Chapter 8
Phina’s POV
“Take it easy with her… you don't want to have Alpha Asher to deal with after you’ve roughly handled his package…” one of the men teased as two others dragged me by the hand like I was some sort of criminal.
It was all Jason’s fault that I was right there at that moment, and somehow I was sure I was going to make him pay. That was if I made it out alive after the ten days his lunatic Luna had given me.
Finding my mate filled me with hope and despair at the same time. I knew where my second chance mate was, but then, I could tell that he was also going to be an asshole just like Jason had been and that gave an awful lot of concern.
“There you go…” the commentator behind them said as they had finally come to a dimly lit cell some moments and some and some dark passages later. “Carefully… Alpha Asher is very interested in this one. Otherwise she would have been passed up to us.”
“You think so?” One of the men holding me asked as they gave me a gentle push into the cell which for some reason had a rugged floor. It felt a lot like a set up.
“I know so.” The commentator continued as all three of them stood watching me like I was some sort of artifact in a museum. “The way he stared at her speechlessly was a complete giveaway.”
The looks they gave me, along with the fact that they suspected something between their alpha and me made me completely uncomfortable. I had no idea whether to sit or stand while listening to all that they had to say.
And to make it all worse, the anxiety of knowing time was running out made it hard for me to rest at all. I knew I had already wasted a couple of hours in the ten days I had been given.
“I just hope Alpha is making the right choice keeping her here. Our enemies have been working tirelessly and it could be that they have come up with a plan.” One of the men said, making me glad that the attention was already moving away from me having anything to do with their Alpha.
“I’m not a spy…” I had to defend myself there as I was tired of the allegations which didn’t make sense in any way.
“The fact that you keep saying it makes you even more of a suspect…” Asher’s voice reverberated with so much authority from the other end of the corridor and that made everyone stand still.
‘Here he goes again…’ I sighed as I just didn’t know how I was meant to stand still with the way my heart was doing a sprint in my chest. My whole body felt like throwing itself at him as that would solve the problem of my curse as well as my unspeakable longings.
“Alpha…” the three men chorused at the same time as Asher signalled for them to leave us. That made me a lot more comfortable as it was just the two of us and our insanely strong desires.
His scent filled the air all around me and that made me forget about how famished I was from all I had gone through. I tried all I could to dig deep into my mind to find all the things I had read about being seductive.
I had just ten days to live and I wasn’t going to waste it on any petty talk about me being a spy or not. I wanted to get him to mark me instantly. But then, everything about him seemed like seduction in motion.
Talk about a walking sin with a crown of raven black hair. His piercing gray eyes looked through my soul as I scanned him from head to toe. His muscular build was something the ladies would die for and he was in a different league from Jason.
The permanent scowl on his face was meant to make him seem unfriendly, but it made him even more attractive and Alpha-like. The number of times my eyes had run through him from head to toe was unhealthy but I seemed to find something new to make me wonder each time I looked.
‘Can you stop zoning out already?” He called my attention back in a rude authoritative manner that made me gasp as my mind was imagining him use that tone on me while we were in bed. “Are we going to have this conversation or not?”
“Yeah… sure…” I took a deep breath as I hated the way it seemed like I was the one who wanted him more than he wanted me. I was going to take on the almost impossible task of flipping the scale if I wanted to get what I wanted. “Like I said, I’m not a spy, and you should calm down with all these allegations. I was just banished and…”
I suddenly stopped as I was trying to think of a seductive word or phrase to chip in, but nothing was forthcoming. I froze right at the moment where it mattered the most.
“And..?” Asher asked, impatiently, like he wasn’t burning up like I was. “What the heck is this all about?”
“Aren’t you burning for me as well?” I just had to let that out, just to be sure that he was actually the one I was feeling the attraction for.
He didn’t reply and that made me really curious to know what was going on in that head of his, as he stood there acting like he wasn't feeling anything. I needed him to be all over me and not for me to play the desperation card and be at his mercy.
My heart skipped a beat when he took a step closer to the bars of the cell. I was indecisive for a moment, but I quickly decided to take a step further. The moment his hand reached through the rather wide space between the bars to get to me, I was sure I was making progress.
The feeling of his hand on my neck made me breathless without him applying any force on me. I was anticipating he would reach down to my tits which were visible through that dress. And at once, I closed my eyes and braced for impact.
“I will see you in the morning…” His words forced my eyes open as he took a part of me away with his hand. That left me feeling hollow. “Be ready…”
“For what…?” I watched him turn and walk away before I could finish asking. What had suddenly gotten into him?
