Sapphire trotted next to Jax for a while, looking around the beautiful forest, even in the dark as it was now. She could still see everything so clearly. They came upon a small stream, not deep enough to swim in, but deep enough that they got their legs and underbody wet, Jax started laughing when Sapphire started to whine a little.
''Stop laughing, you great beast'', she said to him, which only made him laugh more. Sapphire found herself smiling at the large wolf who was her mate. I agreed with Sapphire that this part should be completely controlled by her. I tucked myself away into a corner of my mind and let my beautiful wolf and our gorgeous mate have time together. On this most important night. A night that in many ways had changed Sapphire and me.
''This way'' Jax said, and as they slunk under a thick patch of bushes, they came to a small clearing. Not nearly as large as the clearing they had just left, but just big enough for two large wolves. Sapphire was starting to feel funny, she had started to tremble, and it wasn't because her legs were still wet.
I came out of the small corner of my mind and spoke gently to Sapphire. ''What's wrong, Sapphire? Something doesn't feel right?''.
''I am okay, Gen. It was only for a moment''. Sapphire tried to reassure me, but I still felt something strange was about to happen.
Jax walked over to us now and started to gently lick her muzzle. Sapphire responded by rubbing her head under his. They flirted for a while longer, then the mood shifted to pure desire. Jax started to chase her around the small clearing. Sapphire pretended to get caught, this went on until Sapphire lay under Jax. “Are you ready for the last part of the ceremony, my love?” Jax asked. “This is what I was born to do,” Sapphire replied.
As the two wolves came together, Sapphire felt Jax bite the other side of her neck with his own mark.
Not sure what was happening to her now, Sapphire felt the bite radiate through her entire body. It was like the current that ran along my skin when Jonas touched me was now a permanent glowing part of her. Jax gave a small yelp of fright when he saw Sapphire starting to shift back. Doing the same, Jonas could only stare at the vision in front of him. I stood there, naked, in front of him. My eyes were the brightest colour blue he had ever seen. My hair, once a beautiful silver colour, had now turned to pure white. It was blowing gently around me. Without looking at Jonas, I threw my head back, looked at the full moon, and with a strong clear voice said, “I hear you Mother, I am ready”. Then I fell to the clearing floor in a dead faint.
Jonas leapt towards his mate, panicking, not knowing what was going on. He knelt down beside me and gently shook me to try and get me to come around. After a few attempts, Jonas realised there was nothing left to do but pick me up and carry me back to the pack house. As he did this, he linked with Gregory and asked that some clothes and a blanket be brought to the edge of the forest for him. As he approached the pack house, he could see Gregory standing there with the items he had asked for, and he also saw there were four warriors with him. They all looked like they were waiting for orders, but when they saw me, their beloved Grand Luna, being carried in their Grand Alpha’s arms, they all ran forward and asked what was wrong. “Have you been attacked, Grand Alpha?” asked one of the warriors, another just growled low in his throat. One of them must have linked to the other warriors, as quickly the path to the house began to fill with wolves, all linking to their Grand Alpha, all worried about their Grand Luna. Although he hated to use it, he has no choice but to use his alpha tone to get everyone to quiet down and listen to what he had to say.
“Let me through, your Luna has collapsed, we were not attacked, so stand down! I must get the Luna inside”. As he spoke, the wolves parted like the Red Sea, and Jonas was able to rush inside the pack house. All members who lived there were downstairs in the entrance hall. They also made way for Jonas, some murmuring, some asking if Jonas needed help. Jonas sped into the lounge area of the pack house and laid me gently on a large sofa. There was a flurry of footsteps, and an anguished cry as Rosemary and Phil, followed by Alpha Daniel, came to the sofa.
“What Happened” roared Alpha Daniel. His fright at seeing me in this state had him forget his place. Immediately he bowed his head and said “Forgive me Alpha, I didn't mean to raise my voice at you”. Jonas waved it off and asked if the two older Alphas could do some crowd control and get them some privacy. Phil and Alpha Daniel jumped into action and quickly got the pack members to leave. They came hurrying back and saw that Rosemary was now sitting next to me, while Jonas had sat down and placed my head in his lap. Although I couldn't respond, he kept whispering to me lovingly.
Rosemary looked up at Phil as he returned with a tear-streaked face, and told him to call out for the pack Dr Everyone could see the change in my hair. They were all aware that something had happened, but not one of them addressed it. Their only concern was for Me.
Phil linked to the pack Dr to come out straight away. While they were waiting for her to arrive, both Phil and Alpha Daniel started pacing. Rosemary’s tears had stopped, but she didn’t let go of my hand. Jonas was still quietly talking to me, and even though Rosemary saw the tears fall from her son's downcast eyes, she said nothing. There was palpable fear and uncertainty in the air. One of the omegas knocked on the door, entered and told them the Dr had arrived.
After being shown into the room, the Doctor rushed straight to Genni and started to work. Rosemary stood up to give her some room, and she urged her son to do the same. Against his better judgement, Jonas stood up and joined in with the pacing.
He suddenly stopped, and looking at Alpha Daniel, he asked “were you supposed to be on the plane back home now?” Alpha Daniel looked a little taken aback at this question, but before he could say anything, his mother was admonishing Jonas. “Jonas, don’t speak to Genni’s father that way. Of course, he hasn’t left. His daughter is currently unconscious on our sofa.” The last bit came out a bit broken, as Rosemary was again reduced to tears. Phil rushed over to his mate and put a comforting arm around her. “I’m sorry, Alpha Daniel”, said Jonas. “I didn’t mean it to come out like that, I apologise”. He said the last part to his mother, who nodded her head, accepting the apology.
''Grand Alpha Jonas, I know I was supposed to leave. Seeing you carry Genni out of the forest, seeing her laying in your arms like that, I thought I had lost her. If it would be okay with you all, I will stay close for now, maybe rent a motel room in the small town we drove past”. At once, Phil spoke, “I will hear no such thing Daniel, you will stay here with us”.
We have a few spare rooms at the pack house, as many of our mated couples have started families and wish to have a home of their own. You will stay here”. Alpha Daniel walked over to where Rosemary and Phil were standing and held out his hand, which Phil shook.
“Thank you both, I need to talk with Genevieve, and I didn’t want to do it over the phone. So when Lucas and I had boxed up all Genevieve’s things ready to be shipped here, I accepted the invitation from the Grand Alpha to attend tonight’s ceremony and accompanied Genni’s things on the plane”.
Jonas looked up as he said this, he was now standing by the side of the sofa watching the Dr work on Genni. “You need to talk to her,” inquired Jonas. “Anything you have to say to my mate, you can tell me”!
“With all due respect, Grand Alpha, Genevieve is my daughter, and I believe that gives me the right to discuss certain matters with her and her alone”. Even though Alpha Daniel stood up and squared his shoulders, he still looked at the Grand Alpha with trepidation in his eyes. Thinking he had gone too far, he lowered his head and bared his neck in a sign of submission.
''Again, with respect, Grand Alpha, the matters I need to discuss with my daughter are things that happened before you entered her life. Therefore, concerns only her''.
Daniel gulped down his nerves as he squared off to the grand alpha. He could see Jonas was fuming but was relieved that the younger man did not push it. Like himself, Jonas was only concerned about Genie. Only Genie.
