Chapter 44 The new guy
ZARA'S POV
The last thing I remember was seeing my parents step forward before the hallway became dark. When the lights came on again, they were gone like they had never been there. Even the air smelt normal, like no new scent had been caught. Kai on the other hand had no remembrance of my parents being around.
I hugged Kai for a short moment before stepping into my room, just after he had escorted me to my dorm.
"What's wrong?" Mira asked.
Apparently my mood has turned into a frowning gaze.
"You just seemed to be frowning, hence the question." She said.
I contemplated on the kind of response to give her.
"Nah... I'm good." I responded.
She just shrugged it off and continued typing things in her phone. I got rid of the clothes I had on as I prepared to lay on my bed and rest.
"There are new transfers in the academy." Mira said.
That piqued my interest. I sat up on my bed and turned to listen to what she was saying.
"And damnnn! They're so fine." She said.
"That's good news." I responded nonchalantly.
Deep down, I wanted to meet new faces. I wanted to associate with people now.
"Good news?" Mira asked.
"Yeahh.... Is there an issue?" I retorted.
"No... It's just... You have this overexcited look on your face." She said.
"Just be happy Mira." I responded.
We both lay back down on our beds. Mira resumed typing away on her phone while I closed my eyes and tried to get a bit of sleep before the first alarm.
The sun shone brightly in the room, getting rid of all sleep from my eyes.
"Arghhh! I hate mornings." I said in between yawns as I stretched my body to it's full length.
Mira chuckled slightly as she got out of bed. Just then, the first alarm rang. It was time to get ready for breakfast before proceeding to our classes.
"Good morning great students." Dr. Voss's voice came through the radio.
"We have new transfers in our academy and I've decided to make today a full networking day."
"Make use of this opportunity to get to know a lot of people and maybe find a potential mate."
He ended the last part with a bit of wicked chuckles. I smiled at that thought. Mira used the restroom first before I entered to carry out my business of the day. My hair was packed into a bun. I opted for the academy's black miniskirt with a red vest and black slippers.
"Why does it look like you want to seduce someone today?" I suddenly heard Luna's voice in the room.
I didn't realize she was talking to me so I turned to look at Mira. But Mira was just dressed in our regular PE uniforms.
"Oh!!! You were talking to me." I said.
"I just want to go for something simple."
"Simple is how Mira is dressing and nothing like yours " Luna snickered.
I just laughed out loud. Applying my lip gloss and grabbing my little purse, I headed to the cafeteria with my friends. On reaching the cafeteria, Rex and Kai joined us at our table.
"Hey... Good morning." Rex greeted.
"Good morning." I responded.
Kai moved closer to hug me and place a kiss on my forehead. I smiled at the affection. It felt good.
Soon enough, I felt eyes on my back.
"A new transfer seems to have eyes on you." Luna commented.
"It appears so." I responded.
I began to much through my breakfast. Once I was done, I stood up to locate the pair of eyes that had been on me throughout my breakfast.
Kai growled just as I connected my eyes with the new transfer.
"Possessive much!" I thought.
I walked over to the guy. He was tall, dark and handsome. He had this great aura around him and oh! did I say, he looked like a flier.
"Hello beautiful." He greeted.
I grabbed a seat besides him and sat down.
"Hey handsome." I responded.
I felt several pairs of eyes on me. Eyes that belonged to my group of friends.
"If eyes could kill... I suppose I'll be dead by now." He said.
"I'm Rico by the way."
"Zara." I introduced.
"Is Kai your boyfriend?" He suddenly asked.
"No... And how do you know his name?" I questioned, suddenly feeling wary of the guy.
"He's going to be the general Alpha soon. It's right that everyone knows his name." He replied.
That was right though.
"Could we hangout later in the day. Get to know each other more." He said.
"What are your expectations for this day?" I retorted.
"Make good friends." He responded.
"So.... You're not looking for a mate?" I questioned.
"Beautiful... I'm not ready to be committed for life to someone. And when that time comes, I plan to be faithful." He said in kne go
"So until then, why not just enjoy what we are doing."
With that, he placed a kiss to my lips before standing up from his chair. In a very quick motion, he was thrown to the ground.
"Don't you ever touch her again." Kai ordered.
Oops! I felt bad for Rico. But now, I was pissed with Kai.
I pushed Kai away slightly, throwing him a glare as I rushed over to Rico's side. I helped him stand up as he soar blood from his lip to the ground. He gave Kai a wicked and surprisingly tempting smile. Kai was burning with anger and Rico was just fueling his anger and jealousy.
Rico held on to my waist as a means of air to fully find his foot on the ground.
"Till she says she's yours you better put that possessiveness in check!" Rico said annoyingly.
Kai turned to face me. I just shaked my head sideways.
"I'm done with this." I said to the both of them as I let Rico sit on a chair before walking out of the cafeteria.
I felt Kai following me.
"What the fuck was that about?" He asked angrily.
"Keep your thoughts to yourself Kai." I responded angrily.
"If I need someone to fuck me... I can find them myself. Stop making it seem like I belong to you."
"You became mine when you have yourself to me." He said and with that he pushed me roughly to a walk and grabbed my lips in a fierce kiss.
Just then, red lights painted our ways.
