CHAPTER EIGHTY SEVEN - ROSALIE

CHAPTER EIGHTY SEVEN - ROSALIE
He hasn’t come back. I guess I should be grateful for that. That at least he’s decided it’s futile to continue fucking me rather than force me to endure it just because he can.

I’m laying on the floor, staring at the bare walls. Perhaps, if I were more concerned for my own wellbeing, I would have requested a better room. An actual bed. But I’d rather this was how it was. I’m a prisoner after all. I’m not going to pretend otherwise, even for the sake of small comforts.

Lira hasn’t come back. I feel a pang of guilt because I know Knox has hurt her. Perhaps I should have been kinder to her but still, she wasn’t helping me, she did the bare minimum.

A She-Wolf brought me food. She looked more than a little frightened as she appeared, and she pretty much tossed the bowl onto the floor, before running.

I ate it but as soon as the food hit my belly, I was puking it back up as if something in it was poisonous and as my gut wrenches, my fear spikes that that is his new plan. To force me to miscarry. But I don’t know how I can fight that? I can’t simply not eat.

I shut my eyes, trying to calm my thoughts. I don’t know much about being pregnant, but I suspect the state I’m in can’t be good for my pups.

I call out to Aeron. I call out to Cain. In my head, I’m telling them I’m carrying their pups. That we finally got it, our dream. Only, this isn’t the dream, is it? None of us planned for it to be like this. Me slowly growing fatter in some distant cell and eventually giving birth, without either of them beside me.

And I don’t know what Knox will do with my pups once they are born. If they are born. They’ll be a threat to him. They’ll be a living representation of everything he stole from me.

I whimper, wrapping my arms around my belly, mourning already for a life I’m so afraid I’ll never have.

The door opens and I look up. It’s a She-Wolf. An older one. She’s stood staring at me as I stare back.

“Who are you?” I ask. My voice sounds so hoarse from lack of use.

“Marissa.” She says quietly, as my eyes widen.

Luna Marissa. Knox’s mate.

“Why are you here?” I ask. Wouldn’t she rather be in the Packhouse, pretending none of this was happening? Pretending her mate was someone decent.

She sighs, her face looking almost pained. “I can feel it. Every time he’s touched you. Every time he’s claimed you.”

“Do you want me to apologise for it?” I snarl.

She shakes her head. “No.” She says before glancing around the room with a look of disdain. “You would have thought he’d at least given you a bed.”

I laugh. It’s mocking. Is that really what she’s come here to say? To point out how shitty my existence is right now? Like I can’t already see it.

“He says you’re with pup.” She murmurs.

I nod.

“But it’s not his, is it?”

“No.” I say. “It’s Aeron’s.” I don’t know why I admit that part but it’s like something makes me. Like the mate-bond forces me to declare it.

She lets out another breath. It sounds more like a huff.

“You’d think the Moon Goddess would have been more kind.” She spits. “To give us lives like this. To force me to be mated to a Wolf like him. To let you, a Sullivan, end up like this.”

I stare back not sure what to say.

“Get up, Rosalie.” She says but I don’t, I just stay where I am because if I stand it feels more than likely that she’s going to attack me. That she’s holding me responsible for the fact her mate is an unfaithful piece of shit.

She walks over and before I can get away she hauls me to my feet. “Your fight is not gone yet.” She states.

“Excuse me?”

“I’m getting you out.”

“What?” I gasp. My eyes widening so much. This isn’t the Luna I knew, the one everyone spoke of.

“You thought I’d let you rot? You thought I’d blame you for the fact my mate should have been put down at birth?”

I can’t reply. I can’t formulate any words. My head just can’t process any of this.

She laughs just a little. “I’ve spent so many years taking his abuse, ignoring his adultery. I’m done with it. I’m done living my life in the shadows. I want out. And you, Rosalie, are going to help me.”

“How?” I say.

“If I get you back to your Alphas, will you vouch for me? Will you grant me safe haven in your Pack?”

I nod even though I don’t know if I truly can. But why would Aeron and Cain refuse her?

“Can you walk?” She asks.

“Yes.” Hell, I can run if that’s what it takes to get away from here.

She gives me a quick smile shoving a pair of trousers at me and I quickly yank them on. “Stick behind me. Keep your head down. Act submissive.”
