CHAPTER 18
CHAPTER 18
(VALERIA POV)
“I will do everything possible, Father,” I promised him, because if this should deviate from the original plan, Father and Mother will face the punishment when all they did was raise me. Which is why I am going to protect them even if I failed to protect my biological parents.
“You might get kicked out if you fail to do this. Try to get to know him more and he has a pretty rough past.” Mother said, looking at me with pity in her eyes. She is afraid that things might not go as planned.
“Your friends are here too,” Father said and I looked at him with shock evident in my face.
“Are you being serious?” I asked Mother and she nodded, smiling at me.
“We will take our leave now. I heard we will be having lunch with you today with the king.” Mother said and I nodded, even though no one informed me about the lunch.
“I will see you then,” I said and accompanied mum and father to the door. They held each other's hands, leaving and I looked outside to see Beatrice and Eleanor looking at me with their hands folded over their chest.
“What are you two doing here? Won't you come inside?” I asked, my voice laced with sarcasm.
They both look at me with a grumpy face before making their way inside. I closed the door behind them and released a breath before inhaling again.
“Wow, this is so beautiful.” They chorus looking at me. I opened my arms wide for them. They looked at each other before making their way towards me with their eyes brimming with tears.
“We missed you terribly Val,” Eleanor said and sniffed in. I pat their backs lightly, loving the way they actually confess.
I missed them too and it's not even a joke. “I love you both,” I said and they stepped back from the embrace.
Beatrice was already crying and they looked at each other and burst into laughter.
“We actually promised not to cry but we failed terribly,” Beatrice said and sat on the couch.
“How did you two come here?” I asked and quickly made my way to the counter containing the drinks. I took two energy drinks and gave them.
Eleanor took it and took a sip. “I was even about to lie in bed when my phone beeped with an incoming email. I checked the mail to see that it was an invitation for me to come to the castle.” She said and continued.
“If only you could see my face. The theme of the party blew my brain.” Eleanor half yelled with her arms in the air. She had a victorious look on her face.
“Introducing your Future Luna.” Beatrice completed and I laughed, not able to hold myself back.
“You too.” I pointed at them with my pursed lips. “I missed you not going to lie. You have come again with your jokes and are cracking me up.” I said and crossed my legs over another.
Eleanor, with her green eyes, even looked more beautiful today. I am going to tell her to wear a green dress tonight. I wish she would get mated to someone tonight.
“It's because I am finding it hard to believe that you are getting married to the Lycan king. This is something we couldn't imagine.” Eleanor said that, being the chatty type, while Beatrice is known for being quiet, she can be chatty sometimes.
“Is that why you are so excited?” I asked, clearly not excited about any of these. I wish I could tell them everything but I don't want to do that.
“Well, to me, it's just a title,” I said and the two looked at me with disbelief.
“You are such a killer joy,” Beatrice said and slapped my back.
“Ouch.” I winced and she mimicked me.
“I literally can't wait to see what he looks like. Believe me when I say Instagram is already getting bombarded with different rumours. “ Eleanor said and curiosity tugged at me.
I haven't really gone online to check what was going on but it seems I will do that now.
“Some are curious to know if you are an ugly mate and a few are convinced that you are one short ugly woman,” Beatrice said, laughing and I pouted my cheeks. “I can't even picture you in that because the description doesn't fit you.” Beatrice rambled on.
“They can't wait to see what the two of you look like. He will be making his appearance in the world after so many years. The people are excited.” Eleanor added and I stood up to take my phone.
“I will see to it myself what is going on. And why will they call me ugly?” I asked in disbelief.
“But seriously, this room is pretty Val. Are you the only one staying here? “ Beatrice asked.
“Do you expect her to suddenly move in with him? My Val is not like that but then, they will be getting married soon.” Eleanor said and stopped, coming closer to me.
“You will need to move in with him after all,” Eleanor said and I nodded.
“I don't mind. And yes I am the only one sleeping here now.” I said and logged in to my Instagram account
“The Faceless King and his Ugly Luna.” That was the headline and even the hashtag.” I chirped in and they kept laughing.
“Come on. Don't tell me you are checking what the bloggers are saying about you.” Beatrice asked. I placed my phone back and sighed deeply.
“But why can't he pull those posts down? Why will he sit quietly when everyone is humiliating me online?” I asked no one in particular.
“You should know that is just how he has always operated. I don't know if you still remember that popular rumour about how he looked hideous, which is why no woman is ready to be with him.” Eleanor said and she was right.
“Well, that is not true. He actually has a mistress who is so pretty. Almost like an angel.” I said between my lips.
“Huh? Did you say something?” Beatrice asked but I shook my head. It's good they didn't hear me.
“No. I just feel like this is unfair to me.” I said and rubbed my cheeks slightly.
“You don't have to bother yourself with rumours like this because that is why you have us. We will stand by you and tonight, I will be taking care of you.” Eleanor declared.
“I will help with selecting the best dress,” Beatrice said. Among us, she actually has a good fashion sense.
“While every lady will try to wear something catchy, like the red colour. We are going for somethin
g different.” Beatrice said, smiling and I know this is going to be a memorable day.
