Chapter 20
"What do you mean? I don't think I understand a bit about all you've said so far…" Master Linnaeus said slowly. "How could Rose lose her memory? Did she hit her head while fighting?"
"Calm down…" Marcus said again. "Like I said earlier, patience is key and this case requires nothing but patience. You are making it quite hard for me to tell you crucial things. Stop shouting!"
Master Linnaeus understood Marcus's point and he accepted. He displayed maturity in his dealings.
"It's well…" Master Linnaeus said slowly. "... But I don't think you expect me not to be shocked over this. Moreover, your statements so far has been contradictory. You first said Rose was only injured and after a while, you changed it to death. Later on, you said she woke up again and once more, you said she lost her memory. I don't know if I will be believing you anymore. This is too shocking and it doesn't sound ethical. I can't believe this! Is this a prank? If it is, then I hope you can cut it short. You are already taking this too far."
"I am not playing pranks, Master Linnaeus," Marcus began. "Everything I have been saying since is true and I want you to believe it. I will never play such an expensive trick on you. You know me from young age so you can probably tell if I am a prankster or not. I am clean!"
Master Linnaeus breathed in heavily. His presence was felt in the room and this was overwhelming. The arena was stuffy but none of the affected individuals had complaints about it. They had other troubles to manage and the room being stuffy didn't even rank among the top ten priorities of both of them at that moment.
"This is a bother and I don't like it at all…" Master Linnaeus began. His face was creased up in a frown.
"Yeah," Marcus supported. "I don't like this as well but what can I do? I have no other choice here but to confront the issue and solve it if I really want to have peace. This is giving me an headache."
"I can tell…" Master Linnaeus took on from that point. "I am glad that she is alive but the part about losing her memory saddens my heart. Have you gotten a doctor's diagnosis?"
"Not really…" Marcus replied. "The high doctor came to check on her but because she had a stomach ache at that moment, he had to focus on finding a solution to the stomach ache first. I haven't told him about it myself but I guess he would have been hinted."
"Wait! That means she is still safe for now…" Master Linnaeus said excitedly. Marcus didn't understand this statement and he asked for clarification.
"How do you mean? Can you expatiate please? It will be really helpful…" Marcus asked slowly. He was still looking at Master Linnaeus weirdly. The man seemed to understand everything and their emotions synced.
As usual, Master Linnaeus was ready to explain to Marcus, who didn't understand what he was talking about. This act distinguished Master Linnaeus from other people. He had the ability to understand people and according to him, nothing in the world would make him diminish people and count them as people with nothing to offer. Master Linnaeus never thought of people in a lowly manner. He was always open to understanding how people felt and he also had expertise in managing people who had low IQ and also ability not to comprehend things easily. Being able to cohabitate with such people made Master Linnaeus more likable. It also made Marcus adhered to him. That was one of the reason why Marcus would never want to be apart from Master Linnaeus.
"Take for example…" Master Linnaeus began. "This memory loss which you are so worried about might be temporary. It might be because of stress or fatigue. She stressed herself a lot while fighting and as usual, she needs to recover. Do you know she might recover all the memories you said she have lost after taking a good rest and using some medications which the high doctor would prescribe for her?"
Yeah, Master Linnaeus had a point there. Marcus had to admit this again. Probably, he was overthinking. This might be temporary and not like he had thought.
"Well, you might be right but you see, she hasn't been acting like the Rose I know…" Marcus said further. "In fact, I called her name but she didn't heed my call. I am thinking this is a different issue. It might be more complicated than you are presuming."
Master Linnaeus nodded carefully. He was obviously thinking for a reply as he listened to Marcus talk at first. After Master Linnaeus had been sure that Marcus was done talking, he began to give his reply.
"I have to admit that you are right there, Marcus…" Master Linnaeus began. "... But even still, this might be a product of overthinking. I don't doubt that fact that it might be more extreme than we think but you see, we do not die before death comes for us. Here is my opinion. I think we should wait for the doctor's view on this. After the doctor had given his diagnosis, we will know if this is manageable or it has gone extreme. What do you think?"
Marcus nodded his head approvingly.
"The idea sounds perfectly fine! I think I will go with it…" Marcus said slowly. He was smiling now.
"You think or you would? I thought you to be definite when answering questions, didn't I?" Master Linnaeus wanted to know. He was also smiling sheepishly now.
"Well, you did…" Marcus replied. "I will do just like you have said. I hope that is better?"
"Very better…" Master Linnaeus muttered.
Marcus was glad. His issue had been resolved.
"I will be leaving now…" Marcus said slowly.
"Very well…" Master Linnaeus replied. "Go on and sort it all out. If you have any other issues, feel free to reach out to me. I will definitely do my best to help you out."
And that was it!
Marcus moved outside with a bid to find a solution to the raging problem at hand.
