Chapter 90 - The Luna He Rejected

It took a while, but finally my pack was starting to fall into place. I had a lot of cleaning to do. My father had done several shady businesses, and I was trying to clean my pack from that. Even though I was successful, I still had a long way to go. I had to make several changes in my enterprise to earn money for the pack.

Ivy and Kaid had been nice enough to give me a loan that I had to pay back, to help me with some of the bills. My father was also convicted for the crimes he committed. He had to spend eighty years in prison. The crimes, trafficking werewolves, deviating founds, mistreatment of several pack members, and even murder.

When I found out the evidence I couldn’t believe it. I knew my father wasn’t great, but I never imagined that he was a freaking monster. I had to keep everyone in the dark, to see who was involved. Of course, his beta and gamma knew, even my own beta was involved. I couldn’t believe it. He was like a brother to me, and he betrayed everything he swore to when he became my beta. And all for what? For money. That was all they got from that deal; money.

I was still in my office, finishing some calls, when my new Beta came. I chose the people that were helping me with Ivy. I didn't know how she knew, but she could tell when someone was lying. And so, she came and helped me choose my Beta, and I have to admit, he was a great choice.

Joseph was a year younger than me, and before he became my beta, he was one of my elite warriors. He always proved to be someone intelligent, who always came up with great strategies. And he was right under my nose, just that I didn't take him into account before.

"Hi Joseph, do you need something?" I had changed the way I talked to everyone. I was nicer, and tried to be comprehensive. Also, I chose to follow Kaid's example, and stopped using my title. People weren't forced to call me Alpha, they could now all call me Alexander if they wanted to.

That has made people approach me more. I could understand their problems better, and the slaves that once belonged to the pack were now free and some of them had left to try to find their mates. I had seen firsthand how much people in the pack had changed, and also it was eye-opening because I finally could see how many bullies there were in the pack.

Most of them were my previous friends, some changed, others didn't, but at least they didn't harm pack members anymore. I had to implement new laws, so they would follow them. And all these changes were because of Ivy. I didn't want anyone to feel what she felt, and I was not going to let anyone else be mistreated in my pack.

Ares and I were also speaking once again. He was still mad because of how I treated Ivy, but we were getting better each day. What I did to him was unforgettable, because there was a possibility that we would never find a new mate. That thought always lingered in my mind, and I hoped that the Moon Goddess one day realized that I had changed and would forgive me. I prayed to her every night to ask her for forgiveness, and to guide my path to redemption.

“Yes Alp- Alexander. The king asked for a meeting.” That was strange, they usually communicated with me directly. “They tried reaching you, but I think you were on another call.”

That explained it. I have been very busy all day, so my phone has been busy.

“I’m going to call him then, you can stay here if you want, or do you need to do something else?” Joseph moved his head to the side to tell me no, and so I proceeded to call Kaid.

We collaborate a lot now. My father had been in charge of trafficking, but it was of common wolves. There was another mystery that we were trying to solve, and that was who kidnapped the Lunas from the North.

The phone ranged three times, then I heard Kaid answer it, but before he could speak I heard Ivy laughing with their son, Killian. That made my heart ache. I couldn’t help it. If I hadn’t messed it up like I did, that could have been my life.

“Hello Alexander, just give me a second to get to my office.” He said goodbye to Ivy and their son and I could hear the steps until he reached another place that was quieter.

“Okay. Alpha, I wanted to discuss something with you.”

“Of course, your majesty, what can I help you with?”

“I need your help investigating a lead that we have, but for that I’m emailing you.” I signaled Joseph, so he could open up my laptop and hand it over to me.

Once he did, I opened my email and saw all the information that Kaid had sent me. There were several documents. Apparently, he had been in this investigation for quite some time, and it talked about a wolf that claimed to be the “rogue king.”

In the investigation, it included several names of different Alphas who were suspected of collaborating with this person.

“How did you find out about him?” He must have suspected something from somewhere, or someone came to him with the information.

Kaid didn’t answer immediately, meaning that he wasn’t comfortable telling me the truth. That could only mean one thing. This was related to Ivy. And if that was the case, he had my complete and absolute help.

“Don’t worry, you don’t have to tell me about it, what do you need me to investigate exactly.” Kaid sighed, I guess he wanted to trust me, but he couldn’t still.

I can’t blame him either. I made some really stupid decisions in the past, and even if time has passed, and I had changed a lot, it was not so easy to take out the impression of how I previously was from someone’s mind.

Even my pack members had to take a while until they could see me as someone new. Most of them feared me, and saw me as the devil. I had to work hard for my reputation to improve. To gain people’s trust was way harder than to lose it, and I still had a long way to go.

“Look, Ivy has a hunch, and we have realized that there is suspicious activity there. You can see that we have tracked them for a while, but we need someone to go there and see if they could get more information.” I looked at everything. Apparently, this was in Alaska.

“And how am I going to get in?” I couldn’t just go there and start investigating them, from what I could understand. I had to work as a spy.

“There is an event, open to everyone, to help the people from the pack to find their mates. Apparently, lots of them haven’t found their mates yet, and they think it is because they haven’t visited other packs.” Oh, I know where this is going.

“So I have to pretend like I’m going there to look for a mate.” Fantastic.

“Yes, that is the plan Ivy and I came up with, but if you have another one we could discuss it.” I had to admit it wasn’t a bad plan, and taking into account that they were so up north they didn’t have a clue what was going on here.

Even if they knew I had a mate and all she did, it was still acceptable for me to look for another mate. What I didn’t want them to find out was that the king and I were on good terms. That would make them hide all the possible evidence, making my trip obsolete.

“I like your plan, we just have to come up with a story of how I found out about this event. They can’t know that it came from you, or that we are-.” I didn’t know how to call it. We weren’t friends, but we weren’t enemies either.

“Perfect, those fine details. We can discuss them later. I’ll send the invitation via email. You have to confirm your assistance in two weeks, so we have that time left.”

We talked about other stuff, how my pack has been, business and so on. When we hung up, I looked at my beta, to see what he thought. He hadn’t found his mate either, so it would be a good plan to go there.

“What do you think, Joseph?”

“Ivy’s idea is good, we just have to mature it properly.”

“I think so too. Also, I know you don’t have a mate, so would you like to come to this event as well?” I had to take some members for protection, but sometimes they don’t like for two high rank members to go at the same time, unless they have the same interest.

“Yeah, I don’t think I’m going to find my mate there, but I can help you out, and it is the perfect alibi.” I nodded, and the rest of the evening we spent it planning what we were going to do.

After we finished discussing everything, we finally got some rest. It was a long journey, one that I didn’t know what to think of.

And that was the start of Alexander’s journey, one where he was going to find what he desired most. But will he be able to handle it?
