Chapter Ninety One
Chapter Ninety One
Keira's Pov
In the restroom, I bathed myself, my wounds fully healed. How would I approach the matter?
Where would I start from? I really had no idea, but was relying on the flow and the mood to take me through.
By the time I was done with bathing, a maid had already come with maids, and Lily was pouring tea into a cup, next to slices of bread for me to eat.
“I don't think I'll have any appetite for that, Lily. Thanks, anyway.” I said, picking up a glass, pouring water into it.
“But the doctor said you have to keep eating.”
“I know. Perhaps I'll feel hungry soon. Don't be too worried about me.”
After dressing up in a lovely dress flowing to my feet, I combed my hair, and made my way out of the ward, winding down the Palace halls, raising my hands to wave at maids who bowed, greeting me as I passed them by.
When I got to the throne room, I hesitated, taking in air, and releasing it slowly, before pushing the giant doors open.
The Alphas were seated on sofas, each of them seated as comfortably as they wished. Then, there were the concubines, dressed prettily, with flowers in their hair.
Alysia was among them, seated like the meanest Queen Bee ever. Her eyes locked on mine, and for some reason, she seemed triumphant.
I actually didn't feel annoyed. Rather, I felt sorry— completely sorry. She would die.
And I couldn't stop it.
I sat before them all, and a mug of tea was placed before me.
Then I cleared my throat.
“You can have the concubines. I thought much about it, and decided if I couldn't have kids, then I shouldn't throw the whole nation into potential danger. The Festival is in a few days. You can have them then, and hopefully, heirs will be produced for our Kingdom. That's what I wanted to say, and… I do have something else to say, but I just thought it would be better if I got this out of the way first. What do you think?”
Zane uncrossed his legs, reaching forward to take his glass of wine, “Well, with or without your approval, we were going to take the concubines, so this is nonsense, not needed.”
I didn't even need to peer at the concubines to know that they liked it. They were grinning.
“So what's the second thing?” Caleb asked, and I bit my lip, feeling my heart plunge.
Already, Zane was like this. What would he be like when I finally told him the truth, and Ryder assisted in making him believe it?
“Before that, I'd like to see Ryder privately.” I rose to my feet, smoothening my gown, “A conversation can be started while we're gone. Do follow me, Ryder.”
I walked away from the sofas regardless, making my way into one of the mini-rooms, and Ryder followed me. I closed the door when he came in, and grabbed his arm, dragging him far from the door.
“I think I should tell them.”
“Tell what?” Ryder asked.
“That I'm Keira. There are a lot of things going on right now, and I can't help but feel the right thing to do is let them be aware of this at least.”
“Are you sure you want them to know now?”
“Yes, if you attest to what I'm saying, then they'll believe me.”
“I’m gradually losing my memories. Before anything goes wrong, let's do this.”
Then it would be easier.
I would break the truth to them little by little, instead of suddenly. By the time of the festival, they would have known about the evil plan against them even though they didn't know who plotted it.
This had to come first.
“Fine.” Ryder said, and I placed a hand on my chest, with a sigh.
“Thanks.”
We both went out the door together, going back to the Alphas, and the concubines.
“Leave.” Ryder said loudly to the guards stationed around, and without a word, they bowed and made to leave. Ryder fixed his gaze on the concubines, and jerked his head towards the door.
They understood the message, rose and bowed, leaving immediately.
“Start.” Ryder said, heading back towards his seat, and I swallowed, holding my fingers together.
“If you'd recall. From… from the start, I always told you this.” I began, looking from Zane's hard face to Caleb's bored expression.
“Why did you ask the ladies to go out? And the guards?” Caleb asked Ryder.
“She's about to say something no one else should hear.” Ryder replied casually, and I gulped, as their concentration was all for me again.
“I'm not Luna. I'm really someone else. Someone called Keira. A human from the future.” I let out in a rush, closing my eyes tight.
Silence crashed, and it was so thick that I just had to open my eyes.
Zane's expression was stone itself. Like he was deciding on the best way to murder me.
“What are you saying?” Caleb asked, confused.
“Something happened, and I switched souls with Luna. This body isn't mine. It's Luna's. I swear. I'm telling the truth, but you see, the rest of the events that happened were crazy events. I could no longer keep denying it. I just had to pretend to be Luna.”
“This is…” Caleb began.
“She's right.” Ryder said, “I've confirmed everything, and right now, there's nothing we can do, but wait for the real Luna to be back. Our real mate. I will explain more to…”
Zane suddenly rose to his feet, walking towards me.
I stepped back a little as he came to stand before me, eyes a wall of ice, then he scoffed, “Something was indeed wrong somewhere. You could have kept on with trying to convince us, but no. You just had to pretend, fool us, and be our mate. The worst is sleeping with us…”
“None of it was my intention, I…”
He suddenly spat, his words turning my body into an ice castle.
You will be beheaded!!
