Chapter 35
Chapter 35
King Bryans POV
After watching Rebecca getting knocked down, I was beside myself. She was out cold. I knew William would take care of her. I went back to fighting. The werewolf that had knocked her down was dead on the floor after I had punched him over and over again. The other werewolves were getting weaker because of the silver weapons. Several were being hauled to jail. I will deal with them tomorrow, between meeting the elders and ensuring that Rebecca is OK. I walked into our room just as her eyes were closing.
" She is resting."
" Thats good."
" Your majesty, you need to go finish dealing with the werewolves."
" William, they have been dealt with."
" That is good."
I anticipate more attacks like this. Not only from werewolves but from every creature that wants to use Rebecca's powers. She doesn't even really know that she has powers yet. She was a mystery. I knew she was a vampire hunter and a human. She was also raised by witches. There is no telling what kind of power she has. There is no telling what she could do either. A couple of the elders are also vampire hunters. But they are full-blooded vampires. They will help her understand what is expected of her. What she must do. I did not like that nobody taught her about vampires and werewolves. But what do you expect from mere humans? They won't teach anyone about vampires or werewolves. They teach them how to be afraid. They don't teach them anything else.
Vampire hunters have been known to hunt werewolves if the king asks us to. I need to get in touch with King Ray. Could you inform him of what has happened? I knew he would not be happy. I also need to introduce Rebecca to him. I have no idea how he would react to her. I knew Rebecca wouldn't respond favorably. There was so much to do, and it felt like there was so little time. Rebecca is almost in full change. She will become more of a vampire every day. She will still be human, but her vampire instincts will become more and more noticeable. Especially when she gets pregnant. That is going to be interesting as well. My children that I have with her will be hybrids. So life should be interesting. Rebecca was starting to stir. I was grateful for that. I knew she had not been hurt as badly as I first thought. She woke up. I had William check her out. When she sat up there was blood on her pillow. I looked to William for answers.
" The wound is healing."
" We need to give her some blood."
I knew she hated the taste of the blood right now. Eventually, she will start to enjoy it. She drank some of the glass of blood that William gave her. She made faces as she drank it. However, the wound on her head started to heal faster. Unfortunately, as a vampire, our wounds heal faster when we drink blood. She started crying. I knew that all this was overwhelming for her. I held her hand. She started crying.
" It's OK, beautiful."
" No, it's not."
I knew she would say that after everything today. I honestly intend on making everything alright. But how would I do that for her? She was abused before she came to me. Now she is getting stronger and doing better. How do I get her to see that everything will be OK?
" Everything will work out for the best, you will see."
She looked at me with hope in her eyes. I could feel she was hurting and in pain. She wasn't acting like she was in pain, which I was grateful for. I can not bear seeing her in pain like that. William had prepared a cup of wine with just enough of the opium to help with her pain. I was grateful that William had been my healer since I was a young vampire.
" Here, babe, drink some wine with a little medicine in it."
I already had the cook preparing some regular food for us. All my warriors are eating with their families. It was just going to be Rebecca and me. I knew she was hungry before she even said it. I knew she wasn't hungry for blood; she was hungry for food.
" I have the cook preparing us some food."
" Dinner won't be ready for a while."
" Alright."
I already had Nina, the maid I had assigned to help take care of Rebecca, start bringing in hot water for a bath for Rebecca, as she needed. I needed one, but I did not want to bathe alone. I certainly did not want Rebecca taking a bath by herself. It would pass the time while we waited for our dinner. Vampires can eat regular food just like a human. I helped Rebecca into the bathtub. I got in behind her and let her rest against me. She went on about our ceremony. She was worried about it being postponed again. There was no chance of that. Our ceremony will go ahead as intended. She asked about the elders. They are arriving in the morning. After a while, the water started to get cold, and I could tell that Rebecca was getting cold because she was moving in the water. She was trying to move the water around to find any warm water.
I helped her out of the bathtub. I wrapped a towel around her and helped her dry off. I gave her a gown that she sleeps in. It was the one where she came in. I'll have to get a couple more made for her. The food arrived, and we sat down at the table in our room and began eating. We finished eatin g then went to bed. I knew that we were both grateful to get some rest. We lay down and went to sleep. It felt as if we had not been asleep long before it was time to get up. We had a busy day. However, I will let her sleep a little longer. I had a couple of dresses made for her. They had arrived yesterday. I also had the cobbler make her a brand-new pair of boots. I knew that she would enjoy that. I got out of bed and sat them up on the table.
I made sure there was enough room for the food that Nina was going to bring. I then left our room and went to the kitchen. The cook was making breakfast.
" Hey, Raymond."
" Hey, boss."
" How are you today?"
"I'm tired but OK."
" Thats good."
He poured me a cup of coffee. We discovered, and now I can't get enough. If you put sugar and a little milk in it the taste isn't bad. I sat and drank my coffee. He then gave me a plate of food. I ate it. I had left a note for Rebecca to eat and get dressed in the new dress that I had made for her. Raymond prepared her food, and I had Nina take it to her.
