I stood up from the chair, walking towards Sylvia. Vivienne would always plot against her, I've always known that.

The moment I got to her, my gaze locked on hers.

“So, tell me. Why did you steal Vivienne's ring?” I asked, and I could see the lump that formed in her throat.

“I didn't steal the lady's ring, Alpha. I had returned to my room drenched with the rain, however, I'm surprised that the ring which should have been washed by the rain is still covered in dirt.” Sylvia said, her gaze darting to Vivienne. 

The two held their gazes for a moment, unspoken words lingering in the air as they stared at each other with so much venom in their eyes. 

“So, are you implying that she's lying? How dare you!” I roared at Sylvia, making her flinch and I would admit, I liked to watch her break knowing the only person who'd still get to fix her is me. 

Sylvia's throat tightened as I watched her hands grab a handful of her cloth, fear seeping into her body as she tried to mask it.

She was getting scared, thinking I was believing Vivienne over her.

Vivienne on the other hand had a smile on, one that reached her face.

She moved closer to me, swirling her gown as she tugged at my arms.

“Alpha, this maid has been so disrespectful to me, humiliating me in your territory” she spoke, her tone sounding so pitiful.

“But this time, she had don't it so wrong. She took the ring you gave to me” Vivienne added.

I held Vivienne by the waist, pulling her so close to me as she smiled while resting her head on my chest.

Sylvia saw this but averted her gaze quickly, tightening her jaws.

The ring was my grandmother's, and I hadn't given it to Vivienne, she had begged for it.

I turned my back to the spectators, pulling Vivienne closer as my lips moved to her ears.

“Let it go, Vivienne.” I told her and she raised her head in shock, but I was quick to stick her head back in my chest.

“We both know she's innocent, Vivienne! Do that and you'll get to spend the night with me in my room tonight” The moment I said this, Sylvia who was close to us heard and gasped, her gaze coming to me while her tears stung her eyes.

I didn't care about her and just took my gaze back to Vivienne who was smiling with her head buried in my chest.

“Understood, Alpha” she said, then moved feet away from me.

I sighed and crossed my arms, still facing Vivienne.

“So what do you want me to do with her?” I asked, knowing Vivienne would surely let it go with the promise I had made to her.

She pouted her lips, then groaned. “I just want a warning for her, Alpha. I've decided to overlook her lack of manners” Vivienne said to the surprise of the council members.

She had assembled everyone of them with the intent of getting rid of Sylvia once and for all. I had been informed about this, and that was the reason why I knew trying to defend Sylvia publicly might not work this time.

“So be it, then.” I said, then faced Sylvia, lifting her chin up with my hand.

“Vivienne wants only a short punishment for you, and I've decided to give you that later.” I told her, watching the way she stared at me defiantly with her teeth clashing inside her mouth.

“For now, you can leave” I let go of Sylvia who bowed reluctantly before her gaze landed on Vivienne once more before she exited the hall.

“I'll punish her like my Lady wants. I guess that's all?” My darkened gaze moved to the council members who cleared their throat and bowed, then exited the hall one after the other after exchanging darkened glances with Vivienne who was smiling all through.

She had gone against the plan they all had before they came into the hall and I'm sure a part of them felt betrayed.

But Vivienne didn't care as she had achieved something out of the show she staged. She was going to have the luxury of spending a night with me.

When the elders had left, the whole place was cool and quiet when Fiona's footsteps echoed around the hall as she stopped in front of me and bowed.

“I'll also take my leave, Alpha” she bowed and walked out before I could even respond.

Vivienne also turned to me. “Then, I'll see you tonight, Alpha” she smiled sheepishly as she walked out after Fiona.

I sighed, getting seated as I went through the scrolls that had been taken round the pack, checking for any urgent matter that needed to be tended to.

In the evening, I returned to my room, knowing Vivienne would surely show up as she would never miss a chance like this.

She did at minutes past eight, knocking gently on my door while my voice rang, letting her in.
