Chapter 330 Love Turned Sour
ADRIANA
She stayed on the phone for quite a while, while I asked the maid to get me something to eat.
Maybe because I had rushed my food, I didn't feel like I'd eaten anything.
She got off the phone before I could get my food.
”What’s going on? What did he say?”
I could see the disappointed look on her face.
“He says the house is empty. It's like no one ever lived there. She packed up everything and left.”
What? Packed up and left?
“Why would she do that? How the hell didn't he see that she was leaving?”
”He said she must have done it in the dead of night. I don't know. I'll only run when I have something to hide.”
Did Alisha run?
Or was she forced into leaving?
With Alisha not in the picture, that just left a lot of loose ends untied. There were a lot of questions to ask her and now that she was MIA, there was no one to ask them.
“I need to see Tim. I'll be right back.”
Since I couldn't get to Alisha, I might as well speak to someone who might have known her.
I need to know if she was anything like Sandy had described her.
Tim was sitting in the far end corner of his cell and he stood up immediately he saw me. If asked Hazel to make his cell conditions better, giving him a proper bed, better food and making life comfortable for him.
I knew he was innocent but then I couldn't let him go until I had someone to take his place. In the meantime, I'll make life comfortable for him in the best way I could.
“My Queen, you came to see me.”
“Yee, I have a couple of things to ask you. But first, how are you doing? How're you holding up? Do you need anything? Are there any complaints?”
He looked around his cell.
“Not at all. Everything is good. I have to thank you though. It's because of you that all this is happening. Thank you. Have you found anything about Lucy?”
“We’re finding out a lot and at the same time, very little. I wanted to ask you about your wife's best friend.”
I could see that he looked at the chair in the corner but didn't say anything. He'd wanted me to sit.
“Tim, you can bring the chair. I'll sit in it.”
“Oh no, it's too dirty for you. Would the bed be better?”
Perhaps he didn't know that I had grown up in worse conditions.
“Tim, bring me the chair. You can sit on the bed.”
He eventually brought the chair to me and sat on the bed.
“You wanted to ask me about Alisha.”
“Yes, what can you tell me about her? I mean, you must know a few things.”
He sighed heavily.
“Ive known Alisha for years. I mean, she was at my wedding, my proposal, she's been with my family like a second wife. She's my wife's best friend. I mean, she was. Lucy trusted her and we often had issues because of her.”
“Issues? What kind of issues?”
I could see the hesitation before he answered.
“I didn't want her in the house. I didn't want Lucy to see her anymore. My wife and I met through Alisha. Alisha had issues with her car and I saw her by the road so I helped her out. She said she wanted to thank me so she invited me to dinner. The. Lucy walked in. That's when I fell in love..I couldn't get her out of my head but she left before I could get to know her. I didn't know how to ask Alisha for her number. Luckily, she invited me out again and Lucy came. I was used to having women interested in me but Lucy didn't even give me a second look after I introduced myself. That just made me want her more.”
I could see the love in his eyes as he spoke about his wife.
“I finally spoke to her and got her to go out with me. Then we started dating and then we got married. I went to Alisha to ask her to help me plan the proposal since she'd know Lucy the best. That's when she went off. She said that I had betrayed her and that I had gone for her best friend when I knew that she liked me. I had to straighten things out and tell her that I didn't see her that way and I never did. She didn't help me plan the proposal or the wedding. Neither did she attend any of them. Lucy was very sad but Alisha just told her that she had a work thing but she couldn't make it. I couldn't bring myself to tell her the truth.”.
It all felt like a revelation. Alisha didn't appear like that kind of a person. She was…cute. You'd never think that a person so innocent looking could do a thing like this.
“Is that why you didn't want her in your house?”
He laughed.
“That was just the tip of the iceberg. After that, she stopped speaking to me. Lucy noticed it and asked me about it and I told her I didn't know why. Then Alisha told Lucy that I had asked her out and tried to get her to sleep with me. Lucy came back home mad and we had a big fight. I spent three months trying to get Lucy to believe that I didn't do that but Alisha had manipulated her so much that she didn't listen to me anymore. She tried to break our marriage and Lucy even left the house but I wouldn't let her go. I showed her my phone and asked her to ask Lucy what date I asked her out and where we met.”
I was finally beginning to understand everything.
“I'm guessing that's where things went sour.”
