REVEAL YOURSELF TO ME
Alpha Enrique wasn't the only one she had served many other Alphas in her past so she knew how stingy and troublesome they can be.
However, to her utter surprise, Alpha Enrique was quite different from the other ruling wolves she had worked for. Of course, maybe he was not as arrogant because he had been helped enough by his life as a former Omega of Ravenwood pack but there was also something peculiar about his eyes. As expected of a hero of the war who literally carried the whole battle on the edge of his sword, the air around him was oppressing and sincere just like that of a warrior. When she first met him, not only her, but every single servant in this castle were so afraid to even look straight at him and speak.
And the Luna that he had married just yesterday…
Polene thought that she was an odd one as well. From what she had heard, she was the daughter of the Alpha of the West Wing Pack and no member of that pack had a good reputation of being good or polite. Just like the other daughters of the ruling clan, she assumed that Licia too would be prideful, picky and completely ignorant of the plight they make their servants go through. But Licia was not only helping them do chores when there weren't enough people, she would also treat them politely with the utmost respect.
She seemed to really care about the people of this pack as she had managed to understand the current state of the land and had taken immediate actions like distributing the castle supplies to the people who needed it more than them. She was different from the rest and also extremely kind.
This was the most unique pair of Alpha and Luna she was going to serve and she had a hope that they would definitely steer their pack from these hard times soon.
She heard what the people were saying to each other and how they were unsure if they should take the goods with them. So, she had to jump into the scene and assure them that everything was alright and Alpha is not against this. "Please take these supplies!" She said, "I am sure the Alpha had some urgent business to discuss with the Luna, that is why he took her away."
Inside the bedroom…
Alpha Enrique threw Licia on the bed, sending her feeble body crashing on the mattress. His eyes were as dark as the storm clouds when he pulled out his sword from his sheath and pointed it straight at her. The girl's eyes flew open as sweat beads started to cover her forehead instantly. She returned the man's dull yet deep gaze which seemed to be straight into her soul with her own timid ones.
He intoned, "Are you really just some bastard maid?"
Licia's mind was sent into a thunderstorm when she heard his question; she was right, she was indeed brought here to be interrogated and tested. She told herself to stay calm and started to calculate her response. She knew that every single word that she would say would have a weight on its own and if she says anything that she isn't supposed to, it would be the end of her. The Alpha would only grow more suspicious if she tried to make a hasty excuse and escape from this situation.
She stayed mum and lowered her head to avoid his gaze, sending a whole new set of thoughts inside the Alpha's head.
This woman was not just good at spinning words and talking. It takes more than just a good speech to build the trust of the people, it was all in the attitude of the person. Sometimes threatening and sometimes gentle, she knows how to act according to the situation and lead the people.
This was something an Omega could never do.
He said, "I know you are not just a simple maid as you call yourself as. So now, reveal yourself to me, Licia!"
Licia's hands trembled slightly before clutching the bedsheets underneath her. She said in a low voice, "Is that… so important right now?"
"What?" Alpha Enrique did not understand what she meant by this and thus, was taken aback.
"Was knowing my identity so important that you had to drag me in here, in front of all those people?" Licia lifted her head to glance at him for a brief second before continuing, "You must have already known by now that the people in the town fear you. Even if you don't want to, we will have to give out our supplies for a while. At least until they can put aside their fear and regain their faith in you as their Alpha."
Licia stopped there and repeatedly asked her not to get nervous as this was the most crucial part now. She has to spin the truth within a lie as it was the hardest thing to catch. If she executes it perfectly and manages to make the man believe it, it would buy her some extra time.
She gulped and started, "You asked me if I am really just some bastard maid working for the West Wing's Alpha. Well, to be honest, I wasn't a bastard back in the pack who shared the same blood as the Alpha but a disgraced Omega who everyone loathed."
