Chapter 24: pretty Eyes
Carina's POV
I could tell that Conall did not want to stop; obviously, he hated when anyone tried to command him, but we both stopped when we heard a clicking sound. "Don't move, or I will blow your heads out" When we halted entirely, he said, "Now turn around".
We both did as instructed while the human pointed something towards our faces, and I noticed there was something dangling from his pocket, and I planned to get it by whatever means.
The human stared at me for a few seconds, and I wondered if I was in trouble. "Your eyes are pretty and so colorful." That was a nice thing to come from someone who had a gun pointed to my face, and I might have appreciated it a bit on my own, but I could not because Conall was clearly not buying that. He made a funny sound when the human spoke about my eyes.
"What do you want?", he asked.
"Is she your girlfriend? the human asked instead. Was this what all this was about? Girl hunting?
"Yes, she is", Conall replied icily without a pause, and I nearly choked on my empty mouth.
"Oh really? Where did you get her from?", the human asked, walking closer to Conall, who was visibly getting tired of answering questions, and I prayed he would react in a not-so-bad way but an effective way so that we would leave. The sun was already coming up. "Or let me rephrase my question: Where are you guys heading?"
"It's none of your business", Conall replied. At this point, I wondered how Conall was still able to answer all of this human's questions. Was he getting better at conversations? But then his icy tone did not change at all; it even got worse.
"It is very much my business. These werewolves want to wipe the entire city by pursuing us humans away, or worse, by killing us. We humans can't even tell werewolves apart from humans. It's bad because we keep dying every day! Fuck. You know what? Enough talking, tell me where you both are heading right now, or else I will shoot", the human said, still pointing the gun at us, well, me in particular, since he believed that I would be easier to kill.
So this was what all this was about; he was just another sound human trying to protect himself from the bad werewolves.
"Whatever you do, Conall, try not to kill him; he's just scared", I whispered to Conall without turning to look at him.
"What are your pretty eyes whispering? Huh? Do you want to die? Answer—"
"Shut up and listen", Conall said, grabbing the human by his neck. I am sure the human did not expect that level of speed and strength; after all, he was the one with the gun and the one who got a better chance.
"Don't point guns at just anyone you see if you're not strong enough; it's better to play defensive as a weak person rather than trying to play offensive. That aside, never call her pretty eyes again".
Never call me pretty. I felt a surge of heat rush through my body. Did I just sense jealousy? I had been sensing jealousy from time to time, and it was more difficult to deny it as the days passed.
The human still tried to play smart and shoot me, but got hit on the face before he could go ahead with the shooting. Again, Conall was faster than he was. The punch destabilized him, making him crash on the floor while Conall picked up his gun. "Run. Now".
Nobody needed to tell the human he needed to run very fast if he still wanted his life intact. He ran and never looked back. Luckily, there were no humans serving as nuisances to us anymore.
Conall's POV
I could not get that kiss off my mind. That was the best thing that had happened to me. You may be wondering how I was able to go about the kissing thing when I find even hugs difficult to do.
One day I went to see King Darius, and I saw a couple kissing outside. Normally, I hated that because it was a public display of affection, and I generally did not like the whole concept of it, but on that day, I stopped to watch the couples, and all I could think about was Carina. I would have loved to ask both of them how they went about the kissing and how it worked, but my ego would not let me ask them how they went about it. So instead, I stayed far away to watch them and learn from them. Luckily for me, I was not caught watching them; if not, it would have been extremely difficult to explain why I was watching a couple kiss.
The kiss should have been what I did the other night. Instead of buying her, I could not kiss her because I did not know how to, and I was battling to not run wild, so I had to settle for nothing. When I learned how to kiss from the couples, I finally tried it out, even though I was scared that it would not turn out the way I wanted, but then it was heavemly. I never knew that kisses were like this, so pleasant, because I had never tried it, but I was sure Carina knew how it felt; after all, she was once in love, and that word 'love', it was a cringe word. I was not sure I was capable of ever loving. Call me selfish or wicked, but I did not feel sorry for Carina in the aspect of her losing whoever she loved; the werewolf was not her true self and was probably infatuated to her. But somehow I felt sorry for her mother, though I never wanted to mention anything about it.
My day went relatively well when I was alone, thinking about the weak omega, but any aspect that involved me seeing or meeting other werewolves, especially Emily, Baldar, or King Darius, I did not like. Emily was behaving weird with me every day; she wanted to hang out with me more or talk to me all the time, even though I clearly was not interested in talking to her. I really hated when she rubbed my feet, but I had to let her because of the little omega. Baldar was always trying to command me every single time he saw me, and King Darius was always trying to play daddy roles with me, and he sucked at it. Those were the three people that I had to think twice about before trying to lay my hands on them; hence, they were not afraid of me; they were annoying.
There was a knock on my door, and before I could tell the person not to come in, Emily came in.
"Emily I have told you to wait for a response after knocking", I said bluntly.
"I'm sorry, I forgot. You, on the other hand, seem grumpy. What happened?", she asked.
'I am thinking of a way that I could get the little omega out of the other territory tomorrow night, and till now I have no idea how I am going to do that', I said in my head. That Omega was making me do irrational things just because I had said I wanted to go on an adventure with her and I had given in to the challenge of a better adventure. Now I was stuck with my thought.
Of course, I ignored Emily, her questions, and her existence and went ahead to drink the tea that was on my table. She knew that I did not usually 'talk' in the morning, especially not to her; she had to get used to it or stay dumb for the rest of my life, and none of the options would affect me, so it was none of my business.
"Look. Keep your grumpy mode aside. Conall, King Darius has summoned you for something he termed very important, and I already have my topic figured out for today's discussion, which is going to be a very delicate topic, so I urge you to try to be less grumpy when I come to talk", Emily said.
King Darius always termed all meetings with me 'important' because he knew if he termed it a regular meeting for chitchats, I would not come. But what kind of got my attention is a 'delicate' topic coming from Emily. What did she want to talk about this time?
"Okay", I said flatly.
"Do you want to take your medications now or later?", she asked.
"Later", I replied.
Another part of my day I hated was having to take medications.
