix spirit out of her body, someone steps forward.
Roman lunges forward with speed and swings a blade straight onto the Kryptonite stone in Yaros’s hand.
The translucent stone shatters into a thousand pieces, severing the stream of magic instantly.
"NO!!" Yaros roars furiously, his head snapping toward Roman.
Before the demon king can even reach Roman, a huge burst of energy shoots out from Lyra’s floating form, spreading in a blinding blast of destruction.
The pressure wave from her blast of power hits like a tsunami. The demon chains snap, and I'm flung back, hitting the stone wall. I collapse onto debris, my breath crushed and ribs rattling. After a few seconds, it stops, and Lyra’s body falls limply to the ground.
I’m anout to rush to her side when the cave begins to crumble. Everyone screams and tries to find cover as tons of huge rocks fall down upon us violently.
For a few minutes, everything goes dead silent, except for the crackle of falling rocks and the thick, gray dust hanging in the air. I groan in pain as I shove a hive rich off my bleeding legs. I manage to get up on my hands and knees, my bloodshot eyes searching the wrecked chamber through the haze.
A few feet away from the altar, Lyra's stepsister, Daisy’s hand sticks out from under an enormous, fallen pillar. She is completely crushed, her lifeless eyes staring blankly into the dust. She is dead.
Nearby, a weak moan echoes from under a pile of rubble. Marina coughs up dark blood, her legs pinned under a boulder. She looks up at the towering figure of Yaros, who remains completely unharmed amid the falling debris.
"Master..." Marina whimpers, her voice trembling with desperation as tears flow down her cheeks. "Master Yaros... please. Please save me..."
Yaros doesn't even look down at her. He steps over her trapped legs. "You are completely useless to me now, foolish girl."
"I am now a hundred times more powerful! And I will eat every single living soul in this wretched kingdom! And it is a wonderful stroke of luck that this prison lies beneath the academy grounds. I will start by slaughtering every pathetic student!"
Without another word, he dissolvesninto a swirl of black shadow and smoke, disappearing right in front of my eyes.
"Lyra!" I yell as panic seizes my chest. I run over the broken rocks, completely ignoring the sharp pain in my ribs. "Lyra! Where are you?!"
My heart is pounding like crazy against my ribs, and terrifying thoughts keep running through my mind, like she's been crushed under the falling mountain. I dig desperately through the stone with my bare hands, throwing heavy rock after heavy rock aside.
"Prince Kai..." a weak voice cries out from beside me.
I pause, turning my head to see Marina staring at me, her eyes wide with fear as more loose rock falls, threatening to bury her completely. "Prince Kai... please save me. Please don't leave me here..."
I glare down at her treacherous face.
"I hope your ass burns in hell, bitch," I say to her flatly.
Marina screams out in horror as a huge chunk of the ceiling collapses, crashing down and burying her completely until the cavern goes silent. Good. I was going to kill her anyway. I glance around the dusty room and suddenly notice that Roman has completely disappeared, but I don't care right now. I'll get that bastard later.
I throw another rock aside, and my breath catches in my throat.
Lyra lies on the dusty ground, her silver hair sprawled across the dark stone, completely still.
"Lyra!" I drop to my knees beside her, rushing to cup her pale, cold face. I lift her upper body into my lap, pulling her tightly against my bleeding chest. "Lyra, baby, Open your eyes for me! Please, flower, wake up!"
