CHAPTER 13
Half-brother?
But there was nothing like that in his history. What am I even saying? No one even knows his history, so why would anyone think he had a half-brother?
“So he is probably the younger one?” I said, talking about Vance.
However, without mentioning his name, Lady Eliona already knew that I was talking about Vance.
“No. I think you are mistaken because of how they look.” She said and stopped in her tracks. Though the sun was shining brightly, I doubt it will have any effect on her. Her skin is so radiant.
“Werewolf tends to stop ageing at a certain age and that is why it's actually hard to know who is older.” Lady Eliona said and I must admit that the words she spoke show she is older compared to what everyone can see. Casting her appearance aside, she is older than me.
“They might look as if they are of the same age but Vance is ten years older than Xyrus. You will get to know more eventually.” Lady Eliona said but I can't really blame her because she doesn't know much. If she knew the kind of person Lycan king Xyrus is, she wouldn't say that.
“But I don't think he would want that. He is too cold and I don't want to get that close to him.” I admitted and hugged myself. I rubbed the part above my elbow and looked at the building ahead which was made with a glass wall.
“But you will be sharing a bed with him, won't you?” Lady Eliona said and my face flushed pink like a teenager caught checking out a naked man.
“You will be getting married soon so it is high time to start pursuing your ambition. You will have many enemies,” Lady Eliona said and I pondered on her words.
Ambition?
I don't think I have any. All I wanted was to find the killer and travel somewhere with Eleanor and Beatrice. I haven't had a deep thought about what I want to do.
“Living alone as Luna might really be what you want right now. Did you know what humans do to keep themselves busy most of the time?” Lady Eliona asked and this is not actually the kind of conversation I wish to have with her but then, I had to because she actually wants me to know more.
“They watch movies, get married and have kids," I said and this is practically why human lifestyles are so boring. Why did you think they did all that anyway, only to end up dead at the end?
“And you forgot to add that they work for money. Even though working might seem tiring to them, most of them did what they love.” She said and I nodded, although it doesn't seem alright from my own perspective.
“So my question is, what do you love doing, apart from being Luna alone. It's not as if you will lack anything but Brother can be so confusing and he is not the type to show up every time but believe me when I say he will love you unconditionally.”
“I am just glad that he finally found someone he loves. Everyone has been waiting for this and I can't believe it's happening now.” Lady Eliona said and I wish I could tell her the truth that it's not what she thinks.
Lycan king Xyrus is not interested in me and we are only together now because of how things played out between my father and him. I suddenly felt thirsty but I wanted to listen to Lady Eliona more. I am not curious to know more about the Lycan king but like she said, we will be sharing a room.
“What was he like when he was a kid?” I asked, a little bit curious.
“That I can't say except from the stories we heard while growing up in the palace. He is known for being a shy boy and he discovered his power from a very young age, which is why he doesn't have many friends like that.” Lady Eliona said.
“Well, the man I saw today is not actually a shy person,” I said and Lady Eliona laughed.
“You are actually funny, you know,” she replied and held my hand.
“You will get to know more about yourself but I can't wait to see how things will be before I leave the castle.” Lady Eliona said and we moved a little bit forward.
I don't want to say more so instead, I decided to ask about the Glass wall.
“Whee is that building used for?” I asked.
“Oh. That is the courtroom. It's where the court meetings are usually held. The council sometimes visit these places too whenever there is an issue concerning the pack.” Lady Eliona explained.
“Then I still have a long way to go, Lady Eliona. Thank you for showing me around.”
“Oh no, we haven't even gone anywhere. Please come with me.” Lady Eliona said and we walked forward before taking the car. She showed me where the big pool and some of the quarters are, which show the artefact which has been collected for over a hundred years and they are still looking so good.
The palace might look a bit old but I can see that it is not the case.
“The Elders will want to meet you soon. We will be having a big party to attend tomorrow.” Lady Eliona informed me and this is actually news I wasn't expecting.
“I came to the party held two days ago. They must have already seen me.”
“No, my lady. You weren't introduced because I am sure a lot of people would have thought you were just dancing with the Lycan king for fun. This time, your parents will be present. You will be informed first tonight and the invitation will be sent.” Lady Eliona said and paused.
She looked around as if trying to check if someone was eavesdropping.
“I know about all these because this is how it has always been. The culture demands this” Lady Eliona said and giggled, looking at me.
“Then I need to look my best tomorrow.” I thought and sighed. I really hope I will be seeing my maid tomorrow but I don't know how I am going to convince him unless I see him.
“Is there anything more you want to do?” Lady Eliona asked but I shook my head.
“No. I don't think I want anything for now. I just want to retire to my room and concerning what you said about working, I have a fancy for owning a jewellery store but I doubt the werewolves are interested in these.” I said but it was more to myself.
Considering the blood running through my veins, I would have loved to be in the training ground with those men but that is not what my fate entails.
“It's actually good but I doubt Brother will approve it," Lady Eliona said and we took the car back.
When I got out of the car, it felt as if someone was watching me, which actually made me look up but there was no one staring out of the window.
“My lady, the King demands your presence in his chamber.” The maid said and I looked at Lady Eliona.
She must have wanted us to stay together for a while but it seems we will have to do that another time.
“It's fine. You should go.” Lady Eliona said Get in.
“Lead the way,” I informed the maid and raised my chin high with confidence. If he wants me to play the perf
ect role tomorrow, I would love to invite my friends because my wedding day might be the last time I will be seeing their faces.
