Chapter 118 118

Chapter 118 118
Chapter 118

Alexander POV

...

The Titans charged like mindless beasts, driven by nothing but destruction. I glanced toward Draxler Vermon, and he gave me a slow nod.

That was all the confirmation I needed.

DOOM!

I exploded forward, becoming the first to plunge into the battlefield.

My target wasn't the Titans themselves.

It was the giants.

Several enormous giants stood deep within the Underworld's army, surrounding bizarre ancient magical devices. Their voices rose in unison as they chanted an incomprehensible spell, and above them, an enormous blue magic circle slowly spread across the sky.

Something about that magic was wrong.

Without wasting another second, I shot toward them at full speed. Reaching the nearest device, I spread both arms and tore the massive magical construct clean in half.

KYAAAKHHH!

The giants turned toward me at once.

Their enormous claws swept through the air, but to me they were unbearably slow.

Like a streak of silver light, I slipped past them, ripping one giant's arm from its shoulder before tearing another apart without slowing down.

The moment the device shattered, the blue magic circle veered off course.

Then...

BOOM!

An entire line of Titans vanished.

Not wounded. Not scattered. But erased without leaving a single trace behind.

So... This was what had destroyed my forces at the Northern Border. It wasn't because my soldiers had been weak.

They had been struck by this twisted spell — a spell capable of erasing anything in its path without warning.

The realization only fueled my fury.

My eyes swept across the battlefield, and I saw dozens of those colossal magical devices stretching far into the distance. Together, they had already formed a massive blue magic circle that covered nearly the entire battlefield.

If they completed the spell... Almost all of my army would disappear before they even had the chance to fight back.

"Disgusting!"

I despised this kind of warfare.

It only proved that the King of Darkness and the human king were nothing but cowards.

I lunged forward again, intending to destroy every one of those magical devices and slaughter every giant controlling them.

But...

BAM!

Something slammed into me with overwhelming force. My body was hurled backward, crashing into the ground hard enough to reduce the surrounding boulders to dust.

I immediately looked up.

A streak of black light shot toward me. And a massive claw descended, aiming to rip me apart.

I caught it head-on and drove my fist into its body.

The impact sent both of us flying in opposite directions, pulverizing every rock between us.

I rose to my feet, murderous rage surging through every vein.

The blue magic circle would soon be complete.

I had to destroy it before that happened. But the creature standing before me was strong enough to keep me occupied.

"Get out of my way!" I lunged at him, my claws aiming straight for his abdomen.

The creature stopped.

I couldn't pierce his flesh.

A twisted grin spread across his face. And the moment I saw it, I recognized him — Hugh Grant Raizel.

He had sold his soul and become one of the strongest Titans.

"Disgusting!"

Rage exploded inside me.

The hatred buried in my chest roared like an inferno as memories flooded back.

That sneer... It reminded me of the day he betrayed my father. Of how he slowly poisoned him to death. Of how I had been exiled as a child because of his greed.

He had done all of it for a throne that had never been meant to belong to him.

Today... I would erase him from this world.

"Kkkkkhhhkkk!" He slowly climbed to his feet, tilting his head unnaturally.

He no longer resembled a wolf. He had become a hideous black monster.

"You'll die..." he growled, his voice deeper and darker than before, as though madness had already consumed what remained of his mind. "Just like your father and mother... you'll lose everything."

"If I couldn't become King of the Werewolves, then I would destroy you and that kingdom... even if I had to sell my soul to the Demon King himself!"

I watched the enormous blue magic circle continue to expand across the sky.

In only a few more moments... The spell would activate.

I have to hurry!

I wasted no more time. Bursting forward at full speed, I slammed straight into Hugh Grant Raizel, my claws crashing into him with enough force to send him skidding across the battlefield.

"So you think you've become stronger just because you've bowed before a cowardly king who doesn't even dare show his face on this battlefield?"

"My foolish uncle..." My voice echoed across the battlefield as I stared coldly into his eyes. "Let me show you what true power looks like."

I unleashed my second transformation.

My eyes ignited with brilliant blue flames, while the crescent moon mark upon my forehead blazed with silver light.

The power I had restrained for countless years — the power sealed by my father ever since I was a child to keep it from destroying everything around me — was no longer bound.

