Chapter 14 THE ALPHA’S RETURN
Celestia's POV
Perhaps I was never meant to have a moment of peace
Not much else could explain why this man had returned.
This time he did not come alone, he dressed accordingly telling people that he was an Alpha with his scent mannerisms, and everything that' could throw that signal out there, escorting him two too stiff-looking guards.
Most of the warriors were on patrol; the ones that remained had surrounded him, but I could see fear painted in their eyes. Most of them were just trained in basic combat skills and self-defense; they could not go toe to toe with an alpha and well-trained guards.
Each step I took caused my knees to buckle and my throat to nearly close up before I reached him at the entrance of the camp.
As if that was not ridiculous enough he was holding a bouquet of roses that looked like they had seen better days.
"Raphael," I called his name underneath my breath, "what are you doing here and back like this too?"
He swept his eyes around my camp. That same degrading look planted in both of his eyeballs returned to me with a mixture of pity and that same disgust.
"I came back to give you another chance,"
More people were giving us strange looks. I can't believe he showed up like this. Now everyone will believe that the rumor of me working with pack wolves to sell off our people was true.
"I don't need any more of your chances here's the thing I don't need you either and I never want you to come back here or else you will not believe in this peacefully again,"
He shook his head as if I were the demented one.
"Celestia, how long are you going to keep lying to yourself that you are comfortable living like this? Here I am giving a golden opportunity to have some of the life that you used to have before and you are throwing it away. Do you know how foolish you are right now?"
I was beginning to run out of more and more of my patience, so I stomped forward causing the dust beneath my feet to rise and fall. I maintained piercing eye contact with him, elucidating every word so that it could get through his thick skull.
Suddenly he was down on one knee and I had never felt so much revulsion in my entire life as I robotically quoted a love poem like he was reading off a script.
"... Can't you see how much I care about you all these years without you have been purely torture and nothing else I still love you more than life itself and I want you to give us a second chance, how about that?"
"You had your chance to pick me all those years back, to choose us and it's not like you're even being sincere right now if you thought that a romantic relationship was what I was chasing after you are dead wrong,"
His eyes flashed with a warning and he was up on his feet tossing the already miserable roses to the ground.
"This is why the Media will always be a much better woman than you, she is never half the trouble that you are,"
I growled, "Then if she's so perfect why are you here bothering me? Go back to your picture-perfect family and leave me alone. What I have may not be perfect in your eyes but I don't need to explain myself to you just go!"
He grunted and grumbled something underneath his breath, but he saw that I was steadily my fangs and ready to fight, he hissed and signaled his men to leave with him one of them unloaded a missile of spit towards one of my warriors who took it as an affront to his pride he launched at Raphael's guard who reacted faster than anyone could have imagined hitting him with a hook under the chin.
He crashed back against another warrior, both of them collapsing at the same time and by the time I had rushed over to their side to check on their injuries and looked up Raphael was already gone but I knew this wasn't over.
The warrior had broken a tooth and the other warrior who had acted as an unintentional cushion for the blow he got bore a dislocated hand as a result.
"Quick they are both badly injured we need to take them to the medic tent"
I said clearly loud enough for everyone to pick up yet everyone just stared at me for the longest time as if they had been frozen in place, I repeated what I had said earlier and some warriors came forward sluggishly carrying them over to the medic camp the others that remain they gave me funny looks though they were not so funny anymore they were more so tense like I was about to deliver an unexpected hook to them too.
I decided that I was sweeping the issue under the carpet for too long, so that night I gathered my camp around a large fire.
I stood at the center of the gathering while the rest of them looked towards me for explanation.
"This goes against rogue rules but since it has come to this I will spill the beans I indeed used to have connections with that alpha that came earlier, he was a member of the pack I used to be a part of…the alpha as you have probably already been able to tell," I swallowed a deep breath, "in regards to evidence the only thing I can rely on is my words alone and the things I have done for you all if that is not enough then you are free to leave I will hold no one back,"
That night nobody left and I thought that I had finally put all the madness behind me.
