CHAPTER NINETY SEVEN - AERON

CHAPTER NINETY SEVEN - AERON
“What?” Juan snarls.

Ezekial holds his hand. “Let me finish.” He says. “Lycans are your future. We all know this and yet every time a Lycan is born, it has never made adulthood.”

“Never?” Rosalie gasps.

Ezekial shakes his head. “Too many are threatened by a Lycan to allow that to happen.”

“Our pups will be different.” I state.

“Yes, they will.” Ilsa says. “I have seen it. I have seen a new line. A new Royal Line.”

My eyebrows raise. So does Juan’s. He looks across at me but I can’t read the expression on his face.

“There has not been a Royal Line in hundreds of years.” Cain says.

“But there will be.” Ilsa states. “We will have a new era. One of living openly with humans. And the Wolves will be ruled by a Lycan King. Your first born will start that rule.”

Rosalie glances up at me with a look of fear and apprehension. She searches my face trying to see if I’m okay with this.

“So how does this benefit us?” Juan asks. “You will supplant all the other Alpha’s, steal their lands for your new King?”

“No, Alpha Juan.” Elder Mab says. “You will remain an Alpha of your pack. We will not be removing Alpha’s, but the Lycan King will rule over you.”

Juan narrows his eyes muttering.

“And what’s more, your daughter will be mated to the Lycan King.” Ezekial says.

“No.” Rosalie half shouts. “I will not allow that…”

“Relax, Luna.” He replies looking to Ilsa and nodding.

“It will not be by force. I have seen that too.” Ilsa says.  “Your firstborn is destined to be mated with Juan’s daughter by will of the Moon Goddess.”

“But my daughter is already twelve.” Juan says.

Ilsa smiles. “Not Sophie.” She says. “Your mate will bear you more pups this year. It is of this litter that the Lycan King’s mate will be born.”

Juan lets out a huff, shaking his head. “How do I believe this? It could all be lies to get me to agree.”

“The Supernatural Council does not lie.” Ezekial says.

Juan shakes his head more and folds his arms.

“When will this happen? When will the humans learn of our existence?” I ask.

“Soon.” Elder Mab replies. “We are in talks with their leaders now. Needless to say it has taken them a little by surprise.” A few of the Council chuckle at that.

“So how are we splitting the Crimson Shadow’s Lands?” I ask.

“I believe you and Alpha Juan came to an agreement after the last time we met.” Ezekial says.

I nod. We had drawn up lines, boundaries but nothing had been finalised after his demands for one of my pups.

“Then we are happy to honour that.”

Juan looks about us all. “I want reassurances. I want to know that this isn’t all some trick.”

“Let me show you then.” Ilsa says stepping out from the table.

Juan lets her walk to him, and she takes his hands almost amused by it. He shuts his eyes. The pair of them do, and we all wait as she shows him whatever it is he is promised.

“Happy?” She says as they break away.

He clears his throat, his eyes look dazed like he’s half drugged but he looks about and then finds Rosalie. I take a step closer, just a small one and Juan looks at me.

“Do you agree?” Ezekial asks.

“Yes.” Juan replies.

“Then it is done.” Elder Mab declares. “Alphas, Luna, you will send word when your pups have been born. We will draw up the treaties and on their eighteenth birthday they will ascend the Lycan Throne.”

The entire room seemed to watch us, watch my Mate. I growl out my ascent before taking Rosalie’s hand and leading her from the room. Cain follows behind.

None of us speak. We all walk in silence as though we are too stunned to say anything.

When we get back to Rosalie’s room she lets out a small exhale and then turns to face us.

“You okay?” I ask her. She looks pale. She looks shell shocked.

“Was I too assertive back there?”

Cain lets out a laugh. “You were fucking hot.”

Her eyebrows raise. “Seriously?”

I engulf her in my arms. “You were perfect. The way you spoke, the way you fought for our pups.”

“I meant every word I said.” She states.

“I know.” I reply. “And I’ve never loved you more than in that moment.”

“What? Why?”

“You were all alpha female.” Cain says grinning.

“You were so protective of our family.”

“What else did you expect?” She says.

I kiss her, my hands twisting in her hair, my tongue swirling with hers. She moans into my mouth, her body melting against mind.

“I love you, Rosalie. You’re so fucking perfect.” I murmur.

She blushes looking from me to Cain. “I love you. Both of you. And I love our pups already. I don’t care if they’re Lycan’s or humans, or what they are. I would love them just the same because they’re ours. Our family.”

I grin wrapping my arms around her and Cain hugs her from behind.

Our perfect fucking family. The family I always wanted. The family Cain always wanted too.
