Chapter 19 FATED GLANCES
Lucian's pov
I glanced at my wrist, counting down the hours before this party would finally end.
My friends had dragged me here against my will, especially my closest one my beta. He said that I was always so stiffly just about responsibilities and I should try to enjoy myself sometimes.
He also hinted that I could get some 'action' tonight I had to reiterate for about a million times that I wasn't going to get any action unless that person was my mate.
But as always several women were trying their luck with me some of them all but shoved their chest right into my face I had to find a way to escape from them every time they showed up but all I had to do was blink and they would close that around me again in a suffocating manner.
I couldn't exactly blame them for hovering around me like this, I was an alpha my aura said it even before I walked into a room and it strung through every action I did, but I wasn't about to pick just any random woman that through herself at me I was waiting for the one that's the moon goddess has had picked for me and me alone.
There was a blonde who was particularly more persistent than others she was all over me and I was ready to just call the entire banquet quits, I was not even that particularly close to the gamma that had thrown it my beta was and he had baggered me until I finally agreed to come along now this was my punishment for agreeing.
"Why are you standing alone by yourself? Trust me I'll make great company," the way she was unnaturally swaying her body to bring out her curves seem to annoy me more than it should at least the other women were able to catch the hint after I constantly refused them but this blonde one was really finding its difficult to get it through her skull that I was not interested, she was trying out all her tricks and perhaps it's hard worked out for her in the past but it definitely wasn't going to work now and I was gradually running out of patience.
I mindlinked my Beta telling him that I was ready.
"Lucian you can't leave now I already promised my friend that he would stay for most of the charity banquet, and you know that most people will donate more if they know that you are here,"
Of course, it would be their own little way of trying to impress me everyone was always trying to get something from me like flesh-hungry vultures just begging for a piece.
"Fine, I'll stay but tell him to hurry up I have other things to do,"
There wasn't particularly anything else on my schedule other than to sleep when I get back to the hotel that I had lodged in for tonight but I just wanted to say that so that I could get my rest.
I thought that by the time I was done with my mind link the blonde woman would be gone but instead, she seemed more persistent she had even found a way to sneakishly wrap her hand around mine and that was when I yanked my whole arm away and stepped towards another woman who had a pensive look on her face and a wine glass in her hand.
I placed my hand over her shoulder with a fake sigh of relief.
"Honey where have you been all night I have been looking all over for you I almost gave up," I hope that she will see the look of pleading in my eyes and help me out I'm surprisingly she did.
The blind woman seemed to finally be discouraged with the thought that I was taken for tonight. She threw a nasty look at the woman who I had my hand over her shoulder and then stomped away like she had something snatched away from her.
She was gone I took my hand from the woman's shoulder and placed it in my pocket.
"Sorry about that, but she was really getting on my nerves and I'm required to stay longer here so..."
"It's fine," she said but she was hardly even looking at me that was new almost every other woman that I met was instantly all over me the moment they had the chance but this woman hardly even looked my way.
"My name is Lucian-" she hardly even lets me finish that sentence then she was hummed something in acknowledgments and continued looking around like she was waiting for someone else.
I know it was a little hypocritical of me but this was the first time in my life that I was being treated as if I were no more than a piece of furniture.
I was curious as to who and why had captured her attention so much and that interest made me look at her longer than I would have any random woman.
She had her curves in all the right places and she wasn't trying to show off if she even did I don't think I would hate it either.
There was something about the way she carried herself even as she looked deeply troubled there was this elegance that wrapped itself around her enveloping her entire presence, all of a sudden I wanted to speak to her not just walk away but before I could even voice out a word her heels carried her across the banquet hall over to a pot bellied beta of a small pack, I recognized him with ease.
He was already long married but he kept several affairs outside.
Was that mysterious woman also one of such?
I found it hard to believe that someone like her would be hanging around loose, but my eyes continued to follow them until I noticed that he went to a VIP area with her, and I came to a crossroads about what I should do.
