Chapter 53

Chapter 53

Twila's POV
The moment they touched me I found myself in a dark room.
“Where am I?” I panicked. Did they fool me and trap me in their darkness?
Just then, the door was pushed open and the light flicked on. Four men walked in with a pregnant woman behind them. I hid behind a shelf in the room. I wasn't sure I was there in flesh or mind.
“We have to do this now.” The lady spoke. She had a very fair skin which shone under the bright light. Her White hair flowed down to her back, balancing her queenly look.
“I totally agree. We must do this before the blood moon.” One of the men said.
“This is foolish. Why give up our powers just like that?” Another spoke. He had a jet black colored hair. He seemed to be the tallest of the lot and he commanded a dark presence.
I rubbed my eyes. ‘Was I seeing things now?’ I wondered.
The first guy that talked looked like one of the shadow slayers. I turned my gaze to the other men in the room. It was them.
The three shadow slayers, another guy and a lady. ‘What was going on?’ I wondered.
“I thought we talked about this Zamiel?” The lady addressed the unfamiliar man.
“Come on Ophelia. Do you really think this is what's best? Think about our daughter.. how do we protect her?” He argued.
“You know we still loose our powers either way. Why not sacrifice it in a way that can protect this nation?” One of the Shadow slayers tried persuading him.
After much argument, he reluctantly agreed. Then, the lady brought out a beautiful white stone and then, the four men stretched forth their hands to the stone, filling it with every ounce of power in them.
After that, I was pulled by a force to another scene.
The lady was having her baby. It was a beautiful baby girl. They all seemed thrilled to have the baby in their midst. They all swore to protect her.
Then, I was pulled to another scene where the shadow slayers were murdered by Zamiel. In his wolf form, he slaughtered them as they tried to stop him from trying to get the Moonstone for himself.
“What have you done?!” Ophelia screamed in dread. He shifted back to his human form.
“You have nothing to worry about. Now I have the Moonstone, our daughter has no use for the rest of them. I can protect her alone.” He said with a smile that scared Ophelia.
“How could you? They were your friends!”
“This nation needs just one ruler and that is me.” Zamiel said, showing no sign of remorse.
He walked towards the Moonstone, but with a wave of her hand, Ophelia's magic threw him to the wall. He stood up almost immediately, spat out blood.
“I knew you'd be stubborn.” He smirked and started chanting some words. Almost immediately, he transformed into something dark. He wasn't a wolf, he was more of a beast. Darkness oozed from him.
“You embraced the darkness..” Ophelia was disappointed.
“I am the one true Alpha, the ruler of all, protector of this realm. Every power here is mine!” His voice thundered.
“I can't believe I loved you. You were always selfish!!”
“And you were always blind!” He said. “Too blind to realize I was all this family needed.”
“Well, I guess this is the end.” Ophelia said sadly and with the Moonstone now in her hands, along with her powers, she trapped Zamiel, sending him deep into the darkness far from existence.
But before he was fully trapped, Zamiel struck his little baby with a portion of his darkness.
I froze.
How could someone do that to his own child?
Just then, Ophelia walked to her baby. She kissed her forehead.
“I'm sorry he got to you.” She cried and then with her magic, she placed the child in a cocoon, trapping her in stasis.
A tear escaped my eyes.
“Until the birth of a new set of protectors—alphas who will readily fight for you—this cocoon will keep you safe, my child.”
With that, Ophelia and the cocoon disappeared.
The scene faded.

When I opened my eyes, I was back to reality.
“What was that?” I asked. Orion and Azrael had come around at this time but they were outside the dome.
“Ophelia is the Moon goddess and just like you she was surrounded by four Alphas. Unfortunately she chose the wrong one.” One of the Shadow slayers spoke. “He betrayed us. All he wanted was power.” This time, the hatred was visible in his voice.
“And what has this got to do with me?”
“You know.” Another spoke. “You're the baby.”
“That's not possible. I wasn't even born that time.” I argued.
“The cocoon explains it all. Ophelia trapped you to protect you.” The last replied.
I inhaled and exhaled deeply. “Let's say what you're saying is true, then who are my parents?”
“The family Ophelia found worthy to raise her child after all these years.”
“This is stupid! Don't listen to anything they have to say.” Zackfronth said, his strength growing weaker.
I was confused. It made no sense but I could sense they were telling the truth.
“Why didn't she raise me herself?” I asked and they went quiet.
“Only Ophelia can answer that.” The Las one said.
I wiped the tears that had been flowing down my eyes.
“So what has that got to do with the Eastern Kingdom?” I frowned, my anger rising. “Why have you been haunting them?”
“We were killed here and then we became vengeful spirits, trapped in this Kingdom. We were lost in the darkness but your light has freed us. Thank you.” They replied and bowed again.

Authoress's POV
Twila stretched forth her hand and the chains that bound them were broken.
“Arise!” She ordered. “Today, these people are no more tied to you, you have no rights to harm them.” She said.
“Thanks to you.” They said, “We are eternally indebted to you. When you need us the most, just call us and we'll be there.” With that, they disappeared.

The light dome slowly faded, revealing them—Zackfronth on one knee, gasping for breath. His body was scorched with glowing sigils, but he was alive.
Twila rushed to his side, falling beside him.
“You did it,” she whispered.
“No,” he rasped. “We did.”
