Chapter 143 Lost Connection
ADRIANA
I was put in ropes, bound by my legs and feet together. Then I was pushed as we walked in the forest.
I was trying so hard not to trip over my own feet and not to also lose balance and fall to the floor. There was something wrong with me. I couldn’t see very clearly and my legs were so weak.
My mouth felt so dry and I felt like giving in completely. I couldn’t even hear Yara’s voice anymore. I tried calling out for her but her voice was very faint. Even Elijah’s voice was very low.
“What did you do to me? I know you did something so tell me. What did you do to me?” I spoke but even my words sounded a little drawn.
Someone spoke up from the front.
“Those ropes are laced with wolfsbane and Night, the witch’s poison. Everyone with powers is weak when it comes to it. You can’t escape it.”
I knew I couldn’t but right now, my body couldn’t take it anymore. My knees buckled and I fell to the ground, darkness covering me completely.
By the time I woke up, my head was banging painfully. I could feel my blood rushing to my head and I was cold. There was a distant sound that sounded like high pitched screaming and it messed with my head.
I tried to sit up but I realized that I was bound to a table. I tried to focus my vision on something in front of me.
The room was dimly lit, one candle illuminating the room from the side. The platform I was on was in the middle of the room and I tried to see what I was lying on but the ropes were so tight that they dug into my skin when I tried to move forcefully.
Where the hell had these sick men put me? I knew they had something in mind for me but I just needed to know what it was.
I tried calling out for Yara again.
“Yara! Yara! Where are you?” I was desperate.
Yet again, there was no answer again and that made me start to slowly panic. I tried calling out for Elijah as well but there was no response. God, how was I going to get out of here?
Everything in me wished that the witches would actually follow me so that they would be able to save me from this.
How else would I be free from this place?
Just then, the door opened and someone came in. I didn’t know if I should act like I was still sleeping or I should be awake so I went for the former.
I felt it when he got closer to me and I almost jerked when he put his hand on my face.
I had not been expecting that at all.
“You are beautiful. I didn’t expect you to be this pretty and attractive. None of the others have ever been like this. Your eyes are like the moon. You are really from the goddess. All the other ones were imposters.”
I would have thrown up if I wasn’t pretending to be asleep.
There was nothing in me that found this comfortable in any way. First off, I could smell his disgusting breath on my face and also, his dry skin that crawled across my cheek as he dragged his finger along it.
“I would like to have you for myself. Killing you will be a waste. It will be just me and you forever. I can save you from these men. Just say the word baby and…”
I could feel him getting closer to me and I would have screamed if his lips had actually touched mine.
Thankfully, they didn’t.
“Marcus, what do you think you’re doing in there with her? Get out here before the Grandmaster sees you and kills you for your lust?”
I finally felt him leave my personal space and when the door finally closed, I let out a very deep sigh and opened my eyes.
I would have actually died if he had kissed me.
What were they keeping me for? I thought they were going to kill me straight away and just get it over with. Whatever it was that they had in mind, I needed to know.
In the meantime, I needed to find a way to get out of here. If I could even speak to anyone, that would be better but I couldn’t get across to anyone right now and it was frustrating.
My link with Yara was weak and fading and so was Elijah’s voice or any other person’s for that matter. Maybe my body needed more rest.
I wondered when they would come for me and what they were waiting for. For some reason, I wasn’t scared of them or death. I just knew with a kind of certainty I couldn;t explain that nothing would go wrong and I’d walk out of here and back to Elijah.
I closed my eyes and tried to focus on my breathing. I needed to conserve my energy for whatever was coming.
The wolfsbane and Night poison were making me weaker by the minute but I couldn’t give up. I had to fight. I had to survive. For Elijah. For Leo. For everyone who was counting on me.
I pulled at the ropes binding me to the table but they didn’t budge. I tried to shift but Yara was completely silent. It was like she had disappeared completely. I was truly alone now.
I stilled when the door opened again. This time multiple footsteps entered the room.
“It’s time,” a voice said. “The full moon is at its peak. Bring her to the altar.” I felt hands grabbing me and untying me from the table only to bind my hands behind my back. They pulled me to my feet and I stumbled, still weak from the poison. “Walk,” someone commanded, pushing me forward. I had no choice but to obey.
