Chapter 88 - The Luna He Rejected

Fear got the best of me. I felt my knees getting weak, but I didn’t feel any pain like when she was killed before. I looked at the scene in front of me, and realized that the blood wasn't coming from her. When Ivy threw Bianca's body to the side, it was clear who had lost. I looked at her, and her hand was full of blood, as she had pierced through her chest to get to her heart and end her life. Bianca still held the fine in her hand, but now her eyes were completely lifeless.

"How?" Was all I could mutter. My eyes didn't register fully what had happened.

"She didn’t take into account that I already know my only weakness.” I helped Ivy stand up from the floor. She was covered in blood so I checked her thoroughly to see where she was injured. I could see the knife that protruded from her side, but I didn’t want to take it out in case she started bleeding. Ivy sensed my hesitation because she took my hand from her body and took out the knife.

My face was probably one of true horror, but then I was astonished when I realized that she wasn’t bleeding at all. In fact, she looked okay. The few bruises that she had were slowly fading, and all that remained was dried blood.

“What happened?” She smiled at me and told me everything.

Ivy’s POV

Ten minutes ago…

She is not going to make me lose my temper. If she does, I lose. When I get mad, I make rushed decisions and that is something that I can’t afford right now.

“Or… we could play a little with her.” You know what she has in her power, Athena. Are we really going to risk it?

“Now you are a Lycan, Ivy. That affected us when we were just a werewolf, but we are far stronger now. Just leave it to me.” I’ll trust you, Athena, but tell me your plan ASAP.

“Make her believe that she got what she wanted. If you kill her while she is trying to kill you, then it is legitimate defense.” Got it. But we are going to get hurt, you know, and Kaid is going to feel it.

Athena whimpered inside my mind, even if it was a slight pain that he was going to feel, we didn’t want to cause him any harm. But what Athena was telling me was true. It was the best way to get rid of her. The council will probably sentence her to death as well, but they take their time to finish their sentence, and if she escapes during that time it will be hard to catch her again. This had to end right now.

And so, I let her think that I was getting angrier with each lie she blurted out. She was unaware of the advantage that I had over her, so she thought she was getting on my nerves, that I was really losing my temper.

Finally, she said something that if it was true, it could easily piss me off. She played with something sacred, and that was my possibility of having kids. I could manage the fact that she had revealed my identity for her own gain, but trying to mess with my future family? That was something that I would never let slide.

When she stabbed me on my side I already knew that she had drugged me with. Fucking Moon Flower. It was a rare flower that only grew in the mountains once a year. It was a blue and white flower that looked like an orchid, but in the center it had a yellow circle that glowed, looking like the moon itself.

That was what they used when they kidnapped me, and Oscar was so kind to explain what to do if I was drugged ever again. Still, I had to let her think that I was clueless, that she had won, and that I couldn’t move a muscle.

I let her approach me with the knife in her hand, the one that was supposed to end my life. The madness in her eyes was slowly overcome with joy. She was a freaking psychopath with no redemption whatsoever.

Alexander messed up a lot. He did a lot of damage, but he was trying to make up for it. He had changed into a better person, but Bianca? She was the same rotten apple as before.

I started smelling Kaid’s scent, and fear started taking over me. I didn’t want him to get hurt if he tried to stop Bianca, so I needed her to act fast, and thankfully she was ready to finally “end me.”

“Time for you to die bitch.” Bianca said as she tried to plunge the knife into my chest, but I was quicker. I extended my claw to her chest, where I grabbed her heart and crushed it.

She looked at me, her surprise was evident. Then she looked at her chest, while her life slipped through her fingers. She wanted to mutter something, but she was too weak to do so.

“Never underestimate your opponent, Bianca.” I said to her close to her ear, almost like a whisper. But what she told me next got me thinking.

“Hope you are ready for him then sis.” And then she dropped dead.

Was she trying to play more mind tricks with me? Most likely, so I just shrugged it off. Even if people tried to come after me, I was going to be ready for everything. I had several advantages that no one knew about, and still had one side of me that I had to discover.

I couldn’t continue rambling, as I felt Bianca’s body being lifted from mind. Kaid’s face came into view, his worry evident. He helped me get on my feet and then started examining me. His eyes went straight into the knife, but he was debating on whether to take it out or not.I made the decision for him, and once again, he was surprised that I wasn’t injured at all.

