Chapter 75 - The Luna He Rejected

I hadn’t spoken much, I knew Ivy wanted to handle it by herself, but they were starting to get on my nerves. The disrespect shown to Ivy was too much for me to handle. I realized that if Ivy focused on someone’s thoughts I could hear them out too, like we shared her power, so I knew what she was aiming for.

She wanted to break them, to make them sweat. We brought several recording devices inside our clothes, so if someone slipped, it could serve as evidence against them.

Ivy did great, mentioning her mother, but at the same time not disclosing much information about what she knew. I was waiting for what she had prepared to make them worry even more. And soon he arrived. A knock on the door came, and everyone became anxious to know who it was.

No one approached to open the door, but her stepmother was the one that looked more nervous. Another knock came, and I knew that I had to act.

“Are you going to answer it?” I asked. Soon they were taken out of their trance, and Ivy’s father approached the door. He hesitated to open it, but when another knock happened he knew he had to open it.

“Hello, I’m looking for Max Summers?” The man said to him. Of course, Max didn’t recognize him, he had no idea who he was. But Ivy and I did. He was the person that was going to make the killer show her true colors.

“I’m Max Summers, but I don’t recognize you. Who are you?” The other person gave him a card. “Oscar Milles? And what do you want from me?”

Oscar walked into the house. Of course, he didn’t look surprised when he saw Ivy and me in there. In fact, he gave us a kind smile to show them that we knew each other.

“Hi Oscar!” Ivy replied cheerfully, all of them looked at her, and something clicked inside everyone’s mind.

Oscar didn’t smell like a werewolf, he wasn’t one, but he didn’t smell like a witch either. He probably did a masking spell, so that Alexander wasn’t alerted of his arrival to his pack.

“Do you know this intruder, Ivy?” Alexander asked, and I didn’t like the tone he was using with my mate.

“I do, and he isn’t an intruder, he is my mom’s friend.” They all gasped in surprise. Now they knew that the information that Ivy had did not come from a nobody.

“Yes I am. Well, was. According to what Ivy told me, her mother is now deceased. Is that right?” He now looked at Max.

“She died giving birth to Ivy.” He continued saying that lie, but we would see how long it was going to last.

“I see. It was a long time ago. Luckily for my species, our bodies don’t decay. Our council has asked me to take her body back to our coven.” He handed them out a paper that had my stamp on it, accepting their request.

“That-that can’t be.” Ivy’s dad said while he held the paper in his hands.

“Yes it can, father. I’ve met my people, and my mom never belonged here. We are just informing you about what is going to happen, as I already know where her tomb is.” Ivy’s determination was clear. Did she know where her mother was buried? No. But did they know that she didn’t know? No.

Diana started sweating. It was clear that all the pressure was taking a toll on her.

“You can’t take her body!” Max yelled at Ivy, and for me that was enough disrespect towards my mate.

“And why the fuck not? Ivy asked you for something from her mother. You told us you discarded it like trash. You don’t care about her mom, then what is the fucking problem?” My tone was full of anger towards my father-in-law.

I could feel my aura slipping out. I tried to control it, but it was hard when emotions became intense. And then I heard it, what we were expecting to happen.

“No, they can’t take her. I thought that she was going to be rotten by now! I thought I got rid of her all those years ago!” It was Diana, finally she was giving out to the pressure.

“Now, if no one has anything else to say, we are going to take my mother-in-law. After I saw your reaction, I’m going to ask for another autopsy. Goodbye.” I took Ivy’s hand to take her out of the house. We knew who the killer was, and now we only needed her to confirm what we knew out loud.

“Can a drug last for long on a corpse? It should have disappeared by now, right?” Now she was trying to reassure herself, but thanks to Ivy’s gift, I knew what to do next.

I gave Ivy a kiss on her forehead. I looked into her eyes while I said:

“Don’t worry, my love, we’ll get to the bottom of this. It is a good thing that witches' bodies get preserved so well that nothing can escape an autopsy.” Ivy looked strangely at me, like she didn’t understand what I was talking about, luckily Oscar got my point.

“Oh yes! If anything was done to your mother, we will find out. In fact, there are several tracking spells that have helped us find murderers. Also, because of your mother’s position, her body is full of protection spells that can even record if someone approaches her with ill intentions.” I think this was the last straw for Diana, as she suddenly took off towards Ivy with a knife in her hand.

Ivy, of course, dodged her attack and disarmed her in an instant. She wasn’t aware that my mate knew how to defend herself, but she learned it when Ivy counterattacked and made her fall to the ground.

“And that my dear stepmother is attempting to murder the future queen.” Diana’s eyes were the ones of a crazy person. She finally lost it.

“You can’t do this to me, I didn’t even touch you!” She screamed while Ivy continued pressing her head. I had mind linked Stephan to come here and help us out with Diana. We hadn’t gotten the confession that we needed, but I was going to make sure we got it.

“Tsk, tsk Diana. You shouldn’t have done that. Trying to harm or even kill my mate is punished with death. I’m going to take you to my pack to deliver your sentence.” Her fear overpowered her, but then anger surfaced.

“Yes, I tried to kill you, but you should have died a long time ago! I got rid of that bitch for nothing!” Finally! She started blurting out what we needed.

“What do you mean Diana?” Max asked her, and it was clear that he was oblivious of what his current wife had done to his fated mate.

“Oh Max, you are so stupid. I did everything so that she couldn’t get pregnant. I knew someone that worked in the kitchen and gave her contraceptives constantly. Eventually, you got tired of trying to have kids with her, and you came to me. I got sure to get pregnant, but then you came out with that stupid idea of me impersonating up as a surrogate.” She huffed. I couldn’t believe the point she had reached to break up a fated couple.

“Then she became pregnant, but you needed to see that she wasn’t convenient for you. I always messed something with her food or water, so that she would feel sick. She wouldn’t lose her baby! I tried everything, but it didn’t work.” She started laughing like a maniac. She really seemed to have lost her mind.

“And then she gave birth, and at night I approached her. She knew everything that I had done and threatened to kill me, but I finally got myself a poison strong enough to kill her. She was so weak that it was easy to inject something into her IV. It was a blood thinner mixed with the poison that caused her to bleed to death while she also fought the toxin. In the end, it was too much, and she perished. Because the nurses found blood on her sheets, they thought that it was a complication from the pregnancy. It was easy to make the pack see Ivy as a curse, as the one responsible for her mother's death. Everyone despised her, and I was sure that someone was going to kill her, or that she was going to end her life." She was an evil person. From the inside, she was completely rotten. How could someone try to kill a baby? It was beyond me. Ivy's father looked as astonished as I was, it seemed he didn't expect that from her chosen mate.

"Why? Why did you kill her? I told you I was going to divorce her as we had several problems." She looked like a maniac, she was out of her freaking mind.

"Why? Because I couldn't leave it to chance for you to accept me. My daughter was not going to be an omega like I was! And you see, it worked out, she became Luna of this pack." Stephan finally arrived, and all she had said was enough to sentence her to death. She killed a beta female and damaged a fated bond for her own selfishness.

"Your majesty." Stephan said as he entered the house.

"Alpha Alexander, do you have dungeons available?"

"Yes, but-." He answered, but I didn't let him finish.

"Perfect, Stephan, please take her to the dungeon. As soon as we leave this pack we will take her to face her trials." Stephan nodded, Ivy moved, so Stephan could take Diana. When they left, I heard Bianca release a breath.

Oh boy, she had no idea what was coming next. This was far from over.
