CHAPTER SEVENTY NINE - ROSALIE

CHAPTER SEVENTY NINE - ROSALIE
I’m walking through the Packhouse, back from the gardens, when I feel it again, that strange feeling that I’m being watched, followed. My hair stands up on the back of my neck and I scan around me, but I can’t see anyone.

I pick up speed, hurrying round the corner, anxious to find a friendly face and I slam straight into the hard, huge bulking mass of someone.

I fall back and hands grabs me to stop me from hitting the ground. As I look up, I meet the eyes of a Wolf, one I don’t recognise and something tells me he’s not from this Pack. Aeron and Cain’s Pack. There are other Wolves with him. Five in total and a figure hiding behind them that looks like a girl though in truth, it could be a feminine looking boy.

My heart thumps in my chest.

“Don’t touch me.” I snap, but he keeps his hands gripping my arms so I can’t get free.

He tsks in response. “How many humans do they have wandering these halls?” He asks looking back to an even larger Wolf.

My eyes widen in fear as I take him in. I don’t know how, but I know this Wolf is an Alpha. I can sense it. My body can.

“I think you’ll find this is ‘the’ human.” The Alpha Wolf says running his eyes up my body.

The Wolf holding me looks surprised. “This is her?” He mutters.

“The Sullivan girl.” The Alpha says, stepping nearer to me and nodding his head for the other to let me go, who does immediately though I can still feel the imprint of where his hands gripped me all the same.

I narrow my eyes looking between them. “Who are you?” I ask.

The Alpha smirks, stepping closer and my hair stands on end. “You could have been mine, little human. You would have made a fine mate, I’m sure, judging by the look of you and with the promise of Lycan pups too…”

I screw my face up. “Go fuck yourself.”

“Rosalie.” Cain says behind me.

“Alpha Juan.” Aeron says more forcefully. “I see you’ve met our mate.”

I gasp at his words. So, this is Alpha Juan? How did I not guess this? He seems like a creep. Why would my grandfather say he was a good ally if he behaves like this?

“I have.” Alpha Juan says inclining his head slightly to me. “I must say I am a little disappointed I did not meet her first.”

“Is that so?” Cain says pulling me back so that his body is in front of me, and I make a point of keeping my hand on him, wanting to feel the heat of him, feel it calm me.

The other Alpha studies the three of us for a moment before he smirks. “The Goddess is not always kind. Sometimes the fate she chooses is not the fate we wish for and yet, we must accept it.”

“Meaning?” Aeron says coldly.

“Meaning she is marked. I can see it, you have both claimed her. She is your mate solely now.” Juan states.

I feel both Cain and Aeron relax at his words, but I don’t. I don’t trust this Alpha.

“The Council are aware of who she is.” Juan says. “They have called a meeting.”

“Is that why you’re here?” Aeron asks.

“Yes. I thought it prudent to affirm my position before you had to deal with them.” Juan replies.

Aeron nods.

“When do they want to meet?” Cain asks.

“Now.” A girl says walking up to us all. Her hair is cropped short around her head like a pixie crop. In fact, her facial features make her look almost like a pixie.

She’s tall, lithe, beautiful, in a tight-fitting spaghetti strap dress that shows she’s not insecure in her looks.

“Carli.” Cain says quietly. “I take it they have contacted you then?”

She nods. “Yes, they want me to transport you straight away.”

I frown looking between them all. What the hell is everyone talking about? What the hell is going on?

‘Carli is the Pack Witch.’ Cain thinks.

‘Oh’. I think back, not able to come up with anything more intelligent. She doesn’t look like a Witch. She looks more like an angel.

“They are clearly not happy about this.” Juan states. giving my mates a hard look.

“In that case, we shouldn’t keep them waiting.” Aeron says.

“Would you like me to transport our guests as well?” Carli asks.

“No need. Lyrica is with us.” Juan says, jerking his head for the girl who’s been hiding behind them all to step out. She smiles at Carli before looking at me curiously like I’m a fairground attraction.

“Then let’s get on with it.” Aeron mutters, holding his hand out for me to take.

I look up at him and all I can feel is my fear. I know my mates will protect me but how far will that protection go with the Supernatural Council?
