The Luna’s Birthday

The weeks passed in a blur, Micah and Ash were busier than ever keeping the pack together.

Micah had gotten his Alpha ceremony at last and was thrown into the deep end managing everything in the pack. Loki and Xavier helped as much as they could, but so much of it could only be done by Micah himself because of the situation they had found themselves in and the bloody wizard locked in the dungeon.

He hated how little time he got to spend with his mate right now, the only thing keeping him going and dealing with the scent of everyone else on her every night was that it would eventually calm down, they would eventually solve the problem and get the college and the royals to agree that harry bloody potter downstairs was not who he had been pretending to be and then, then, Ash would be safe and he could relax.

They would have more time together, he was absolutely certain of it.

Before he knew it, the weekend of Ash’s 16th birthday was looming just a few days away. He was determined to treat his mate like the princess she was. He didnt know how he would have survived the last few weeks without her, she was holding him and his pack together wether she knew it or not and he was damn well going to show her just how much that meant to him.

Even if the fucking fairy would be a tag along to anything they did, he or the blasted hound were never more than arms length away from Ash at the moment, even when she slept. Not that he could really bring himself to resent the beast, it had after all saved his life and ensured that Ash was safe on that horrible night his brain wouldnt stay away from.

Ash had forgotten about her birthday all together, she wasn’t expecting anything this year at all, the big birthday, as far as wolves were concerned was 17, when wolves could sense their goddess given mates, ofcourse this was less of a concern for Ash who already had her mate. And in the mage community, the important birthday was 21, when Ash would reach maturity and her aging slow inline with Micah’s.

“Ash baby” Micah whispered softly against Ash’s neck. Pressing a gentle kiss onto the skin. Ash groaned softly and turned away from him as much as she could while trapped in the cage of his arms. “Happy birthday, my princess” Micah tried again.

just as Ash felt his mouth on her ear, they both heard the front door open with a crash. A tangle of werewolves arguing, clearly having forgotten about being quiet, over who was going to come into the apartment first and face the rath of the hellhound and who would take Micah’s wrath for disturbing them.

Ash couldnt help but let out a small giggle as Micah and Shadow growled together. Apparently it took an invasion of some kind to get them on the same page, good to know.

Loki burst through the bedroom door, his hand over his eyes

“put some pants on Micah! It’s the Luna’s birthday! We have celebrating to do!” He called with his usual enthusiasm for everything. “You only claimed her tonight, today is ours!” He added loudly before he bounded from the room.

Ash could hear the growls and snarls of a small pack of werewolves and a hellhound play fighting in the lounge, either blaze was with the group or they had found another way to win the hound over.

About half an hour after Loki’s near death in the bedroom, he, Mark, Xavier, Jay and Jessy had carried a barely ready Ash from the flat. Her hair was still un-brushed in the braids from the night before, she wore a pair of black sweatpants under one of Micah’s overlarge t-shirts.

“Where are you taking me? Put me down guys!” She called out with a laugh in her voice.

“Nu uh, afraid we can’t do that Luna, you see, its you’re birthday so today you will have to walk no where!” Someone replied seriously, Ash couldnt identify who it was because the crowd seemed to be growing with every step they took and she had so rarely heard any of the wolves nearest her being serious.

This had to be Loki’s idea though. He didnt choose to be called after the trickster god for nothing after all!

She was deposited in what could only be described as a throne at the head of the breakfast table groaning with a five year old’s idea of perfection. There was cake, sweets, chocolate, pancakes with chocolate chips, drumstick lollies, ice cream, and squashed into the corner, Mrs Black’s attempt at reigning the over-excited pack of wolves, a small platter of fruit.

Ash burst into laughter at the sight laid out before her. “Oh my god, guys, what have you done?” She managed to say through the laughter.

“What’s on your mind?” Blaze asked Ash as they sat in the shadow of a large tree, shadow at their side, he had just given Ash her birthday presents, a set of rare books about old and lost magic techniques along with some new drawing materials, the others having monopolised her attention all morning and Micah having been called away to deal with an emergency.

“I dont know, its just there is so much going on and Micah has been so busy but he says he’s got this huge surprise for me, I just dont want him to be going to too much trouble with everything else he has to deal with” Ash sighed softly, hugging the books to her chest and petting the hellhound at her side softly. “Anyway, I’m supposed to be working on my spell to mark you arent I?” She finished

“Only if you want too, your bond with shadow works much the same way. Because he is tied to me also” Blaze explained as he leant back into the bark of the tree. “You dont need to tie me to you too, unless its something you want to do”

“I dont know, I mean, my Grandmother seems to be pretty set on it, she keeps asking me.”

Blaze shrugs slightly “you aren’t your grandmother, our bond dosen’t have to be like her’s with her protectors. You are your own person Ash” he said with a small smile, squeezing Ash’s shoulder before he stood up and walked away into the trees. Shadow looking between them slightly confused.
