Chapter 131 There Is Still Threats

Chapter 131 There Is Still Threats

Coban's POV

The palace never truly relaxes after blood has been spilled.
I'm seated in my office, Trixie awake and settled on my lap. Her back against my chest. She's quiet and observant, listening, more than speaking. My arms stays firm around her waist, a silent reminder that she's safe here.
The room next-door remains set up as triage. Clean tables, medical supplies untouched, but ready. Preparation is survival.
I feel Trixie shift slightly. "It's over." She murmurs. "No love. It's definitely not over." I say quiet quietly. "But it's quieter. One threat has been taken out. But love, unfortunately, we have more." I leaned down and bring my lips to hers. Just a quick gentle kiss before my men start piling in the room next-door.
A knock breaks the moment. "We're back. We're all headed to the war room." Kevan calls from the other side.
I press a kiss to her temple and stand up with her in my arm. I rotate her around so she can wrap her legs around my waist, her arms goes around my neck. I carry her with me to the next room.
The war room hums when I step inside. Trixie set up sandwiches, chips and water for the men. She said they would be hungry, that they worked too hard.
I walk over to the chair that's meant for me. I sit down with Trixie still on my lap wrapped around me still.
Caden stands at the head of the table. His posture is rigid, his eyes are sharp. Mark is there, restless beneath control. Elliott leans against the wall, blood still drying at his collar. Darien and Lucian stand apart, composed and lethal. Both of them untouched.
"Guys, there's sandwiches and chips for you to eat on the table at the back. Water is there as well. Help yourselves." Trixie said in a low voice but loud enough to he heard by all.
Most of the men grabbed some food on their ways to sit down. They all thanked her for going out of her way for them.
"Queen Trixie. Always thinking about us." Darien said as he gave Trixie a gentle smile. "That's my girl." Lucian said as he too gave her a gentle smile.
Kevan takes position near the map, command still heavy on his shoulders. Kevin speaks without preamble.
"First two attempts we failed. They adapted faster than we expected. They were being directed. They kept mobile." he said, as he was still facing the screen hanging on the wall.
I nod once, giving him a silent command to continue.
"Our third attempt was a success." he continues. "Blake and Melvin are confirmed dead. Visual, scent, and bodies recovered. Most of their army eliminated. The remaining men scattered and leaderless." A collective breath releases around the table.
"No lycan fatalities." Kevan adds. "Minor injuries only." Good.
Darien speaks next. "The caves are partially collapsed. They are unusable. Anyone who survived won't return." he says, as he still holds his stance. His eyes keep flickering to Trixie. Always watching her. Even when she's in my arms.
Caden's gaze shifts to me. "But this didn't start with just them." he says, as his eyes moved down towards our girl in my lap. Trixie gives him a huge smile and a wink. He smiles back at her, his eyes were only soft for a moment, only with her.
"No" I say as I slightly tighten my hold on Trixie. "It didn't."
Mark steps forward. "We still have at least three packs watching us. Waiting to see what we do next. They are waiting for the perfect time to attack. Now that Blake and Melvin is out of the picture, when the word gets around, they will come and hit us hard and fast." he said as his eyes were rotating around the room, watching everything. Ready for everything and anything.
"And they are testing our boundaries." Elliot adds. "They won't move openly yet. But you can bet anything they are paying attention." he says, as he runs his hand through his hair.
I rest my hand on the table, my other arm stays around Trixie. "Then we give them something to pay attention to." I say, then I place a kiss to her forehead.
"Kevan, I want borders reinforced." I say and then I continue. "I want scouts beyond our territory. I want any and all movement reported immediately." I said, as I looked over at Kevan.
Kevan keeps my gaze and nods his head.
"No stand-down order." he says firmly.
"No" I agree as I nod my head at him. "We stay on guard." I look around the room. Meeting each of their eyes in turn.
"Melvin and Blake were loud threats. The remaining ones are quieter. That makes them more dangerous." I said, as I rubbed soothing circles on Trixie's back.
Cadens voice is calm and lethal. "Then we treat them that way."
