Chapter 111 Chapter 111
Sienna
The last test was the easiest of them all but the Elders didn't know it. Elias shifted back to his human form much more easily than he’d shifted to his wolf form. Trust my cub to be a fast learner.
His eyes met mine and I gave him a subtle nod to let him know he was doing great. I almost laughed at the excited expression in his eyes. He was going to ace the last test, and he knew it.
If there was anything Mara, my mom, and I had to struggle to keep Elias away from while he was growing up, it was fire. He had always been attracted to the flames from the first time he set his eyes on them.
When Braem took a step back and commanded one of the warriors to light the logs, it was all I could do to not scream for joy. The last test, and my baby would finally be free of these people.
I met Cecelia's eyes. Then Vaughn’s and lastly, Braem's. I would be tested next, but by all means they could bring it on. I didn't spend all those time training with Mara and working at her shop for no reason.
I was even fairly certain I could interfere and alter the tests to my favor without them knowing.
If I really wanted to.
Luckily for them, I didn't. I wanted to earn my place by Logan’s side all on my own. “Fan the flames,” Braem commanded Elias. He lifted his arm, wincing slightly before steadying the grip on his abilities.
“I’ll ensure he gets a full body massage,” Nessa comforted me, noting the pained expression on my face. Both her and Livia had released their grip on my arm after I managed to put myself together. We watched the flames from the log grow bigger and stronger, until it was casting an orange glow all over the clearing.
The Elders expected Elias to lose his grip but instead, the flames lifted and formed a circle above our heads, and I didn't think it was a coincidence that it touched the tip of each Elder's hair, setting it on fire.
Logan chuckled beside me as they hurriedly doused it, shooting daggers at him as though he was responsible. The flames vanished into thin air and a still, small silence descended over the clearing. A second later, it was pierced with the sound of the pack erupting before us.
Cheers, howls, laughter filtered into my ears as each of the Elders gave an impressed nod. Logan drew me to himself and I pressed my face into his hair, inhaling the scent of him. Our cub was safe. It was almost over.
A small weight crashed into us and I stepped aside to let him lift Elias up in the air. He ruffled his hair, pressing to his head wherever he could find. “We're so proud of you,” he breathed. I cupped his cheeks when Logan set him down and he came to me.
“Well done, hun.”
Vaughn cleared his throat. “We still need to put Sienna to the test.”
Cecelia stepped beside him, holding my gaze. “A cub cannot be separated from his mother. He has passed his tests and earned his place as the ruler of the pack. I think it goes without saying that this is where she would be too.” A grateful smile lifted the corners of my lips. “Besides, I think she would be no match for our tests, given the cubs performance.”
Braem faced the crowd. “What do we think?” he asked them. “Tests or no tests for her?”
Their response was immediate. “No tests!” Logan and I locked gazes as their chants increased in volume. “No tests! No tests! No tests!”
My eyes stung but I held the tears back.
They were finally accepting me.
Vaughn nodded at the others. “It is settled.” he beckoned Elias and me and we stepped forward to meet him, standing on either side of him. “Members of Iron Fang Pack!” he bellowed, addressing them. “Behold your queen; Queen Sienna Draven of Iron Fang, and your future ruler; Prince Elias Draven of Iron Fang!”
I immediately sought out Logan, who was staring at us with suspiciously glistening eyes.
The atmosphere moved from being tense to being ceremonious. The Elders placed our crowns on our heads (I hadn't even known they'd had these from the start) and performed the initiation rites that would seal our places in the pack.
I gave Elias a kiss on the cheek when it was all over. “Nessa will give you a massage and bring you back home.” Logan stepped in, taking his hand. His dark eyes met mine, the exhaustion in them glaring obvious. Still he said,“I’ll go with him.” I nodded once, relief relaxing my shoulders as I began making my way to the pack mansion.
I needed a hot bath to take the edge off.
The Elders were already on their merry way back to wherever they had come from. Neither Logan and I wanted their overbearing presence mixing with the celebrations and I was sure they understood. I'd spoken briefly with Cecelia to thank her for what she said, startled when she'd pulled me for a hug.
Could she remember how hostile and unwelcoming they'd been to me in the beginning?
We weren't anywhere close to being pals but it was a start.
I stared at my reflection as I stepped into the tub. I still couldn't believe it and had to pinch myself for good measure. It wasn't a dream. I was Queen.
Queen Sienna Draven.
There was one person I wanted to share the news with and I made up my mind that I would head over to Mara's pack first thing in the morning and fix things. For the first time in a long while, things were genuinely looking up. The bathroom door opened and I caught Logan’s gaze in the mirror as he stepped inside.
A thrill ran up my body.
He was naked.
