Part 48

Part 48
I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and emptied it. I didn’t like where this conversation was going, but I also knew that Christian wouldn’t be leaving this house. He belonged with us, and I’d always look out for him. I didn’t think that Adara was aware of just how much I loved him.

“Where are you going?”

“To bed. How long are you still going to be?”

“I’ll be up in a little while.” I kissed her cheek as she smiled at me and I headed upstairs.

Christian was sleeping with his one hand under his cheek and I smiled as I looked at him. I could never let him go and in that moment I made a decision. I was going to adopt Christian. Malachi had been right, again.

I closed Christian’s door and took my clothes off as I headed to the bathroom and stepped into the shower. I stood under the heat of the blasting water with my head bowed and I smiled as the shower door opened.

Adara’s hands snaked down my stomach and she pressed herself against my back. “You are so bad.”

Her laugh was a light chuckle as her hands crept downwards and she gripped my erection firmly. “Doesn’t look like you’re complaining.”

I turned around and pulled her against me and kissed her hard. My hands slid down her body and I picked her up; she instinctively wrapped her legs around me. She moaned lightly when I pushed inside her. Her hips moved to meet mine and she bit my shoulder, urging me to go faster.

I teased her for a bit, then gave in to both our urges. I pushed in deeper and harder, until I felt her climax, and she milked my own climax from me as her inner muscles clamped tightly around me.

My legs felt weak as I leaned against her and our breaths came out fast and harsh. I looked her in the eye and pulled out of her, letting her slump against the wall. I turned around and started washing my hair and laughed when she slapped me.

“That was cold, Kiran.”

I turned around and kissed her again. The water was going from hot to tepid and she stepped out of the shower, grabbing the only big towel, and wrapping it around her. “That’s not funny!”

She looked at me over her shoulder and gave me a grin as I grabbed her hair towel and started drying myself off as I followed her into our room. I climbed into bed naked and Adara raised her eyebrow at me.

“Put that on, what if Christian wakes up in the middle of the night?” She threw my pajama pants at me and I pulled them on, laughing.

She climbed in next to me. I switched the lamp off as she threw her one leg over me and lowered her head to my chest. “Do you really want to study herbalism?”

She was quiet for a little while. “I could give my patients herbs that really would help them and only heal a little at a time; I could make their lives better, make a difference.”

I thought about what she said for a few minutes before I answered her. “I just want you to be careful, that’s all. We’ve had enough attention on this family to last us a lifetime.”

I was happy living a quiet life at home with them. I felt her nod her head. She turned around to sleep and I turned towards her. She tucked my arm around her body and I smiled. How I had missed this.

Two hours later, I opened my eyes and Christian was staring at me. “What’s wrong, little man?”

Christian hadn’t yet mastered the art of whispering and I smiled as he answered me. “I’m thirsty and it’s dark in the kitchen.”

I got up and went downstairs with him. I opened the fridge and poured him some water. He drank his water slowly and when he was finished I took him to the bathroom downstairs to do his business while I waited in the hall for him.

“Can you ask the woman in my room to leave?”

I turned around in the hall to look at Christian standing in the bathroom doorway. His aura was clear, he wasn’t lying about a woman in his room. I had installed an alarm system in the house with locks on the windows. There was no way that anybody would be able to get in here without us knowing it.

“Let’s go look.” I picked Christian up and I carried him back to his room. I switched his light on and I looked around, even under the bed. There was nobody there and there were no fresh scents in his room either.

“I think you just had a bad dream, little man.”

Christian shook his head adamantly. “No. She said Malachi can’t see her and he needs to know.”

I felt the hairs on my arms rise as Christian folded his arms across his chest. “What did this woman look like?”

“She looked like Karani.” Christian smiled, and my eyes widened slightly.

“What did she say?” I asked Christian, trying not to sound worried.

“She talked about wolves and dressing like sheep, and to be careful,” he said, adamantly.

“Beware of the wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

“Yes, that’s it! She said  Malachi can’t hear her, and that I have to tell him.”

“Good job, little man. I’ll make sure  Malachi hears the message.” Christian shook his head no and gave me his best glare.

“No, she said I had to tell him so that he could hear I wasn’t lying.” His voice had taken a serious tone.

“Okay, tomorrow morning, we’ll wake Malachi and you can tell him.”

When I closed Christian’s door again, Malachi stood in the hallway. “What an odd message from Karani.”

I was left standing there alone in the hallway, confusion settling over me.
