Chapter 60 Seb.
"What were you thinking Fernanda? Why would you want to come back?" Maya thought, she had been staring for so long at the brick wall of the cell she was locked in. Her clothes had been changed and she was given dinner as ordered by Damon.
But Maya could only stare at the the meal, she had lost her appetite. All she could think about was what Damon had told her about Fernanda's letter. After everything that happened why would she choose to come back to Damon?
"I just hope you are doing this for a very good reason Fernanda!" Maya whispered to herself, sighing deeply after. She reached for her food which had already turned cold and began to eat. While she ate, she wondered if the reason why Fernanda wanted to come back to Damon was because Sebastian wasn't so forgiving of her attempt to run away.
Knowing how King Kozlov was, it wouldn't surprise her if things turned out that way. And if it truly did, she was sorry for giving Fernanda false hope about him when they got stranded on the island.
"He would care more about seeing you than anything else."
What if he hadn't? That must have hurt enough for Fernanda to secretly write a later to Damon in agreement to wipe out all the Lycans. The little appetite she had gained began to slip away as she thought of that possibility. But on the bright side, she hoped it was a strategy to put Damon away.
A well planned strategy because Damon isn't the one leading the order without reason, the man could be the smartest person she knew. But then she'd be underestimating Levi Griffin.
Damon let out a sharp grunt. He was trying to stretch his damaged leg properly from behind his desk as he sat down but to no avail. "Shit!" He cursed under his breath when a slight shift made his ankle twist.
The shadow wielder in his office with him who was supposed to act as support, came rushing when he saw Damon struggling. "No... It's fine, I'm fine." Damon wave him off with a sigh. He hated how his injury made him look weak, especially in front of his soldiers. "Leave," he muttered to the shadow wielder, his voice strained with pain and shame.
"I can't leave you like this my Lord, you need my–"
"I said leave!" Damon barked at the poor boy who hurriedly left before the cane Damon angrily threw could reach him.
Damon was livid, he was going to make the Lycan pay in folds for what he had done to him. But first, he needed to write back to Fernanda. He has read the letter countless of times, taking in every word and every promises.
Part of him wanted to believe it was all a setup, a strategy to lure him out. It could probably be because Sebastian was a great strategist. But the contents of the letter showed all too well that they were written by Fernanda.
"The Lycans rule with madness and chaos, I did not understood what you meant then but now I see everything clearly. They need to be stopped. I'm so sorry I doubted you." Damon couldn't be more convinced that those words came from Fernanda herself.
She wrote in the letter that she would secretly leave Sebastian's camp first thing at dawn and head towards the border leading to Vosnos. "But I must hear from you first and also have your word that you will bring Maya with you."
Damon began to write back, in his letter, he made promises of bringing Maya along with him but slitting her throat as soon as he finds out that it was all a ruse. "Two can play at this game." He stated as he sealed the letter. He wasn't planning on getting played.
It took a day for Damon's letter to reach Kozlov's royal camp. It was delivered by an owl and the first person to receive it was Levi. "How desperate," he muttered with a when he saw Damon's signature and the great order's seal.
Fernanda was with Sebastian as he fed his horse when they saw Levi approaching with a letter held firmly in his right hand. "He responded?!" Fernanda exclaimed when she saw it.
"Quicker than we had imagined, how desperate." Levi responded. "Good. It only lets us execute our plan faster," Sebastian sneered, he hadn't seen Damon but he just couldn't wait to bash the man's skull against a block of ice. Levi smirked again when he saw how Sebastian's face darkened.
The letter was still unopened. Levi handed it to Fernanda and she carefully opened it. Sebastian could hear her heart race faster than normal. Even Levi could hear it. He stopped her, "Your heartbeat is too fast, you don't have to read it yourself." He told her in a very calm tone.
Fernanda shook her head, "I can read it." She said even though her hands shook. Sebastian and Levi both glanced at each other. "She's stubborn," Levi said through mindlink. "Tell me about it," Sebastian responded, his gaze still on Fernanda.
"He agrees to my conditions," Fernanda said but with a deep frown on her face. "Why do you look upset? That's a good thing right? Or did the bastard say anything else?" Sebastian asked, looking at Fernanda with concern in his eyes.
Fernanda nodded, "He said he will bring Maya along with him but the moment he notices that this is all a ruse, he's going to slit her throat immediately." Fernanda looked up from the letter to meet Sebastian's gaze. She could feel her stomach drop. "That can't happen, we must not let that happen!" Her voice trembled alongside her hands.
Sebastian took the letter off her hands, handed it to Levi and pulled her into his embrace. "I won't let that happen. I promise." He muttered in a soft but firm tone against her hair, pulling her tightly against his broad chest in a bid to calm her down.
Levi scanned through the letter and his eyes darkened at the emphasis Damon laid about killing Maya. "I should have broken more than his leg that night." He said, clenching the paper tightly in his hand. "This means I have to show up," Fernanda stated.
