Chapter 22 Escaping Again
It was as if time stopped moving and everything was frozen in place. The only thing that seemed to be in motion were the calculative thoughts in everyone's head. "You seem to enjoy this so much, don't you? Why not let me make this more interesting for you." Fernanda said to Sebastian before pulling out a penknife from her back pocket.
She firmly held it against her throat, smirking at him. "Touch them and watch me slit my own throat." Fernanda was frantic, she had no idea what she was doing and for the first time she felt afraid of dying. Something had to be done though, she couldn't let Sebastian kill off innocent people just because he wants to.
"Stand down Levi, I think my wife has made her point." Sebastian said aloud. Fernanda breath out a shaky sigh of relief, she looked at Yolanda and Maya apologetically and they gave her a small appreciative smile in return.
Sebastian immediately unfreeze Fernanda's legs and walked up to her. "A pen knife huh, how feisty-" Sebastian hadn't finished his statement when Fernanda slapped him across the face. Hard.
"I blame myself for thinking you were ever going to change. I thought you were redeemable, but I was wrong. You are truly a monster, an irredeemable one." Fernanda said, her voice dripping with spite.
Sebastian wanted to tell her how hard he was trying to change, he wanted her to know the battle he was fighting within himself to adjust and make her see him as less of a monster. He truly wanted to be the man she wants him to be but all he keeps seeing was darkness.
Fernanda was like a sudden blast of light that invaded his own dark world and he so badly wants to keep that light, to nurture it so it doesn't fade away. Now that seems like an impossible task because Fernanda only seems to hate him more.
Sebastian wanted to say something, but he couldn't as he watched Fernanda storm away from him in anger.
She walked away from him as fast as she possibly could. All three of her Maidservant running after her, not wanting to let her out of their sight once again.
"What about them?" Levi asked, flicking his dagger as he walked towards Sebastian, referring to the two guards who were supposed to guard Fernanda.
Sebastian let out a soft sigh, "I'm trying to be in my wife's good grace Levi. That's their only saving grace for today." He told the vice commander who nodded in agreement.
"I must admit your majesty, The Queen might look fragile, but there is one hell of a fierce and strong-willed woman within her." Levi said in a approving tone, he was impressed.
Sebastian smirked and climbed his horse, Levi never says anything without reason. His words and thoughts were always very carefully calculated. "You'll have to be more specific," Sebastian told him.
"She can't wield, can't shift, neither can she fight to defend herself. She's just as vulnerable as any basic human. She needs to be trained." Levi said, mounting his own horse too.
"I don't want to hurt her in anyway," Sebastian said and Levi gave him a look which Sebastian knows too well. One which told him since when had he ever cared about hurting anyone. "You don't need to be the one to train her to fight." Levi said.
Sebastian scoffed, "Of course I do, like hell would I let anyone else train Fernanda."
"But you'd go too easy on her, if you want her physically strong enough to defend herself then she needs a teacher who would be ruthless with her training." Levi told Sebastian.
A not so subtle frown settled upon Sebastian's face. As much as he hated to admit it, Sebastian knew this was necessary because Fernanda keeps finding herself in situations that could jeopardize her life, she needs to learn how to keep herself safe. Another thing he hated to admit was that he wasn't the right person to teach her how.
Although that wasn't what bothered him now, she's currently furious at him and he needs to find a way to apologize to her, yet again.
"I can't do this anymore. How dare him." Fernanda said as she paced back and forth in her chambers. It's been an hour since they arrived from the stables and she had been restless ever since.
"Everything that happened was our fault your highness, the King was right to be angry, we were supposed to protect you and we failed." Yolanda said, her voice still shaky from fear.
"No you don't understand. Sebastian has gone too far, way too far!" Fernanda said while rushing towards the Maidservant, her face stricken with perplexity. "This isn't the first time he has threatened to execute you guys, all for nothing."
" Your highness–"
"Stop defending him Yolanda, he is a monster. I fooled myself by thinking he would change but the truth is he is never going to change." Fernanda shook her head bitterly.
"He crossed the line today and I don't think I can ever forgive him for that." She said as she walked over to where her wardrobe was. "What do you plan on doing your highness?" Maya who had been silent the whole time, said.
"I plan on escaping from this hellhole called marriage." Fernanda simply replied. She took out few clothes from her wardrobe and placed them on the large bed. "You can't do that Fernanda! It's too risky." Yolanda whispered, her voice filled with panic.
Maya didn't know what to say, she wasn't expecting to hear that from Fernanda. "Yes I can, and you both are coming with me." Fernanda told Yolanda in a tone of finality.
The woman looked unsure and reluctant and Fernanda could see it because she also felt the same way. What if they don't succeed in getting away? What if they got caught? This time, Sebastian will execute her friends and there'd be nothing she can do to stop it.
"I can't keep getting you all almost killed due to my reckless actions. No one deserves to live while fearing for their lives on a daily basis." Fernanda said.
"I wish you'd think this through your highness." Yolanda stated with worry.
"I won't force you to come with me anymore, but I'm leaving this place with or without your help." Fernanda's words were final.
