Chapter 60 SOMETHING'S NOT RIGHT!
ZARA'S POV
It was getting dark, and I had heard nothing from Kai. I stood by the door trying to eavesdrop if I could hear anything from outside, but there was no noise. I kicked the door open a bit and looked out, but there was no one outside.
I would have to find Kai later on to know what happened when he left the room. I could still remember how his lips felt on mine.
"Zara...." Mira called me through the mind link.
"Mira... Where are you?" I asked.
"I'm in our room. We've been looking for you and Kai." She said.
"Looking for us... Why?" I questioned.
"We've been in the academy."
"No.... We've searched everywhere for you all. You people were nowhere to be found." She said.
I was confused now. What did she mean by we were nowhere to be found. Wasn't this the East wing of the academy?
I took in my surroundings again. It suddenly didn't seem recognizable.
So... Where was this place?
"Are you there, Zara?" Mira asked, dragging me away from my thoughts.
"Yes... Yes... Uhm..." I paused in my response.
"When last did you see me?"
"When we woke up from sleep.." She responded.
".... You've not seen me since we woke up from sleep?" I questioned.
"Yeahh... " She responded.
Then where exactly was I?
I stepped out into the hallway... The buildings seemed to form a maze.
"Kai... " I called out.
The words bounced back to me. It was like I wasn't speaking to anybody.
Something must be wrong.
"Kai..." I called out.
"He's not here..." I heard a voice respond.
It didn't seem like a voice I could easily recognize.
"What do you mean?" I questioned.
"He's not here like you knew him." It responded.
I got scared. Who was responding to my questions.
"Who are you?" I questioned.
The question bounced back on the walls. Whoever it was that was responding to me definitely didn't want to be known.
I kept walking down the hallways, some parts seemed familiar, others didn't seem familiar.
I heard bells ring, laughter from small children filled the area. I was getting scared.
"Zara..." I heard my name being called by someone who sounded like Kai.
"Kai... " I called out too.
"Is that you?"
"Where are you?"
I still couldn't reach him.
"I'm locked up somewhere..." He said.
He didn't say if he was indeed Kai. I should really stop overthinking things.
"What do you mean locked up?" I questioned.
"Do you remember what happened in the last two days?" He retorted.
"Last two days?" I was lost in thoughts.
No matter how I tried to rack my head, I just couldn't remember anything.
"I'm losing memories again." I said.
Just then I saw two figures step into the hallway I was standing in.
"Mum.... Dad..." I called out as I recognized who the figures were.
"Oh Zara... You finally stepped out of where you had locked yourself inside." My dad said, giving me a fake smile.
"What is going on?" I asked.
"Where am I?"
"Oh... You're safe, hunny bunny." My mum responded as she loved closer to me.
Electricity zapped within me. My eyes felt like they were burning.
"Don't come any closer." I told them.
"Stop this rubbish, Zara." My mum said angrily, her voice now and echo os many wolves.
Something that seemed familiar to me. Something that sounded like me.
She moved closer to enter where I was standing when am unseen energy pushed her to a faraway hall. Her body shook in fear.
"Zara.... What did you do?" My father questioned.
"I... It's... It's... Not me." I said.
"Then who is it?" He hissed angrily.
"Don't use that tone on me." Someone said.
Not just anybody... My wolves....
I didn't know what to do. My eyes began to flicker... I was angry... And quite unstable at the moment.
"Zara.... Zara... Zara..." I heard my name being called.
I was shifting between alternate dimensions. One moment I was in the hallway with my parents, the next I wa with Kai in the study, next minute I was seeing Dr. Voss saying something about carrying out operations on me, then I was back in my dorm room.
"Subject Night is unstable." I heard someone say.
Hospital sterilized syringes filled the air. It made me want to puke. My sense were slowly being gathered. I blinked twice to get used to the environment I had found myself in.
"You're awake." I heard a man say to me.
He was dressed in white with a sethescope hung loosely around his neck.
"Where am I?" I questioned.
"The medical facility." He responded with a soft smile.
"I don't pay you to make small talks with our patients." Dr. Voss said as she dragged the man away from you.
"Welcome back Zara." She said to me.
That's when I noticed that I was tied to the table. There was no escaping whatever this was.
"Don't worry... You won't be able to break through this bars." She said tapping on the chains that held me bound.
"How are you doing?" She asked.
"I don't know how I am feeling." I responded.
"Ohh.... Give me a better response." She said.
"What am I doing here?" I questioned.
"You acted out of character." She said.
Then I felt the pinge of something prickly on my skin. Fuck!!!! It hurt so much. I felt tears drip down from my eyes.
"I need you to relax." She ordered.
"What did you inject into my system." I asked.
"Oh darling... You'll find out soon." She responded.
My eyes began to close as they were too heavy with sleep. Oh! A sleeping pill! Maybe when I'm awake I'll be out of this hell hole I happened to find myself in.
Why then... Did I find myself in the study where Kai left me in.
But this time... Kai was handing me over to Dr. Voss.
