Chapter 195
Dang ke caught me!
I gulped the morsel of garlic bread before touring around to look at my husband. As expected, he looked mad after hearing my plan to go to my father's place. His eyes narrowed in my way when I still didn't open my mouth to say anything. I just kept staring at him. He raised his brow, expecting an answer from me. He was expecting an answer from me when he left me all bothered and hot. I glanced at him and turned around. Showing him my back. I felt his burning eyes on my back.
“I'm going to Dad's. I want to spend some time with him,” I said in my normal voice while taking the last bit of the garlic bread.
“We are planning to go out tomorrow,” I told Aunty while stealing one more piece of the garlic bread.
“If you are going out, then you can go from here. He can pick you up from here. Why do you need to go there for the night?" Azel asked in the same tone while walking to us. I still didn't turn to look at him. His amber eyes kept making holes in my back. I exhaled deeply before answering him.
“Because I want to spend time with him,” I said it like it's the obvious thing to know.
"Right, he must have missed you too. I know how much he misses you when you are at the hostel. His every conversation has you on it,” AuntyAunty said, making me look at her. I know how much Dad misses me. He loves me a lot. I still remember how he would visit me at the hostel. He used to give me surprise visits, and we would then spend the rest of the day together. Those were the best days of my life. I remember the cotton candy he used to buy for me. Not only for me but for all the girls in my school. They all waited for my dad like me. They loved him too.
“I will talk with Uncle,” I heard Azel saying, and I know what he wants to talk about. He will convince him to pick me up tomorrow and then take me home tonight.
“No need. I have already talked with him. We will leave after the dinner,” I said in a firm tone, and he didn't say anything. I heard him stomping out of the room. A small evil smile forms on the corner of my lips.
“Let's suffer together,” I whispered under my breath with an evil smile still on my lips. Once Aunty Aunty was done instructing the help to bring food, I walked to the dining room with her. My eyes sparked when I saw my dad. Well, he was not alone. Azel was standing with him. I hope he is not brainwashing my dad.
"Dad,” I called him with a huge smile on my face. Dad turned to look at me as soon as he heard my name.
“My baby,” he said with a smile that matched mine. He spread his arms wide, and I ran to him immediately. He engulfed me in his huge frame. I hugged him tightly while burying my face in his warm chest. He was my home and always has been.
“I missed you so much,” I said while still hugging him tightly like a little girl.
“I missed you too,” he said while pressing a kiss on my head while swinging my body side to side slightly. I could still feel Azel's burning gaze on my back. He was jealous of my father, and I can bet on it.
“Let's go and eat. Aunty had made a delicious mouthwatering cheese garlic bread,” I said once we broke the hug. He smiled and looked at me.
“Yes, let's go. I'm hungry anyway,” Dad said while holding me by the side of my shoulder. I nodded my head.
"Azel, you are not joining us,” Dad asked when he saw him standing like a pole with a stiff face.
“I'm coming,” he said while throwing daggers at me, but I kept ignoring him. I walked to the dinner table with a huge smile on my face. I was happy to see my father. Anyone could tell it by looking at my face.
“Good you are here,” AuntyAunty said when she saw Dad. Dad. He went and hugged her. Then, Dad talked with Uncle Uncle before taking his seat. I decided to sit beside my father. Azel looked at me with narrowed eyes when I didn't sit beside him.
“You don't come home often nowadays,” Grandma said while looking at my father with narrowed eyes.
“Work keeps me busy,” Dad said with an apologetic smile on his face.
“Why do you keep working so much? You should take a rest now. Azel is at the office to look after things. Soon, Kevin will also join him. Luna will also be there once she finishes college. I think it's time for you to take a rest and enjoy your life,” Grandma Grandma suggested with a concerned look on her face.
“I told him to retire, but he doesn't want to," his uncle said, joining hands with Grandma. Dad always has been working. After my mother's funeral, Dad went back to work. It was his escape, and soon, it turned into the only thing he could do to stop himself from feeling lonely without Mom. Dad tried to hide it, but I knew. I have seen in his eyes that he is lonely but doesn't want to accept it. I have caught him looking at his mother's pictures with longing eyes.
“If I retire, what am I supposed to do? Work is the only thing that keeps me busy,” Dad said with a small smile on his face. He then passed me a bowl of chicken rice, knowing very well that it was made for me.
“You can do plenty of things. We can go golfing, or else we can even go on vacation to the country we always wanted to visit, my uncle suggested, but my dad moved his head in amusement.
“Or you can start dating and get married soon,” I suggested, and everyone went silent on the table. I looked at everyone, and my father seemed like he was frozen for a second. The only woman my dad had loved was my mother, and it was a sensitive topic. In the initial years when I was little, Grandma had tried to fix dates with his friend's daughter, but Dad never showed interest in it. He told Grandma that he wanted to focus on raising me. She stopped forcing him because she knew Dad still loved my mother even after her death. I thought I wouldn't get support on this topic when my husband stepped in.
“Luna is the right uncle. Not today, but tomorrow, you will retire, and you are still too young not to fall in love. You should think about it for Luna's sake, sake,” Azel said, and it made me look at him.
“Azel is right. At least you can give it a try. If it doesn't work out, no one is forcing you." AuntyAunty Sad Sad next, making me smile at her. Even grandma and uncle agreed with me. I put my hand on his shoulder, and I saw how his body shuddered slightly under the weight.
"Dad, at least give it a thought,” I said in a small voice while looking at him. His eyes were still fixed on his empty plate. I saw how he swallowed hard. His eyes moved to the wedding band he still wears. He averted his eyes and took a deep breath before nodding his head slowly.
“I will give it a try,” he said with one more deep exhale. I blink away my tears, and a big smile forms on my face.
“Thank you, dad. I know it's not easy for you,” I said while hugging him from the side. He put his arm around me and patted my back. He pressed a kiss on my head.
“That's a great decision. It's a call for celebration," the uncle said with a happy smile on his face. He immediately called a helper and asked him to get his fine wine from his wine collection. Yes, he has a wine collection more like a big wine cellar. After a few minutes, the tension in the air vanished, and Dad was back to normal, talking and laughing with everyone. It's been so long since I had dinner like that. I missed Kevin and Ella though. I enjoyed my dinner with my family so much.
“Ready to leave,” my dad asked once we were done with dinner. “Supper ready,” I said while looking at him, ignoring Azel's burning gaze. He didn't even look happy to see me going with Dad.
“Let me go and get my bag,” I said while running to the stairs.
“Be careful,” I heard my dad shouting when he saw me sprinting on the steps. I got my bag and was on my way out when I found Azel standing outside of our room. I once again decided to walk away when he held my hand and pressed me to the wall. Before his lips could slam on mine, I covered his mouth with my palm. He raised his brow when I did that. His eyes narrowed when I said the exact words he said to me.
“Let's suffer together.”