Once I explained everything to him, he looked like he was in shock. He mumbled something that I couldn’t understand and then hugged me so hard to the point that I couldn’t breathe.

“Honey, you are suffocating me.” He released me from his hug, to cup my cheeks and kiss me deeply.

“Don’t you ever scare me like that again. I almost had a heart attack.” He said while he put his head in the crock of my neck. He was smelling my scent to calm down, and I could understand him completely.

If the roles were changed I don’t know how I would have reacted. But finally it was over. Bianca could no longer hurt us, and peace could finally enter our lives.

“I won’t do it again, we won.” I patted his back, but he refused to let me go.

We stayed like that for a while. We needed physical contact to know that we were together, and nothing had happened and that we were safe.

I felt Kaid loosen his grab, telling me that it was finally time to return to the council. They probably had to deal with a lot of stuff as well, as the explosion had killed and harmed several people.

While we were returning, I could hear Kaid’s inner struggle. He wanted to help me get stronger, but he didn’t know how. Also, he didn’t want to take Bianca’s body, but as king he had to. He couldn’t leave it there to rot, he had to follow protocol and ask if someone wanted to take it. The first person to ask was Alexander, and then my dad if he didn’t want to do anything with the body.

That was a problem for another day. I wanted to enjoy the time that I had with my mate.

Six months later...

After I killed Bianca, we returned to our house and everything was back to normal. Well, for the most part. Today I woke up feeling extremely dizzy, while Kaid looked too energetic to be true. He has also had some strange cravings, while I didn't want to eat at all. This has happened for a couple of weeks, but I didn't know if it was work, or the lack of food, but I was so tired. If I could, I would sleep all day, my body just felt drained of its energy.

"My love, I brought us breakfast!" Kaid said while he entered the room. The smell of eggs and fresh bread made my stomach uneasy, and I threw up.

Kaid heard me, because he quickly entered the bathroom to help me with my hair. It looked like a rat's nest, as I hadn't taken a shower because of how bad I felt.

"Are you okay baby?" His voice was sweet and full of worry. I must look like a mess.

"No, I think I'm going to get sick." I looked at him, he looked so handsome, and I looked so messy that I wanted to cry. That was another thing. My emotions have been all over the place. I'm happy, the next second I'm sad, the next one I'm furious, and then I return to happiness.

"I'm going to call the doctor." He left the bathroom to do so, and I mind-linked Silvia to tell Esmeralda to come here, in case what I was feeling had something to do with being a witch.

I heard a knock on the door, and then Esmeralda and Kaid spoke. He was explaining to her my symptoms and reassured her that he had already called the doctor in case it had nothing to do with anything supernatural, but with my physical body. She asked several more questions, and then I heard her footsteps approaching me.

"Ivy, are you okay?" She sat next to me while she massaged my back.

"No, I feel like crap." She got near my ear and whispered:

"When was the last time you had your period?" Damn, I can't recall the last time I had it.

I stood up and quickly rushed to my room. I opened my cellphone and looked for the app that helped me track it. When I looked at it, I paled. Seven days. My period was seven days late.

Esmeralda peeked from behind, and gave me a friendly hug. Kaid hadn't said a thing, he probably didn't understand what was going on.

The doctor arrived thirty minutes later. He wasn't the same guy that helped me when I died on the battlefield. He was older, but he gave you a sense of calmness that not everyone could bring to me.

"Luna, Alpha. I was told that you felt sick?" He asked and started taking some stuff from a bag that he had brought.

"Yes, I feel dizzy and irritable, and I don't want to eat anything at all." He nodded, understanding my symptoms. He did a quick physical exam, and then he wrote something on a piece of paper.

"This is for you, Luna, you need to take these vitamins until we have an ultrasound. Also, this is an order for laboratory tests. You have to do them as quickly as possible." Kaid and I looked at each other, ultrasound?

"Doctor, why does she need an ultrasound, is there something wrong with her?" Kaid was worried, it was obvious, and I didn't know what to think.

"Well, I can't confirm anything until she has those exams, your majesty."

"And what is it that you suspect?"

"Well, the symptoms indicate that the Luna is pregnant."
