Chapter 148 Girl Talk
Trixie's POV
The palace feels tight lately. That's why I gathered the girls.
Two days before the biggest battle of our lives and every single one of us is pregnant. Stress isn't just uncomfortable, its dangerous. Especially for me.
My body has made it clear that I don't move the way I used to.
We meet in the kings quarters dining room. The tall windows let in warm afternoon light. For a moment, everything just feels normal. The kitchen staff moves in quietly. They sit out lunch, drinks, and an embarrassing amount of snacks.
I lower myself carefully into my chair. I have one hand braced on the table. The other resting instinctively over my stomach.
Sabrina looks over at me and crunches up her eyebrows. "You waddling." she giggles. "I'm glowing." I corrected her. "There's a difference."
Roxie laugh softly, rubbing her own belly. Trinity pours juice for everyone. Brandy sits and listens to everyone. For a few blessed minutes we just eat. No war talk, no strategies. Just chewing, sighing, and groaning, when my boys kick too hard.
Then Tina opens her mouth.
"So" she says sweetly. Her eyes are already lit with chaos. "Since we're all growing future terrors. It's time to dive into the juicy bits. OMG. Mark likes to do it to me from behind. If you catch my drift." she says as she wiggles her eyebrows.
I choke on my drink. Trinity reaches over and pats me on the back.
Sabrina coughs. "Tina." her hands go over her mouth.
"Oh, don't act innocent." Tina waves her fork. "Mark has preferences. He loves it when I run my tongue over the head of his dick. He also loves it when I grab his balls and tug on them slightly." she says and she looks at us. She's still wiggling her silly little eyebrows.
Brandi sits up straight. "Elliott is a freak." Everyone freezes and turns to her. "I mean that very lovingly." Brandi says calmly. "But still, he is a freak." Tina's eyes go wide. She moves forward in her chair and rest her elbows on the table.
"Like what kind?" Tina asks her.
"A few different kinks. He likes using bondage. He likes punishing me. But if I'm a good girl, I get rewarded." Brandi says excitedly.
I groan and cover my face. "I didn't consent to this imagery." I mumble as I shake my head.
Roxie is bright red. Sabrina is laughing so hard she has tears in her eyes. Trinity looks scandalized and fascinated at the same time.
Tina turns to Roxie and I with a wicked grin.
"Alright, your turn. You're both with twins. There is no way things are normal." she says, as she does her wiggly eyebrows and her silly face again.
I sigh. "Coordination is key. That's all you're getting." I say, as I lay my forehead down on the table.
"That tells me everything." Tina says with a smirk. Roxie hides her face. "I'm saying nothing." Tina screams and squeals and bounces in her chair. "That's confirmation." she declares.
Laughter ripples through the room. Everyone is less tense now. For just a brief moment today, we can breathe.
Eventually Sabrina stops laughing and wipes, the tears out of her eyes. "Okay, as fun as this has been. We should talk safety while we are all together. So we can be all on the same page." she said as she was serious now.
The mood shifts instantly.
"Trixie can't use her full powers right now and none of us can shift since we're with pups. If there's a breach, we don't even try to fight. We need to move." Sabrina says as she looks over at me.
"The tunnels." Tina says immediately.
I nod. "They run through the castle walls. Multiple access points. There is electricity in there so it's not gonna be dark. They are confusing to anyone who doesn't know them. That would be perfect for us." I say as I'm rubbing my stomach.
"Better than any panic room." Brandi says firmly.
"And more than one entrance." Roxie adds "That matters."
Trinity brings her hand to her mouth and gasps. She bounces on her toes. "Oh girls. Wonderful idea. What if the battle goes on and we're stuck in there? We should stock them." Trinity says. "snacks drinks blankets pillows. We find an area big enough and comfortable enough for us all to sit and wait."
Everyone turns to look at me. I smile at them.
"Already thinking it."
We enter the tunnels from the sitting room. It doesn't feel like a hiding spot. It feels like a den.
We walk slowly. We marked turns, noting the exits. We place bags of snacks, bottled water, blankets, and pillows. Sabrina marked the routes discreetly. Tina sprawls dramatically on the carpet.
"I could nap here." Tina declares.
"I might give birth here." I mutter.
"That would be legendary." Brandi giggles.
Laughter fills the tunnels as we all just let loose and have fun.
We talk about our mates. How Darien hovers. How Lucian pretends he doesn't. How Kevan's sarcasm is his affection in disguise. How mark somehow survives on charm alone.
"How do you think our kids are going to be?" Roxie asks quietly.
I rub my belly. I feel strong movement. "Powerful. Stubborn. And overprotected." I chuckle.
"And spoiled fucking rotten." Brandi adds with a chuckle of her own.
The lights flicker off and back on a few times.
"Easy boys." I whisper. "You two behave."
By the time we are finished with the tunnels, we all feel ready. We're prepared and we will be together.
