LEGENDS AND REALITY

**SOREN'S POV**

As I stood outside the dimly lit infirmary room, my mind was in turmoil. The scent of antiseptic and fresh blood hung heavy in the air, mingling with the earthy musk of damp fur and wet leaves that clung to the pack members who passed by. Meeting the Lycan Lord of Chaos wasn't what I had expected at all.

Seeing the way, he fought on the battlefield had left an indelible impression on me. The thunderous sound of claws tearing through flesh, the fierce snaps of jaws, and the rhythmic thumping of paws filled the air with a primal symphony of war. The earth shook with each impact, reverberating through my bones and adding to the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

The way he fought on the battlefield, his strategic mind, and the aura that surrounded him; I couldn't ignore the pull to meet him face to face. It was a curiosity that tugged at my very core, an insatiable desire to confirm my suspicion—was he truly the legendary Lycan Lord of Chaos or just another powerful Lycan?

Everything in my body told me I needed to go to him. The stories passed down by my ancestors had fascinated me since childhood, and the opportunity to meet the man of legends stirred a mix of excitement and trepidation within me. The tales had spoken of his unmatched strength, his cunning tactics, and his unyielding determination.

And then, when I finally stood before him and he responded to his title, my chest tightened with excitement and awe. It was him—the Lycan Lord of Chaos, the very figure I had only heard about in stories whispered through generations. Meeting him face to face was a surreal experience, and the weight of history hung heavily in the air.

As I stood lost in thought, the world around me blurred, but a sudden collision brought me back to the present. I looked down to see Lyra, the Alpha of the Nightfall pack, standing right in front of me. Without hesitation, I reached out and steadied her with my arm, feeling the warmth of her skin against my own. My touch was instinctive, a reflex to prevent her from stumbling further.

As my fingers touched her, I couldn't help but notice the distress etched across her face. Her furrowed brows and tense expression mirrored the tumult of emotions that swirled within me.

"Sorry, I didn't see where I was going," Lyra apologized, her voice tinged with concern.

I nodded in response, trying to compose myself as I inquired about Lucian's condition. "How is the Lord?" I asked, my words laced with a mixture of awe and uncertainty, eager to hear about the Lycan Lord of Chaos' well-being.

"He is stable now," Lyra replied, her worry evident in her tone and demeanor. The revelation only deepened my curiosity and desire to understand more about the enigmatic figure lying in the infirmary.

As she mentioned Lucian's condition, conflicting emotions surged within me. The legends and stories of the Lycan Lord had captivated me since childhood, and now, standing here, face to face with him, I couldn't help but wonder if there was more to the truth than the stories had revealed.

Doubts crept into my mind. Had my family carried false memories through generations? How could the formidable Lord of Chaos, as described in the stories, appear so different in reality? The disconnect between the tales and the weakened figure before me left me questioning everything I had known.

My thoughts swirled with conflicting emotions as I stood there, grappling with the weight of my ancestor's sworn oath to follow the Lycan Lord of Chaos. Throughout generations, the sacred oath echoed in our hearts, binding us to a promise that when the Lycan Lord of Chaos returned, he would be our savior once more, and we would unquestioningly follow him.

Fenrir, our current Alpha, ruled with an iron fist, and not everyone in the pack agreed with his ruthless ways. Despite the internal dissent, we had no choice but to follow him, for breaking away would mean becoming a rogue, vulnerable and stripped of the pack's protection and power.

Amidst the turmoil in my mind, I knew that this encounter was a turning point in my life. It was a moment of reckoning, of challenging the truths I had known and uncovering the reality that lay shrouded in the mists of time. A part of me hoped that Lucian truly was the legendary figure we had revered for generations, as following him might lead to a future free from the oppression of our current Alpha, Fenrir.

Lyra's voice brought me back to the present, "I need to detain you," she said, her voice filled with determination.

I understood her caution; after all, they were at war with my pack. To prove Lucian's authenticity, I would have to undergo scrutiny. "I understand," I said, my voice steady as I acknowledged Lyra's caution. "I know you must be wary, especially with the tensions between our packs. I'll cooperate."

With that understanding between us, Lyra led me through the hallway our footsteps echoing throughout the corridors. We reached a door and she fumbled with her keys before unlocking the door. My expectations were of a cold, dreary prison cell, but to my surprise, she opened the door to reveal a room that seemed nothing like a prison.

"I didn't think your prison was so comfy," I remarked, somewhat puzzled by the unexpected setting.

Lyra's face danced with amusement, her kindness catching me off guard. "This is not our prison; it's the war room. I want to show you some respect in case you are speaking the truth."

Her gesture of understanding and mercy was unlike anything I had experienced from Fenrir. My mind reeled with the contrasting images of the two leaders, leaving me torn between duty and a newfound glimmer of hope. Lyra motioned for me to enter, and I stepped inside, feeling the weight of uncertainty and hope pressing down on me.

Lyra's eyes briefly flickered to a distant point, and I sensed her engaging in a mind-link with someone. Soon after, three individuals entered the room shutting the door behind them.

Lyra introduced them, "This is Sergeant Cole, Maya, my beta, and Alex, my Gamma," she said warmly, gesturing to each person as she named them. They took their seats next to her, their expressions a mix of curiosity and concern. "Tell us about the Lycan Lord of Chaos,” her curiosity evident in her genuine interest.

For a moment, I hesitated, contemplating how much I should reveal. But it was time to share the truth, to provide a glimpse into the legacy that had shaped my pack's destiny.
