Shifting before they reached the pack house, they strolled hand in hand back into the building. All the while having a silent conversation about Phil Quint. Jonas was still in shock over the whole situation. He was still not sure what he should do, and was very grateful to have his beautiful Mate by his side. Genni went into the special changing room first. When she came out, she had a lounge suit on and a pair of sneakers. She looked adorable and sexy simultaneously, shaking his head and with a grin on his lips. He gave her a quick peck on the cheek and told her to go ahead of him. Genni gave him a tender smile and told him she would see him later. Genni had a good idea of where he was going and wasn’t too worried. After all, he was her big bad wolf. Smiling to herself, Genni was in a world of her own and didn’t hear someone calling her until she was halfway up the first flight of stairs. ‘Genni, sweetheart. Can I have a quick word?'!
That was the second time Phil had called out to her, and the second time she had ignored him. His hackles were raised because of the utter rudeness of it. It was getting about the right time for Her and his Son to realise he was the better Alpha. He had had enough of being pushed aside with the odd tidbit of information regarding his pack thrown his way. He disregarded Jorah’s plea, determined to speak to the girl, even though he knew it was more about pride now, rather than conveying to her his thanks for keeping Rosemary in the loop as Gamma.
Tugging on the bottom of Genni’s pant leg and surprising her so that she turned and kicked out at her would be attacker. Too late did she realise the man she had just sent flying through the air was the very man that was on her mind. ‘Oh my Goddess, Phil, are you okay?’ Genni rushed out, running back down the steps to attend to her father in law.
‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t realise it was you, so when I felt that tug on the bottom of my pants, I just reacted’ Genni’s face was flushed with embarrassment and guilt at what she had done. Helping Phil stand up, Genni suggested a cup of coffee and gestured to the large kitchen instead of her apartment. Grumbling under his breath Phil pulled his arm out of hers the minute they got to the door, so he could walk in unaided. Holding his head up high, he stepped into the kitchen and demanded a coffee. Following him in Genni’s heart sunk at his behavior. She was trying very hard to find a speck of light within him, but he seemed to produce more and more darkness. Martha handed Phil the coffee he had demanded, and raised her brows at Genni, who just shook her head sadly and followed him to the large table. "Have you had a chance to speak with Jonas?" Genni asked gently. She didn't want to spook him. Jonas, rosemary and herself needed to handle this situation with kid gloves. They all knew Phil was going to attempt a coup. They just didn't know when. The only thing they all knew for sure was Zachary was involved. Genni had asked Hilda to return to them and was on her way, with silas in tow, of course. This made Genni smile slightly, something that Phil saw. This clearly rankled him, as he sounded very harsh when he spoke "what do you find funny? Kicking an elderly man down the stairs"? Genni's eyes went wide for a split second before she managed to look calmly at her father in law. "What a thing to say, why would you say this to me Phil? I told you it was a reaction. You pulled on my pants, I wasn't expecting it. I apologize immediately. Do you accept my apology"? Phil looked steadily at her for a few seconds before answering. "I don't, and I will be interested in seeing how my son will take it." He lifted the cup to his lips, but didn't once take his eyes off Genni.
'So, its going to be like this' Genni heard sapphire say. Genni responded with a quick "indeed" before decided that she needed to speak to sapphire face to face before she spoke further with Phil. If he was going to try and put a wedge between her and her mate they both needed to be on full alert. Jonas needed to know this as well. Asking sapphire to relay this information to Jax Genni turned her attention back to Phil. "You must do as you feel is right, of course. I just hope that MY mate will understand where i was coming from. I believe Jonas is at the training grounds". Genni stood and excused herself from the table, and waved to Martha as she left the kitchen. Martha, on the other hand, had heard everything said, and was confused at the FGA. Why did he seem so hostile toward Genni? Making a mental note to speak with Daniel later, Martha continued with making supper, but was preoccupied for the rest of the afternoon.
Genni made her way to her office, as expected Molly was in her office working. Genni was plea surprised to see Sara sitting in the office too. Knocking on the door lightly, before walking in, the two women exclaimed happily to see Genni. Walking over to embrace Sara, Genni marveled at her growing bump. "Wow, you look amazing, how do you feel?" Genni looked worried, and Sara didn't miss this. "I'm okay, just a bit bored, so I came along to see what Mum was up to. Are you okay?" Genni looked surprised at the question before she realised that one of the only people that knew when something was wrong was Sara. She seemed to have a knack for picking it up, so to see her know with her eyebrows raised and waiting for Genni to respond made Genni smile ruefully. "He, do you do that" Genni said chuckling. "It's a gift, you may be a Demigod and all powerful Blah Blah Blah, but I have a window into your soul" Both women burst out laughing as Molly just shook her head at them. Coming back to their senses Molly looked at Genni properly and saw what her daughter had seen. "Luna, are you okay? You look a little off". Genni smiled at the two women and explained the encounter with Phil just now. "It seems the play is to try and put a wedge between Jonas and myself. I honestly don't understand why he is doing this" and with a sigh Genni shook her head sadly. Molly looked a little confused at Genni's words, "Why would Phil pick such a ludicrous way to start the ball rolling? Doesn't he see what every pack member can see when they look at you and Jonas? You too are so tight you're practically the same person?". Sara agreed with her Mom and added "what does Phil think is going to happen? Does he honestly think that whatever he has to say will be profound enough that it will put a seed of doubt about you in Jonas's heart?" Genni was at as much of a loss as the others, but before she could say anything, a deep voice spoke from the doorway, "my father is clearly losing grip on reality if he thinks for one minute he could sway my opinion of you in any way." Jonas walked over to Genni and leaned in for a quick kiss as he gently squeezed her shoulder. Happy to see her Mate Genni stood and embraced him. Jonas envelope her in the hug and buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her special scent. Pulling apart slightly Jonas addressed Molly and asked her to call a meeting of the inner circle. Without Phil finding out. Molly suggested that they hold it at the same time Phil took himself off for a run with his friends, as it seemed to be the same time everyday. Nodding, Jonas agreed, as did Genni and Sara. the latter stood and excused herself, saying she would tell Greg when and where. Watching her leave, Genni didn't realise she had a wistful look on her face. Molly touched her arm softly and said "it will be you soon" puzzled. Genni was about to ask what she meant when Molly carried on "carrying your own pup. It will be your turn next. You just wait and see" and like her daughter, Molly excused herself and went back to sorting through the applications for the fairness council. Taking her leave, Genni lead Jonas into her own office and walked back into his arms. Holding her close, Jonas asked what was on her mind, but Genni couldn't bring herself to tell Jonas that she would never carry their pup. They would never have a family. And Genni realised that if anything was going to come between them. It would be the fact that she couldn't give Jonas an heir.
