Chapter 51 Not A Coward
DONALD
I was seething with rage after that stupid Elijah left. The bastard thought he could beat me up and get away with it. He didn’t know who I was and what I was capable of.
It seemed it was time to show him what I could do.
He thought I didn’t have the power to bring down strong people like him but I did.
As soon as I knew he was out of my house and my pack, I got up and ran to my car, with one place in mind.
He would pay for embarrassing me and taking Adriana away from me. She didn’t complain that she hated being here but he still took her away and I was sure he was abusing her just as much. Even worse than I was treating her.
By the time I got there, it was nightfall and I knew they would all be there. It was a full moon tomorrow and they needed to go over the materials for the sacrifice and ritual.
I was naturally supposed to be here tonight but then Elijah came along. I was going to make sure he went down for what he did to me today.
I entered the room and they were all already seated. They were always punctual for meetings and I always came late.
“You are late, as usual,” the Grandmaster started.
“I have a reasonable explanation this time—”
“I doubt it.” I heard someone say.
I was sure it was Mark, that damn bastard I hated so much.
“Anyway, I was saying I had a reasonable reason for coming late. Elijah came to my pack today.”
The Grandmaster looked at me.
“What did he come to say?”
I quickly took my seat, desperate to tell them the details of his visit.
“He came to threaten me, saying we destroyed his pack and killed most of his people and he needed an explanation. I told him you had done all that and he said he would deal with you.”
“You told him what?”
“That you had done it. He also said he was mad that I told you he had kidnapped my daughter.”
The room was silent and everyone was looking at me. What did I say wrong?
“You said you told him we had attacked his pack? Weren’t you the one who brought it to our attention and begged us to attack his pack?”
“I did but you didn’t have to do it. You did it because you wanted to and I had to be the one to clean up your mess. He came in and beat me up, not you.”
“Quiet down,” the Grandmaster interrupted. “Donald, I don’t know what foolery you think you’re conducting but put an end to it. First off, you’re a coward. A damn coward who can’t take the consequences of his actions. Why didn’t you tell Elijah that you lied?”
Why were they pinning this on me? Weren’t they the ones who chose to attack his pack? If they didn’t want to, they should have said no.
I didn’t force them to do anything. They were the ones who got men and sent them to the pack.
“To make matters worse, you were nowhere to be found on the day of the attack.”
If Mark said one more thing to me, I swear I would knock his teeth out of his mouth.
“That’s all in the past. Speaking of Elijah, we have tracked down the wolf we’ve been looking for.”
My eyes widened in shock.
“Really? Where is she?”
This year was my year of taking the wolf’s powers. Every other year, they had been the ones taking the wolf’s powers and since I was the second to last member to join, I had to wait my turn.
The fact that they were born every hundred years wasn’t helping matters.
That bastard Mark had gone before me the last time and taken the powers when it was my turn. That was why I hated him so much.
“She is in Elijah’s pack. We have to plan how we would get in there and take her.”
Elijah’s pack? Out of all the places in the world, she just had to be there.
I was trying my best to avoid him as much as possible because I didn’t want to have issues with him. He was coming to my house a bit too much and I didn’t want him to beat me up again.
After the meeting, I went back home in thought. First, we would have to plan on how to infiltrate Elijah’s pack and then we would have to track her down specifically.
The fact that we knew where she was meant her wolf had been woken up and hopefully, she would do something that would make us know who exactly she was and then I’d take her powers and kill her.
I was the only one in that group who didn’t have the power of a special wolf. Everyone else had them because they had all killed a wolf in the past.
The last time was supposed to be my turn but that bastard beat me to it just because I came late. But nothing would stop me this time.
I would take those powers and be more powerful than all those bastards who looked down on me.
That was the reason I didn’t join them to fight wars. It’s not that I was a coward, I didn’t have the power yet. Unlike them.
As I entered the house, I could hear Landon and Lisa going at it again. They had been fighting for days nonstop and I was sick of it. I had more important things to deal with than whatever issues they were having.
So I just went into my room and tried to tune out their voices while thinking about what next to do to secure my position.
I was due for a promotion and no one would take it from me this time.
