The Warrior Luna

The Warrior Luna
Dawn, Cora, Sawyer, Amora and Braydon left the next afternoon for their new adventures, after a tearful goodbye and lots of promises to visit soon.

White Bridge Castle suddenly felt emptier without them around and I could tell that Malachi was itching to get back to Shadowfen... well, what was left of it.

"We'd better head home soon as well." He'd said to Lucian as the others disappeared from our view.

My Father and Rhydian had convinced him to stay here for another two days, and kept sneaking sly glances at each other. If I hadn't spent so much time by my Fathers side, then I probably wouldn't have noticed - but I could tell clear as day that there was something they was keeping from us.

It had been a week already that we'd been here, so I pushed those feelings aside.

Only two more days... I kept repeating to myself over and over again as a mantra.

"Hey, Aurelia. Can we take a walk?" Landon asked nervously and I looked at Malachi in surprise. He nodded with a smile and jogged off towards the others.

"What's up?" I asked as we began strolling towards the side of the Castle and he moaned as if he was in pain.

"Are you ok?" I asked, looking down at his leg which no longer held a limp. I was impressed with how quickly it healed for him, but I knew his strength as a Beta helped.

"You're Father..." He winced, and I burst out into laughter. Poor Landon. My Father had barely had him in his grasp for two days and he was already moving full steam ahead.

"Hey! It's not funny! I've never been so stressed out in my life! I was comfortable as a Beta - just as my Father was, and now everything has gone crazy and all of a sudden I'm going to be an Alpha and this is my home!" He said quickly, throwing his hands up in the air and I immediately felt a pang of guilt. He was only in this position because of my suggestion.

"My Father, well, he can definitely be a hard man - but everything he does right down to the tiniest detail, is for a reason. As a Beta, you know how this works more than anyone and everyone has so much faith in you. You know what you're doing and what needs to be done - you just need to get to know the pack and the rest will slip into place." Landon's shoulders visibly relaxed at my words, and memories came back from Rhydian's own pep talk with me.

A small giggle escaped my lips.

"What are you laughing at now..." He sighed, which made me laugh even harder.

"When I arrived at Shadowfen, I was a hell of a mental mess. I always thought that I was being groomed to be the Alpha of Whitebridge, so I didn't think I'd know how to be a Luna - especially for a pack that I didn't know. Rhydian pretty much gave me a similar pep talk." I gasped in between laughter, realising that history just kept repeating itself.

Landon cracked a smile and shook his head in amusement.

"So all it took for you was, a pep talk?" He chuckled.

"In hindsight - yes. It definitely gave me a bit of courage to take the first step into making the Luna position my own. Even though I still really haven't had time to catch my breath and actually be a Luna." Creases appeared on his forehead as he frowned slightly at my words.

"You've been more than a Luna to Shadowfen, Aurelia. I've never met such a fierce, determined woman in my life - who's willing to risk her own life for her pack like you did. Hell, you even saved my life. You're the Warrior Luna." He said, and I could tell by the look in his eyes that he meant every single word.

"Thanks, Landon." I smiled softly, "But is this about me, or can we go back to you?" I teased and he rolled his eyes at me.

"So what is it exactly that you're after from me?" I asked, not really feeling like he was convinced yet.

"How did you do it? How did... Ezra do it?" He said nervously at the mention of my brothers name.

"It's ok, Landon. I fought and was very outspoken about the changes I wanted to make when I first started, but I quickly realised that it was easier to just sit down, shut up and listen. Let him help you build the foundation as an Alpha, and then once you're in power then the rest is up to you to decide what you want to do. As for Ezra..." I trailed off for a second and smiled at the sky.

"He spent most of his teen years just training and playing around with his friends. My Father didn't give him half of the attention that he gave me, and to be honest - I still don't really understand why. I've always been worried about his place, underneath Lucian. He was so spirited and carefree and didn't have any experience whatsoever until I was packed up and shipped off. He took it all in his stride, but I know he struggled. He wasn't cut from the same block, if I'm going to be honest and I really didn't want to see his spirit crushed under the weight of so much responsibility."

We kept strolling along the edge of one of the beautiful gardens, both lost in our own thoughts.

"Thanks, Aurelia - for everything." He finally said, breaking the silence after a few minutes and I smiled at him.

"Don't forget you have Macie by your side as well, even if you have to fake it for a bit while she whispers the information you need into your ear." He blushed at the thought of his mate whispering into his ear, and I playfully swatted him.

"I don't want to know what you guys whisper to each other." I pretended to be sick and he gently shoved my shoulder.

"She's incredible." He breathed, his eyes full of adoration for the mousy girl and I knew that my friend would be well looked after at his side.

We reached the back of the castle and walked inside, parting ways to find our mates.

My mind flicked back to our earlier conversation.

I was the Warrior Luna.
