Chapter 99: A Day with Rocco
Chapter 99: A Day with Rocco
Rocco’s P.O.V. Continued
As the conversation shifted to safer topics, Analina let out a small sigh of relief. She knew the day ahead would be another balancing act of emotions, decisions, and the ever-present danger of Draven’s shadow lingering over their lives. For now, though, she focused on sipping her juice, letting the voices around her create a temporary sense of normalcy at the breakfast table. “Before we do anything I have a doctor’s appointment with Doctor Lee this morning.” “That’s ok, what I have planned can wait until your done.” “Thank you.” She said as she breathes out a sigh of relief.
Ricco’s P.O.V.
After breakfast was over I followed Analina and Andros to their wing as Diego and Enzo trailed behind us. As we entered Analina’s room, I stayed close to the door, my hands casually stuffed into my pockets, though my heart was anything but casual. The air was thick with an unspoken tension, a mix of anticipation and apprehension that even Andros and the others seemed to sense. Doctor Lee was already there, setting up his equipment with a calm precision that only heightened the surreal nature of the moment.
Analina lay back on her bed, her delicate frame carefully positioned as Doctor Lee prepared for the check-up. Her five-month pregnancy showed gently but unmistakably, a visible testament to the new life growing inside her. I could feel my breath catch in my throat as I watched her place a protective hand over her stomach, her expression a blend of vulnerability and quiet strength. The room was silent except for the occasional murmur of Doctor Lee, explaining each step as he moved with practiced ease. My gaze was fixed on the monitor, where faint images began to form, and for a fleeting moment, the rest of the world faded away. I could not help but wonder—was the life we saw flickering on the screen connected to me? The question haunted me, yet it also filled me with an unexpected sense of wonder.
“You’re doing great, Analina,” Doctor Lee said warmly, his voice cutting through my thoughts. “Everything looks healthy so far. Would you like to hear the heartbeat?” Analina nodded, her face lighting up with a fragile smile. The sound that followed was unlike anything I had ever heard—a steady, rhythmic beat that seemed to echo not just in the room but in my very chest. I noticed Andros stiffen slightly, his jaw tightening, but his eyes softened as they remained fixed on Analina.
For my part, I remained rooted to the spot, arms still crossed but my heart pounding in sync with the sound of that tiny heartbeat. I did not know what the future held—none of us did—but in that moment, all the uncertainty seemed to pale in comparison to the miracle unfolding before us. Doctor Lee packed up his equipment and made his way out of the room. I walked over to Analina and Andros. “How about we go over baby names, now.” I suggested. “Any thoughts?” she asked me.
“I was thinking that whichever one is born first we can name him Nico.” “I like that, we’ll go with that.” “How about the second born being named Nero?” Andros asked running his hand through his hair. “I like it.” Analina says looking over at me waiting for me to speak. “I agree with it. I am going to leave now, see you in two weeks for our date before you leave for Mexico. Bye baby.” I said then I kissed her on lips before walking ou9t of the door.
Analina’s P.O.V.
The day unfolded in a series of delicate moments, each one woven with threads of hope, anticipation, and the unrelenting shadow of their circumstances. As Analina prepared for the rest of her day, she found herself reflecting on the heartbeat that had echoed through the room earlier—a sound so pure, it seemed to sweep away the weight of uncertainty, if only for a brief spell. Meanwhile, Rocco wandered the estate grounds, his thoughts a swirling mix of emotions. He steeled himself against the doubts creeping into his mind and resolved to make the most of his time with Analina before her departure for Mexico.
Later, Analina and Rocco reconvened in the garden, where the air carried the faint aroma of blooming jasmine. She was seated on a stone bench, sketching quietly in a notebook—her way of channeling her emotions into something tangible. Rocco approached with cautious steps, carrying two glasses of iced tea. “Thought you could use a refresher,” he said, handing her a glass.” Thank you,” she murmured, her smile soft but sincere. “You always know what I need.” They sat together in companionable silence, the only sounds being the rustle of leaves and the occasional chirp of birds. For Analina, this quiet moment felt like a gift—one that allowed her to simply exist without the looming fears that often preoccupied her thoughts. For Rocco, it was a rare chance to be close to her without the weight of unspoken feelings threatening to spill over.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting warm hues across the garden, Analina set aside her notebook and turned to Rocco. “Tell me,” She said, her tone curious, “what do you see our lives looking like in five years?” Rocco hesitated; his gaze fixed on the horizon. The question was loaded, but it was also an invitational chance to dream, despite the precariousness of their reality. “I see us somewhere peaceful,” he began slowly, “raising our children and building something lasting. I know it is not simple, but it is possible.”
Analina studied him carefully, as though searching for cracks in his confidence. What she found instead was sincerity—an unpolished hope that mirrored her own. “That sounds wonderful,” she replied softly, her voice tinged with longing. “I want that, too.” Their conversation stretched into the evening, touching on dreams, fears, and fleeting moments of levity. Though the obstacles ahead remained daunting, their shared connection grew stronger with every word exchanged, every glance shared. By the time they parted ways so that they could get ready for their date together, both could feel the quiet strength of a bond that had weathered storms and promised, in its own fragile way, to endure.
As the evening drew near, Analina stood before the mirror in her room, the soft glow of the setting sun spilling through the curtains and casting warm tones across her reflection. Her hands lingered on her delicate shade of lavender, chosen for its simplicity and grace. She knew Rocco appreciated her understated elegance, and tonight she wanted to honor that while feeling comfortable in her own skin. Her thoughts meandered as she brushed her hair, letting it cascade down her shoulders in loose waves.
The rhythmic motion of the brush was almost meditative, allowing her to momentarily silence the anxious whispers of doubt that sometimes crept into her mind. She paused, her gaze shifting to the small pendant around her neck gift from Rocco during happier times. It gleamed faintly, a symbol of his unwavering support and the bond they were slowly forging.
