Chapter 102 Pain.

Chapter 102 Pain.
Zyle.

The pain didn't dissipate quickly.

I clawed at a tree, taking out the frustration on it.

It seemed like my body was punishing me for not killing that deer.

It seemed like blades were sunk into every bone in my body. Even moving was painful. Staying still, worse.

It made me want to mindlessly search for a cure.

But even in that state, I knew the only cure.

Roe.

Her touch did something to calm the raging beast inside me.

But what if it failed one day and I hurt her?

I would never be able to forgive myself after that.

I sank my teeth into the tree, tasting the weird taste of wood and my blood.

Every part of me was covered in bruises and blood, and I wondered if they were not going to heal like they usually did.

It continued until the sky brightened.

First, it was the control.

I was no longer a puppet to the monster in me. I could finally move at will.

I whispered, looking at the sky.

Then the pain began to subside.

Not instantly, but a little at a time.

Yet my wounds didn't heal.

They still stung.

I slowly transformed back to my human form.

Looking at the gashes in my palms and arms, I steadied my breathing and slowly got to my feet.

The wounds weren't healing.

That had never happened before.

I staggered to my feet and realized I had ruined my clothes earlier.

I picked whatever was left of my pants and threw them on. It did little to cover my body, but at least my dick and ass were covered.

Only bits and pieces were left of my shirt, so I didn't bother with it.

By the time I got back to the fortress, the sun was already peeking through the sky.

I walked through the door, pretending not to notice the gasps of surprise that fell from many lips in the house.

I didn't care.

I stopped at the front of the guest room, letting my forehead rest on the door.

I didn't want her to see me like this.

But I wanted to see her.

Was she still unconscious?

Did she leave immediately she regained consciousness?

I opened my eyes and the door as well.

The doctors must have been working nonstop.

Exhausted.

I moved further in.

The paleness of her skin had reduced to the buttery colour she had. The life in her lips was coming back to their original red pigment.

I sighed in relief.

“Alpha.”

I stayed looking at her from a distance.

“She had a lot of memories flooded into her head all at once, and her head could not take it all at once. That was why she fell unconscious.”

“Is she alright now?” I asked.

“Yes. She just needs to rest a little.”

“I see.”

“But Alpha… you need to look into your… health too.”

“I'm fine.”

Silence.

They all looked like they had a lot more things to say but couldn't.

I had already gotten the information I wanted.

“You are dismissed.”

“Alpha, our supplies…”

“Later.” I ordered.

They bowed slightly and went out one after the other.

“Alpha.”

He started handing me a jar of liquid.

“She'll need to take a tablespoon when she wakes up.”

“It is very important, so her system can fully stabilize. If not, she might have another attack.”

Then he bowed and left like the others.

I looked at the bottle, squeezing it gently.

I knew they wanted to ask about my affair with the pure beta. Especially since the clan had a Luna already.

They were lucky they didn't have the balls to ask.

I took the jar and drew closer to her bed.

My hand found her soft hair, pushing the stray ones off her face.

The moment my hand came in contact with her face, the gash that refused to heal began to close up.

I moved away.

She may be healing me.

But what if I was draining her of her essence?

What if my healing came at a cost?

“Zyle…”

Her weak voice called out.

“I'm here,” I replied.

She lifted her hands before opening her eyes slowly, her hands resting on my cheek.

“Where did you go?”

Her voice was still weak, as though she was struggling to make words.

“To settle something, but I'm back.”

Her eyes traveled down to the gashes that were still open, widening slightly.

Then she saw how the others were closing up at an abnormal rate.

I expected shock to cover her face, but instead, she looked… relieved.

“Silly man. Why do you beat yourself up so much?”

I leaned into her touch.

Letting her heal me.

Not my wounds.

My bleeding soul.

“You… you make me do… things.”

She smiled.

“Was it true?” she asked.

The easiness in her voice smoothing out.

“You were supposed to kill me?”

I swallowed a thick lump in my throat.

The words of the doctor finally making sense.

‘She had a lot of memories flooded into her head all at once... her head could not take it all at once...

Had she remembered everything?

I nodded.

She chuckled.

“Why haven't you done it?”

I shook my head.

I was supposed to stay away from her, but I always found myself in her vicinity like a starving puppy.

“Fuck, I feel like crap,” she said.

I remembered the drug the doctor gave me and immediately straightened to give it to her.

Some of my wounds had already healed completely.

So I poured out the clear medicine into a teaspoon and brought it closer to her lips.

She inched away from the spoon.

“Get it away, it smells like death,” she whined.

“The doctor said…”

“Doctors say a lot of things.”

“It will help you…”

“I'm really not a fan of drugs.”

The doctor's words came to me again.

…Help her stabilize… another attack.

Without much thought, I poured the contents into my mouth and pulled her onto my lap.

“What are you…”

I pinched her nose and pressed my lips against hers.
