Chapter 27
Charlotte and Claire were getting along now. Both of them connected too quickly. Claire had no doubts about Charlotte as she seemed like a true friend who will be a great addition to her side. Truthfully speaking, Charlotte was a great lady.
As for Charlotte, she had a different side of story. Charlotte had a great liking for Claire but all what had happened was still confusing to Charlotte. She had always known Rose but seeing her face now made her like she was relating with someone else. Her problem was how the person she had always known was acting like someone different.
Was this Rose or someone else? The facial features and body were Rose but the character, charisma, and attitude wasn't for Rose.
Then who was this person? Or had Rose been switched? Was this Rose's twin sister?
Wait! Rose had no twin sister. Then who was this? This unsettled Charlotte's mind. She couldn't help but remain worried concerning this happening.
Claire was quick to notice this expression from Charlotte. Quickly, she made to question Charlotte.
"Charlotte!" Claire called. She gazed at Charlotte weirdly. She knew something was definitely wrong.
"Oh! Yes!" Charlotte shouted in reply. She had been formerly lost in her thoughts and this call got her back to the living world.
"Is everything okay?" Claire asked carefully. She was looking at Charlotte in a very weird way. Claire knew that Charlotte was hiding something very important from her.
"Yeah!" Charlotte replied too quickly for Claire's liking. "Everything is fine. Nothing! Nothing is wrong with me. You can trust me and hold me by my words."
Claire took a deep sigh. She was thinking carefully about what was happening in her mind. Charlotte had claimed that nothing was wrong but Claire chose not to believe it. This didn't sound true at all and Claire was going to smell it out. Claire was going to find out no matter how hard it was going to be. The first thing Claire did was question Charlotte further. She had the belief that Charlotte would compromise and tell her what was wrong.
"But I don't believe you…" Claire said slowly. "I am worried and I know that you are telling no fucking truth. You have got to tell me what the hell is wrong. I have to know, Charlotte! I have to!"
"But nothing is wrong!" Charlotte replied. Her voice was high-pitched but Claire didn't mind. "You are talking about me here. You are discussing about my life here and no one would know me more than I know myself. If I tell you I'm okay then I am. I won't probably lie!"
But Claire didn't give up. She forged ahead in determination and desperation.
"Come off it, dear!" Claire shouted back at Charlotte. "You have got every reason to lie and also to keep this a secret. I haven't got all the time in the world here so I want you to tell me the truth. Quick! Do it now!"
Charlotte took a deep sigh now as well. She looked at Claire and sighed again. Claire noticed this and she had to comment about it.
"Stop sighing! You are better of telling me the truth of this matter than sighing. Just tell me and I will treat this matter properly. I will see to this so trust me. Be brave!" Claire said slowly. She was trying the best she could to reassure Charlotte.
At first, it looked like it wasn't working but as time passed by, this words began to ring over and over again in Charlotte's ears. She decided to give Claire a try and tell her what was bothering her.
"It's about you, Luna…" Charlotte began. She knew she was taking a big risk but she didn't mind. Claire had reassured her, hadn't she?
"Me?" Claire asked for clarity. She didn't understand what Charlotte meant.
"Yes…" Charlotte replied. "I don't know what word to use but let me say…"
Claire waited for Charlotte to talk but time passed without Charlotte make that statement. This made Claire interrupt.
"I'm listening!" Claire affirmed. She wanted to quicken Charlotte's thoughts. Claire didn't have too much time to waste. Everything had to be done as quickly as possible.
"I know…" Charlotte said slowly. "Let me use the word 'weird'."
"Weird?" Claire wanted to know. "Are you saying I look weird? Is it because I haven't taken my bath?"
"Nah! You are getting me wrong…" Charlotte noted. "I didn't mind that. I was talking about a different point of view."
"If not my looks, what else do you mean?" Claire asked. She was getting angry gradually. How could Charlotte call her weird?
"I am talking about your attitude, Luna!" Charlotte said slowly. "It's strange and I have to say it! You ain't acting like the Luna I used to know!"
Claire took a deep breath. She didn't know what to say. She had to think carefully before talking.
"Do I have a bad attitude? Have I acted evil since when you walked inside this room?" Claire asked slowly. She was now angry.
"No, Luna! Calm down! I didn't mean it that way!" Charlotte said slowly. She was trying to get Claire's temper to cool.
"How did you mean it? Tell me right away! Have I been really this bad to you? I didn't think that way…" Claire was still saying. "You have just made me confirm that you truly can't please people. How could you do this?"
Charlotte didn't respond again. She simply looked at Claire now.
"Why ain't you responding?" Claire asked in anger. She was pissed off and she could do and undo right now.
"Since you can't seem to understand me, I think I should keep my mouth shut. I don't want you to see me as a disrespectful person…" Charlotte said slowly.
"Really? How about you go on and explain yourself? I will take my time to listen to you…" Claire said slowly.
At last, Charlotte was ready to talk.
"Thank you, Luna!" Charlotte began. "Actually, you ain't a bad person. All I meant was that you aren't acting like the person I used to know. Are you really the Luna I used to know? Your current attitude is cool but it's not what you used to do. This all hits me strangely!"
