Chapter 43
"That's impossible." Yugi frowned, the light that made him appear divine slowly fading, making him appear more humanly. "It has never occurred in our world where one person would decide they won't be Lord, you have been initiated, it has to remain that way!" He was raising his voice, gesturing as he spoke.
Ash stood up his feet with a frown still plastered on his face, I'm sorry, but you want to get rid of the woman I love because of that stupid status, so maybe I really don't want to be the Lord anymore." He stood firm on his words.
Yugi was taken by shock, clearly not trying to hide it at all. "Ash, not only have you exercised disobedience, but you have also added insolence to that list,” he noted, pausing for a while before he continued to speak. "But, very well, the choice is fully yours." Yugi assured him.
"Minrad, congratulations, since you have trained in the past and did not hesitate to put the world first, you have earned the crown. I'll discuss this with the elders and appear before you, then, we can make it an official announcement." Yugi said, slowly fading with every new word that he spoke.
"What?" Minrad stood still, watching blankly, unable to believe his ears. Things had just been made easier for him and he was not even ready.
Ash knew something was fishy. He had not been thinking when but uttered the words hut it was very suspicious to know that Yugi had just agreed without putting so much as an argument after everything. There was so much that could be done, in fact, it could be said that it was considered a taboo for a lord to leave his status behind.
He waved free from his thoughts and looked at Myan where she was sitting still on the floor. Her expression scared him, and he certainly didn't want anything wrong with her. "Myan!" He went on one knee her, placing his hands on her shoulders and helped her to her feet.
"Are you okay?" He asked, feeling relieved to know he had gotten there just in time. His new Aeu had granted him an even greater sense of smell and speed. He didn't want for her to say anything and pulled her into a hug instead.
"I’m so sorry for putting you through this." Ash sighed, for the first time, hating himself on someone else's behalf.
Myan wanted to remind him that this was her choice, choosing to come into his life when she was not supposed to, but she held back, not wanting to stir up unwanted memories.
"We have to leave." Ash lifted his head to where Minrad had remained without actions. Yugi's words had deeply gotten into him and he seemed to be unable to retain his consciousness. "If we stay, I will end up killing someone." Ash assured in a low voice through gritted teeth and lifted her in his arms.
She didn't argue because she was genuinely drained. She leaned her head against his chest and wrapped her hands around his neck.
"Where are we going. I don't want to go as far as the mountains." Myan said after they had left where was supposed to be a home for sacrificing her. She knew how much of a long journey it had been when they were heading there.
"We won't." Ash assured her. She knew he was tired, and she had so many questions, yet she was refraining from draining him out.
"Hey, it's okay,” he said, holding her hands and turning to leave.
As soon as they took the first step, Myan literally vanished into thin hair, leaving a shadow in powdery form on the spot she had stood.
