Faint Smell
Over the years Alexander has met several women that wanted to have a relationship with him. He quickly realized that they were all scheming pursuers. They would offer to spend a night with him, fake personalities and hid the fact that they were cruel on the inside. A couple of women he thought he might consider a relationship but eventually their true self would come out and he would walk away. They always wanted the wealth and prestige that he could give them. Never love, if he hadn’t been wealthy, they wouldn’t even speak to him. He became very speculative when it came to women. So, he couldn’t help but speculate whether Greta was being deliberate and sincere.
He could tell she was interested in him, that was obvious. Speaking of the devil, she was walking up towards the upper deck.
I’m going to find some answers “Greta!” Alexander raised his voice so she could hear him over the noise of the crew.
Turning around, she smiled when she saw it was Alexander speaking to her. Not realizing she had just stepped into a puddle of soapy water. A deckhand was scrubbing the deck and she didn’t realize where she was walking when she heard Alexander. As she turned, she almost slipped, bending backwards with her arms flailing straight out, like she was making circles with her arms, catching herself before falling.
“Hello, how are you today?” laughing at herself, looking at the water she was standing in, she stepped to the side where it was dry. She couldn’t help but look at his muscular build, wearing a tight t-shirt and jeans with boots. The shirt showed just how muscular he really is. He didn’t have his armor on, she wasn’t sure why he wears it sometimes and doesn’t the other.
“Good, are you going to the top deck?” He was beside her looking down smiling back at her.
“Yes, would you like to come with me?” grabbing her skirt to lift it so she could turn and keep walking.
“Actually, yes I would.” They walked together in silence but once they reached the top deck, they walked over to the railing to look at the sea. ‘
“Greta, I’m pretty sure John was not your uncle like you told everyone. I want to know why you sought him out and took a job on the ship when you had a good life at a Saint.” Leaning against the railing with his right arm resting on it. He was turned so he could face her for the answer.
She was getting nervous, chewing on her bottom lip, looking down at the floor. How am I going to answer him? I can’t tell him the truth, maybe a tiny fraction of the truth will work. Holding onto the railing tightly till her knuckles were white she answered, “Facing the boundless sea and heading towards the unknown gives me an unprecedented sense of freedom that I have never had.” Feeling satisfied with what she just said, hoping he bought it.
“Did you not have freedom as a Saint? And why did you seek out John?” Standing straight without leaning. “Look at me Greta.” She looked up… but instead of answering him she asked him “Are you Simon?”
Staring, unmoving and unblinking when she asked him that question, he knew if he wanted the truth, he was going to have to give her some of the truth. “Yes, I am Alexander. Now, it’s your turn to answer.”
“I knew it, you are Alexander, I just knew it and I did answer, I wanted freedom, being a saint, I was restricted so I decided to head towards the unknown.” Shrugging her shoulder’s, she looked him straight in the eye which was hard since she wanted to look away knowing she was lying to him. He just gave her a very simple answer but it’s what she wanted to know but she still could not tell him why she really came.
“Do you even still pray Greta?” Alexander said sarcastically with a look of disgust.
“Yes, I still pray. That is something I take seriously and always will.” Pissed off she pointed a finger at him and poked his chest with it. During Alexanders silence, he
suddenly smelled a scent on Tiana, which changed his expression dramatically
He stood there staring at her in silence, frustrated with her. Not the answer he was looking for, she still won’t even talk about her so-called Uncle John. Why is she being so vague, just fucking tell me.
During Alexanders silence, he suddenly smelled a scent on Tiana, which changed his expression dramatically. He could feel his leopard Simon noticed it too. Alexander could feel Simon circling around wanting to know more about the scent.
Tilting his head, he leaned closer to Greta and sniffed around her. Greta looked at him like he had just lost it. Is he smelling me? Do I stink or something? She was trying to figure out why he was sniffing around her face and shoulders. Weird she thought.
Straightening up, “Do you were perfume?” his eyes bore into hers waiting for an answer.
She just looked at him like he was a weirdo. “No….I don’t wear perfume, can’t afford it even if I wanted to.”
“Are you being honest with me Greta?” Not trusting her, he can’t even get an honest answer out of her. He doesn’t even know if he should believe her about wearing perfume.
“I don’t have perfume on Alexander. Geez I just told you.” Getting frustrated and creeped out by him.
He looked at her in silence for a minute or two, turned without another word and just walked away.
His Leopard was angry at him for leaving her. He wanted to know more about the scent. Simon don’t worry about the damn scent; I’m not sticking around to find out about it. Yes Simon, it did smell very enticing now shut up about it or I will block you out today. The smell made Alexander very nervous, it was faint, but he knew there was something with that wonderful sweet scent that surrounded Greta.
