A TROUBLESOME WOMAN

He could see in front of his eyes how she looked with that satisfied smile on her face. Alpha Enrique could see for himself how he involuntarily was trying to help her achieve her goal, it was his first time doing something by himself to make his mate happy and this was certainly not as easy as men made it sound like.

"You are back?" His thought process was hindered when he heard Licia's voice. He looked up to see her walking towards him, "I heard that you went to the town."

"Uh- huh!" The man nodded slowly, "I sent a messenger to the city and looked around the area."

"I see…"

"You are injured, why are you walking around and not in your room resting?"

"Oh!" Licia halted on her spot and touched the bandage around her neck, "It… It is just a small wound, I am totally fine. I had something to discuss with you, if you had… achoo." Licia sneezed before she could finish her sentence and the man stopped on his strides. He furrowed his eyebrows and turned around, "What is going on?"

He noticed that not only was she looking pale and tired, even her face was red. He walked over and touched her cheeks before touching her forehead with his.

The man found that her temperature was alarmingly high, "You have a fever?"

Licia's eyes opened wide, no wonder she was feeling dizzy and her head felt as if it would burst any moment now. She scratched the back on her and smiled, "I didn't notice, it seems…"

Alpha Enrique was irked seeing how ignorant she was, he said in a louder voice, "Can't you tell when your body is sick? You need to take care of yourself if you want to work hard. Overworking yourself and not resting is just utterly foolish, not diligent. Hurry up and go upstairs before your fever gets high."

Licia was immediately dragged upstairs by the man who didn't even bother to listen to what she wanted to discuss with him. She was made to lie down and Polene was immediately summoned for assistance.

The sky was dark as the bottom of an earthen pot and the afternoon sun seemed to have long disappeared behind those storm clouds. The whole ambience was calm and cold, as if it was the silence before the storm.

"Your fever has gone up." Polene uttered.

The Alpha stood there, leaning against the wall and watching everything as the housekeeper was putting on a wet cloth on her forehead. Licia said, "Thank you, Polene."

"Luna…" The housekeeper excused herself to the woman lying on the bed before turning towards the Alpha who was waiting there. She reported, "She might have caught the fever because of staying out in the rain for too long yesterday. The exhaustion and the injury on her neck must have inflated the effect and caused the fever to rise. I have applied the herb to treat the infection and have given her a dose of medicine as well prescribed by the pack doctor. The Luna will get well soon."

Alpha Enrique glared at the woman who was lying on the bed, wrapped in sheets with a blank eye. He waved his hand and said to Polene, "Okay, you have done well. You can leave now."

"Rest well, Alpha." Polene bowed in front of the Alpha respectfully before taking her leave. Once she left, the room was back to the couple all alone. Licia's temperature was so high that her lips were quivering, even the three blankets were seemingly not helping her. Seeing her like this, the Alpha couldn't help but say, "Pathetic."

"I purposely gave you that nightdress so that you would stay in the room and sleep, get some good rest. But still you went ahead and fished out the dress that I was planning to throw away only to work more and tire yourself. Now look, you have fallen even more sick."

"You indeed are a troublesome woman."

Alpha Enrique noticed that he was getting a bit harsher with both his tone and words, so he took in a deep breath to calm himself down and said, "Look, there is nothing more important than your own health. You have to first take care of yourself to be able to take care of the people around you."

"As your Alpha, I command you to stay in bed and rest till you recover. Do you understand me? About the other things, you can leave it on me and Polene. We will take care of it. Just focus on recovering."

He didn't have the heart to use his power and command his own Luna but this woman left him with no choice. He knew if not taken a strict action she would start running around again as soon as she feels a little better.

The sky rumbled outside, indicating the fall of rain any time now. Alpha Enrique remembered that he had a few things to do and he wanted her to rest as well. So, he turned around to leave when he heard her panting and moving around, "Enrique…"

The man stopped in his tracks and immediately went back to her side, "What is it? Are you feeling unwell? Do you need anything?"

The girl struggled to keep her eyes open and look at him; with her dried quivering lips she said, "I asked Polene to clean out the room."

The man was unable to understand anything until she started narrating to him the context, "I had the rooms cleaned out to accommodate your soldiers."

"Since you allowed them to stay in the castle, I presumed that they must be important to you."

"I did want to ask you before making the final decision but you were already gone. I didn't know when they were arriving and could not waste the time, so I just went ahead and ordered the rooms to be cleaned out myself."

"I- Will that be alright?" She asked slowly. The man had no particular emotion on his face making it difficult for her to judge his thoughts. Alpha Enrique remained silent for a while making her nervous beyond belief.
