Chapter 91 Gut feeling
Calvin's POV
Something was bothering me when we made our walk- thru at the pit earlier today.
The driver of Richard's and Sophie's car.
That looked exactly like Bud, Alpha Roberto's best friend. Man they were so close they called eachother brothers.
I know it was him. I'd recognize him anywhere.
I was wanting to talk to Caden and Coban about him but Trixie went into heat.
I walked to Beta Kevan's office. His door is already open, him and Mark are in there working and talking.
"Sorry to intrude and bother you two but Kevan, do you have a minute?" I asked as I walked into his office and stopped right inside the doorway.
"What can I do for you? Is everything alright? Come in and have a seat." He said motioning at the chairs in front of him.
"I've been thinking since this morning's trip to the pit. It's the driver, the one in the pit. There's something wrong with that picture. His name is Bud. He was Alpha Roberto's best friend. I was going to ask Caden and Coban but I think they are a little busy. Is there a chance I could talk with him?" I ask with pleading eyes. I mean Bud is a very good friend of mine as well. He would never hurt Trixie.
"I'm sure it's alright, although it would of been nice to have Trixie since she can read people." He says matter of factly.
"Yeah, that definitely would of helped. If I'm right, he might actually have information we could use." I say. I do hope I'm right. I know his mate and his two children, they are both still very young.
We walked to the dungeon and on our way there I told them about Bud and the late Alpha Roberto. How close all three of us were back in the day.
"You know, you may be right. This definitely is worth looking into." Mark said as we walked into the dungeon entrance.
"Is there a place in here we could take him and talk privately. If I'm right, he's being threatened." I explained.
Kevan mindlinks Elliott and explains what is going on. He has him moved to a more private room, a room away from Melvin and the others.
When we walked into into the room, they have Bud already there.
For safety reasons, he's still in silver cuffs. But atleast his shackles are removed and he's not chained up like a criminal.
I really hated seeing him like that.
Atleast they brought him to a more comfortable and cleaner room.
They have him sitting on a chair already.
My heart drops. He looks scared and about ready to shit himself. He's dirty and slightly roughed up. His face looks as if he aged 5 years in just a few days. He's looking rather rough.
I walk in and sit on the sofa across from him. Kevan and Mark takes the chairs off to the side of the room.
"Hey there Bud. Relax a little please. I wanted to talk to you a bit. Is that alright. Will you cooperate with us and talk with me. Guys can we please get him something to drink and maybe a sandwich, please." I say the last part looking over at Kevan, trying to plead with my eyes.
"Uh, Uh, yeah. You know I'll always talk with you Cal. Have you been alright. Is it true Trixie is our Queen. I'm so very proud of her. I knew she was special." He rambled on as he shook his head, looking down at the ground.
"You don't have to be scared. Bud, you know me. I wouldn't hurt you or lie to you, alright. Can you please tell me why the hell were you even with Richard and Sophie?" I ask hoping that I'm right. Hoping this all don't blow up in my face.
Before Bud can answer, Elliott walks into the rooms and walks up to Bud and hands him a hot ham and cheese sandwich, a can of Pepsi, a bottle of water and a plain bag of chips.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know what he likes. If this isn't ok then I'll go get something else." He says with hope, hoping what he brought is good enough.
"That's perfect. He does like everything you brought him. I really appreciate it. Thank you very much." I say to Elliot.
Bud also said his thanks to him as well. He has tears in his eyes as he unwraps his sandwich and takes a big bite. I give him a few minutes. I know he has to be hungry.
"Cal. They have Dianna." He says all of a sudden as he's still eating his food.
I don't say anything. I wait to see what else he has to say. Giving him a minute to get himself and his thoughts together.
"I come to this tournament every damn year. I do good, I really do. I've been training hard. Donna and I was hoping this would be the year. The year they offer me a position in the Royal Army. We wanted to get away from Melvin. For 7 damn years he's threatened us, stole from us. But even if I wasn't offered a position, there is consultation prizes. Cash prizes. Donna and I use that money for the babies, to help feed them. We hide it from Melvin. I don't know what happened. I was at dinner with a couple of warriors when Beta Richards pulled me to the side. He told me he had Dianna. That I had to do what he said. Cal, he pulled up a fucking picture of my girl, duct tape over her mouth and wrists. She looked so fucking scared." He explained while tears were pouring from his eyes and down his face.
Kevan walks over with a box of tissues and hands him the whole box.
"I was told to be in that SUV. To have it ready and already running and to drive him to wherever he told me to go. He didn't give me any information at first. Cal, I heard them talking." He continued to say.
I knew it. I knew Bud would never side with Melvin. I wonder what information he heard.
Damn this could possibly help us.