Sebastian release her slightly and held both of her shoulders, "You are not going to do that." His voice was menacingly low. Fernanda shook her head, wrenching herself from his grip, "I will go, it is necessary." She retorted firmly, clearly tired of his constant need to keep her within his own idea of safety.
"We have a plan Fernanda, Damon won't be touch Maya because before he even notices something is off, we'd have had his head by then." Sebastian stated, searching Fernanda's eyes for some understanding.
She rubbed her forehead with her palm out of frustration, "You are not listening to me–" Fernanda started to say, No, it's you who is not listening!" Sebastian growled. "If anything happens to you again, I will become that version of myself that you hate and I want to avoid that as possible as I can." His tone was harsh.
"Well that's a selfish motive Sebastian! I refuse to stay back while my friend's life is in danger. I simply refuse." Fernanda snapped at him, walking away in anger.
"Your majesty... She's agitated and angry. Let's let her be for now." Levi said when Sebastian was about to go after her. "I just want her safe." He muttered with a deep sigh as he watched her go. In situations like this, he could very much use some advice from Anderson but the old man was no longer here.
For the first time ever, Sebastian was so lost about to do. Levi on the other hand, already knew what he was going to do. Damon plans on slitting Maya's throat? He'd love to see him try without his hands...
As Fernanda got inside Sebastian's tent, she slumped against the bed, unsure of what to do. It wasn't as if she didn't trust Sebastian's plan well enough, she just didn't want anything to go wrong because she relied on just trust to get Maya back.
Moments later, Sebastian walked into the tent. A sigh escaped his lips when he found Fernanda pacing. "Stop doing that." He told her, dropping his sword on the table. "I'm not doing anything Sebastian," Fernanda replied with a sigh too.
"Fernanda I really do not enjoy our constant argument about even the littlest if things, it unsettles me." Sebastian said, he was clearly tired and Fernanda could see it. "Likewise," she replied with a throw of both hands. "I just wish that for once we see eye to eye on crucial matters, Seb." Fernanda said, unaware of how she referred to him.
Sebastian raised his brows in surprise, a smile tilting the corners of his lips. Fernanda saw it and paused, "What are you smiling at?" She demanded, her brows knitting in confusion. Sebastian shrugged, "You called me Seb. I've never been referred to in such a way " He confessed, his grin getting wider. "Oh," Fernanda exclaimed, "I didn't even realized, I'm so sorry–"
"Do not apologize, I loved it. Would you please call me that time to time from now on?" He asked, hoping she would agree. "Of course I would! Only if you let me come with you to the border." Fernanda playfully said.
"I was planning on telling you earlier that you could come too but here we are." Sebastian replied, with an equally playful voice too. Sebastian found himself staring and taking in all her happy expressions. He was always enthralled by her, right from the moment he saw first saw her portrait till now.
Fernanda's smile meant the world to him and he intended on keeping that smile constant on her face.
"We move first thing at dawn. But since you will be coming with us, I need to revise our plan again before midnight." He told her. "Fine by me."
Sebastian moved closer to her, reaching for her waist. She gasped as he pulled her closer to him, the space in between them almost non-existent. "What are you doing your majesty?" Fernanda demanded breathlessly.
"No. Seb." He corrected her.
Sebastian cocked his head to the side a bit, gently caressing both sides of Fernanda's waist. "Getting comfortable around my wife." He whispered in her ear. Fernanda could feel something change within her as soon as she heard his deep voice.
She felt an electric sensation that travelled to a spot directly in between her legs. Fernanda wasn't sure what it was, couldn't explain it, but she loved it.
Her legs immediately turned into jelly when Sebastian began dropping featherlight kisses on her ear right down to the trace of her neck. What Fernanda felt at that moment was indescribably good that she didn't know when a soft moan escaped from her lips.
Out of surprise, Fernanda's hand immediately flew to cover her mouth, her cheeks flushed from heat and embarrassment. Sebastian smirked when he saw her reaction. "All I want to do right now is kiss you with so much fervor that it may scare you," Fernanda clasped her hand tighter against her mouth as another ridiculous sound threatened to escape her lips.
Sebastian smirked again when he saw that, "But I'm going to let you rest now, we have a long day ahead of us tommorow. You need to sleep." He said, unabashedly grabbing the right side of her butt cheek. Fernanda's gasp was silent.
How on Lunareth was he making her feel like this with just words and little kisses? The sensation she felt earlier intensified and Fernanda could feel a strange tightness and warmth right in between her legs.
She almost protested when Sebastian released her and took a few steps backwards. "I need to go meet with Levi now," he told her. "No don't go–" her subconscious screamed aloud as they both watch him leave. Fernanda was ashamed of how she hated not having Sebastian's touch on her.
She needed him badly, he had just unlock a new and entirely foreign sensation in her and just left.
They've kissed before but this was surely different. And a part of Fernanda couldn't help but think it was because she ha begun to fall in love with him.
When Sebastian went outside, he met Levi and Gayle already approaching. "Fernanda rides with us tommorow and while she plays decoy, she has to be protected. Heavily."