The instant the seal broke... The earth beneath my feet fractured.

Cracks spread in every direction, and the very air trembled beneath the pressure of my aura.

Hugh Grant Raizel froze for the briefest moment.

Tilting his head, he lunged toward me again, murderous intent pouring from him like black smoke.

But...

CRACK!

This time, my claws tore straight through him.

His eyes widened in utter disbelief. It was the look of a man who had spent his entire life believing that my strength should have belonged to him.

"Even in death, you disgrace yourself... and the blood running through your veins."

I drove my arm straight into his chest.

"Die... and stop standing in my way." My hand closed around his heart.

Then I crushed it.

"Khk—!"

His breath stopped instantly.

But...

No...

The blue magic circle was already beginning to descend.

It was too late.

There wasn't enough time left to destroy it.

I turned toward my soldiers, watching them desperately fight against the endless tide of Titans.

Just as I thought the cursed spell was about to erase them...

BOOM!

One of the enormous magical devices exploded.

My gaze snapped toward the source.

Draxler Vermon stood there.

"AAAAAH! THIS THING IS DISGUSTING!" Valerian's voice rang across the battlefield as he destroyed another gigantic magical device with a furious strike.

I stood still for only an instant.

Then I lunged forward once more, tearing apart the remaining magical constructs before they could complete the spell.

When the last of the giants fell... The battle became nothing more than a contest of numbers.

I tore through the Titans one after another.

They were only slightly stronger than ordinary Titans. But something was wrong.

Every time I slaughtered dozens of them at once, their monstrous bodies crumbled to the ground...

Then slowly returned to their original forms.

Humans... They had all been humans.

My breathing grew heavier and My claws froze. I swept my gaze across the battlefield, searching for whoever was commanding them. But there was no sign of either of them.

The human king who had sacrificed his own soldiers by selling their souls... Wasn't here.

The King of Darkness who ruled the Underworld... Wasn't here either.

Something wasn't right.

Hah... Hah... Hah...

By the time the sun began to set, the battlefield had become a land of death.

The stench of countless corpses filled the air.

Red and black blood flooded the great chasm and soaked every rock scattered across the valley.

I stood alone among mountains of lifeless bodies.

Millions of Titans had vanished.

Thousands of my own soldiers had fallen alongside them.

Looking up at the orange sky, I felt the hot wind brush against my face, carrying with it a suffocating darkness that left nothing but emptiness inside my chest.

"I don't like this." The words escaped my lips almost unconsciously. "It feels like... I slaughtered them."

"Not a single one of them could stand against me."

"I felt less like a warrior..."

"...and more like hell itself."

Silence settled over me.

Titans... Humans whose souls had been sold... They all lay dead upon the same blood-soaked earth, their lives ending without meaning.

I knew that if my army hadn't attacked first, they would have invaded my kingdom instead.

Even so...

Something about this still felt wrong.

I wanted it to end.

"War always leaves grief on both sides, young king." Draxler Vermon's voice drifted toward me, calm and steady, as though he had seen straight through everything weighing on my mind.

I turned to look at him.

He met my gaze before quietly asking,

"What will you do now?" His question struck me harder than any weapon.

My brow furrowed as I looked across the battlefield once more, at the rivers of blood staining the earth and the countless bodies lying motionless before me.

There was no satisfaction. Only emptiness.

"The human king... The ruler of the Underworld..."

"I'll erase them both."

"If they remain alive, even more innocent souls will die for nothing." I lifted my gaze toward the horizon beyond the ruined battlefield.

"We're moving to the next gate. And we'll find them."

My voice remained low, but the resolve within it was absolute.

Draxler Vermon fell silent for a moment. Then a faint smile appeared on his face as he rested a hand on my shoulder.

"Just like my son," he said quietly, "I want the next king to witness this."

"So he understands that war never truly wins anything." His words were carried away by the wind.

Then, without another word, we began moving toward the next gate.

...

Author's Note:

Hi, everyone!

I've honestly never written a large-scale battle scene before, so I have no idea if it turned out too much, too little, or maybe even a little boring. 😭

I still have so much to learn, but I wrote this chapter with all my heart. I really hope you enjoyed it.

I'm sorry this story still has so many flaws, and thank you so much for staying with this novel from the very beginning.

Love you guys! 💙
