Chapter 311 Where is my Husband?
ADRIANA
It was already midnight.
When we got home and we put the flash drive into the computer, we didn't know how much work we had gotten ourselves.
Lucy saw a lot of people on a daily basis..it's no wonder why she didn't have the time for anything else..
She must have been handling a lot of cases.
First off, we isolated the people who were work related.
And then, we went on to the rest.
“There are still a lot of names and my back hurts.”
“You can either suck it up and let us do it now or you can postpone the work to tomorrow. And we will still do it then.”
She looked at me like she hated me.
“You try driving for hours.”
“I wanted to drive. You wouldn't allow me.” I argued.
“I said my back hurts, not that I wanted to die. Let's continue.”
We had to ask for Leo's help because along with her schedule and visitor log, Sandy had also given us a list of our clients and family who came to see her.
I put in my glasses and faced the computer.
“Okay so we have Alisha. We can rule her out as family. And then we have…”
I looked again just to be sure.
Hazel brought her head closer.
“What is it?”
“I have a Tobias Hanes here. Tobby can be short for Tobias, can it not? I'll red flag his name and come back later.”
We finally finished searching through the entire file by morning.
“I’ll go get us coffee. And maybe a bell to keep me awake.”
Hazel barely managed to drag herself out of the room. I could understand why she would be very tired. Having to drive all that distance wasn't easy.
I turned to Leo even though I wasn't sure he was listening.
“I need to know the days Tobias came to see her so that we can track her movements.”
Left to me, I would have gone back to the first day I saw Tobias' name and then I would have written every date down but since Leo was here and he was so smart, he quickly did something on the laptop and helped me isolate all the days.
In the last three months, Tobias had come to see her fifteen times. That seemed like a lot of time to be spending with a married woman.
This time around, I had his surname and picture so I could look for him properly.
Hazel came back with coffee for me and tea for Leo.
“You’re still a kid. You shouldn't be taking caffeine.” She turned back to me “So, what's the next step?”
“By morning, we're going back to the coast. We need to ask around for Tobias Harrison.”
When Hazel woke me up later that morning, I cursed the day I was born.
If there was anything I hated in life right after noise, it was being woken up from sleep when I didn't want to be awake.
“You’re the one who wants us to leave bright and early so we'll be able to get there in time.”
That was because I wanted us to be able to ask questions and move around and probably see the house where Tim used to stay and the cabin too.
There were still a lot of places to cover.
I finally found the willpower to stand up and when I did, I just sat in the bathtub, dozing off.
I woke up a few minutes later, rinsed myself off and dressed up.
My eye bags were deep enough to hold water.
The maids were already in the room with my food and Lana.
My baby had to eat before me. Hazel finished before me and she had to wait for me while Lana took her precious time feeding.
“I feel like I have a hangover. Gosh, we're stopping at a fast food place to get something to eat. I'm starving.”
I looked up from Lana.
“Why didn't you eat breakfast?”
“Well, I thought I was not the only one serious with this thing. I didn't know you'd have the time to eat.”
No matter what, I always had the time to eat. If I didn't eat, then I couldn't be productive.
We ended up sharing my food after Lana finished eating.
”We’re still stopping to get food. I'm still hungry.”
Well, we were on the same page with that.
Suddenly, something popped into my mind.
I wasn't a single mother. So where the hell was my husband?
Now that I thought about it, I brought out my phone and dialled his number but it just went straight to voicemail.
So I kept trying and trying.
“Who are you trying to call?”
“Elijah. He didn't come home and I'm worried.”
“Who told you he didn't come home?”
I thought she was pulling my legs but she wasn't?
Seeing the shock in my face, she turned to me while trying to share her attention with the road.
“Why’re you looking at me like that? Elijah was home last night. Didn't you see him? I saw him with Lucien. I think they spent the day together.”
Oh, he didn't tell me that was what he wanted to do .
I didn't know what had been up with him for the last few days but he said that he was fine.
So why wasn't he picking up his calls?
We eventually stopped at a fast food joint in the afternoon and I just sat at the table thinking about Elijah.
I didn't even hear when Hazel asked me a question.
We got our food to go because we were working with time.
I didn't want to let Elijah bother me but it did.
Eventually, we got to the coast later that evening.
It felt so good to be out at sea again but there wasn't time for sightseeing so we got right to work.
