Chapter 19:the point
Conall's POV
I stood here in the bushes for about ten minutes, and there was still no sign of the Omega. What was I thinking again? That an omega would just want to come a second time to see me? Why did I think of such an absurd idea in the first place? Why did I have to use days to plan for this night?
I was on my last string of patience, already giving up slowly when I saw the Omega rushing into the bushes. "You're late", I pointed out flatly.
"I didn't know that there would be a full moon today; I heard it was tomorrow, " she said. Well, I did not know as well, so that could be considered fair even if I did not play fair on a normal day.
"Are you ready to see your mother?", I asked, trying not to sound excited, but my voice was not doing a good job.
She stepped closer to me, and I felt a sharp surge of heat go through my body. I suddenly felt like doing something I should not even think of doing.
"Yes, I am", she answered, but she did not seem sure.
"You don't seem confident", I said. A part of me was not happy about that because fear is a part of weakness, and I hated weakness. But a part of me was aroused by how innocent she looked.
"I—"
"Follow me", I said, grabbing her hand and pulling her away. I could not stand being so close to her to have a normal discussion. I did not want to have normal discussions with her. I felt her body go hot, and it was harder to hold back from doing the things that I wanted to do, but I did not want her to get the wrong ideas, plus I was not supposed to be with an Omega, no matter how enticing it looked. At one point, the full moon shone on us, and I could not control myself any longer. I switched to my true form, and the Omega did as well. If only she knew how hard I was trying to keep myself from running wild or doing ridiculous but lustful things to her right now. I didn't even know which feeling was stronger—the feeling of just getting wild and killing the weak ones or the feeling of doing nasty things to the little Omega.
"What is wrong?", she asked, but I just shot her a look. She was trying to be as quiet as possible if she was serious about seeing her mother.
We got to 'the point'. The point was the only way into the jail, and no warrant could pass that point in his or her true form. The construction was done centuries ago by goddesses to help werewolves trap other werewolves who were considered evil.
"Stay here and don't say a word", I said to the Omega, and I went into the jail to clear up all the guards. It was risky, but I had planned it for days. All I did was spread some false information here and there, and the coast was clear; after all, even guards were not as focused as they normally were on the full moon.
I came back to the Omega. "Follow me", I said to her. I took her up to where her mother was. It was kind of easy bringing her here considering the fact that her mother stayed in a special because it seemed like Baldar still had feelings for the woman, which I found insane, but I was not going to voice those out.
I switched on the light that I held, and immediately the werewolf rushed, like she wanted to attack us, but the iron barricades would not let it out. It kept hitting the iron barricade, howling and making so much noise. She did not even recognize her own daughter; she was mad anyway. I saw the look on Omega's face; she looked really confused and partly scared. It was slightly understandable since she was dealing with her mother, but I thought her mother had betrayed her, so why was she worried for her?
"Dolores", she called out quietly, but that did not work. Instead, the crazy werwolf got crazier. The little Omega looked at me as though asking for help, but I was not going to help; this was her battle to fight.
"Mum", she called out. The werewolf immediately stopped being ctaxy and looked at the little Omega from behind the iron barricades. I felt myself go warm. She, the omega, had the idea of melting the ice in me, and she had no idea.
The little Omega froze for whatever, maybe fear, but I was not going to help her out still. She had to learn how to be strong for herself so that if I were not around, I would be sure that she would be able to take care of herself properly. I only needed her soft when she was with me, when I was doing things to her—what the hell was I thinking?
The insane old woman changed to her human form and clung to the iron bars. "Carina, my dearest daughter, oh Carina, all I ever did was for you."
I could spot a lie when I heard one, and I knew that was a lie. But something struck me: if she had said the truth from the very beginning, this beautiful and sexy Omega, who was not letting me think straight, may not have been alive today. Oh wait, I would have made her my play toy because, if I were being completely honest with myself, she had been on my mind from the first day I saw her from afar, and it took almost all my willpower to stop myself from approaching her.
"But you are weak", the insane werewolf said, and he was about to stretch his hand to pull Carina with the purpose of hurting her obviously, but I rushed in. She hit her hand with my game as hard as possible, and she cried out in pain, switching back to her werewolf form, not her true form anyway considering that she was a shapeshifter.
"Let's go. Your time here is over", I said, pulling her away. No one had the right to try to hurt her, not on my watch, and I was the only one permitted to call her weak. I pulled her to the safest bush nearby.
"I need you to get out of here. Go back to your safe place with the free packs", I commanded. That cult. But I guessed she would be happier there, plus my self-control was wearing off quickly too.
"I don't want to go", she shot back at me.
I was confused. "What do you mean you don't want to go? I helped you by showing you to your mother, and now I want you gone." I knew that I was being harsh and that I was not truthful. I did not want her gone, but I was working on my last strand of self-control.
Before I could say another word, she moved closer to me and hugged me. My whole body went completely stiff. My body was not used to hugging because I did not give or receive hugs.
"What are you doing, Carina?", I asked, breathing hard, but she ignored me and still clung to me.
"Carina, please stop what you're doing and go home", I said. If I wanted her to stop, I would have made her, but deep down, I did not want her to stop.
"No", she said stubbornly. I suddenly liked stubbornness.
"Carina, I'm going to hurt you if you don't stop", I warned, but she was not listening to me.
"I don't care", she said, still hugging me.
I had no choice; I had tried my very best, and I could not hold it any longer. I bit her and bit her hard as she winced. This is my only way to balance the violent and lustful feelings I tried to control. I held her close, not wanting her to run away like I expected, but she did not run away, even though she was clearly in pain; instead, she hugged me even tighter.
I said the two words I never said while hugging her: "I'm sorry."
She still clung to me, soaking my shift in her tears. I wanted to stop crying, but she kept climbing up to me like she was forever, but nothing lasts forever. After a while, she pulled away. "I'm sorry about all that; it's just because..."
"Your mother", I said.
"Uhm, yeah", she said, sounding like she still wanted to cry. I feel bad for hurting her.
"Do you—do you want to talk about your mother for a bit? I feel like it will help you feel better if you do", I said. I badly wanted to help.
"I don't have anything to say about her", she said, sounding a bit annoyed. It was understandable since her mom was crazy and tried to hurt her.
"But I do", I said, still bent on trying to help. "If you don't mind, I will tell you all I know about shape shifters, why your mom is the way she is, and why Baldar is holding her hostage instead of killing her and some others."
I felt like doing somersaults when she agreed to listen to me.
