Chapter 12 First Class
ZARA'S POV
I woke up to blue lights shining in my shared room with Mira. I took a peek outside to realize that we were still in the early hours of the morning. Then I noticed the blue holographic prints on the glass walls in front of her table.
"Who the fuck are you?"
"What's that?"
"Are you sent to watch me?"
I questioned angrily thinking that I had once again been betrayed.
"Shh... You'll wake up everyone in this hall." She responded nonchalantly.
"I'm a wolf tech remember. I'm trying to see what this academy is actually made of."
"It's like every other wolf academy... — I paused.
"Isn't it?"
At that point, I had begun to question everything about the academy. What was this academy meant to do to the wolfs here? Why did my parents drop me off here. What sas really going on?
She looked at me for a second before heaving a breath.
"Same thing I thought actually till I started hacking into their system." She replied.
"Look at this holographic prints..."
She pointed at the blue holographic prints that I had come across for a couple of times now.
"These are marks. Codes... I don't know how to explain without you knowing anything about technology."
"You do know something about tech right?"
I cast a furtive glance around the room before nodding my head. I paid attention to a lot of things while I was an Omega even though I wasn't supposed to do that.
"So... This codes are leading to a blocked passage. Error 455!"
"It's getting futile to pass through the block because it comes with a lot of codes to deactivate."
I looked at the codes. Maybe j would know what they meant, like other times.
I poimted towards one of the codes.
"Subject files." I said
"Recordings of facility."
I couldn't understand other stuffs written in the codes.
"How do you know what they meant?" Mira asked curiously.
"I don't know... It just seemed like I knew those two things." I responded truthfully.
"Well! That's a good lead." She said giving me a small smile.
"You should return to bed. You've got a long day ahead."
"How do you know that?" I asked.
"Because Voss said so?" She responded as she returned back to her techie devices.
"How do you know Kai?" I asked hoping to catch her off guard.
"I work for Voss now."
"And Kai happens to be a puppet in whatever game she's playing at." She said firmly.
"I need to figure out all this stuff. I need to stop whatever game she's playing at!" She mutters under her breath.
I feel she doesn't know that I've heard her because she doesn't give me any more attention. Mira seems harmless, so why doesn't Kai trust her.
"Maybe because he doesn't know what she really wants to do. Stopp Dr. Voss," My subconscious speaks to me.
"This codes signify only one thing." She says to herself.
"What may that be?" I ask.
"Whatever system this academy operates on is centuries ahead of anything on earth."
I don't know how to take that information or what to even do with it.
"Won't Dr. Voss know what you're up to?" I ask, quite curious.
"Who's going to tell?" She throws back, chuckling slightly.
"This room is untrackable."
"You can't hear anything from outside."
"And I replaced all Voss's camera from here to replay scenes that seem normal to the eyes."
"Kai can't track you. That's why he doesn't trust me." She said slowly.
"But that's his business. I refused to be caught until I find out what's up and fix it somehow."
"What do you mean by the scenes that seem normal..." I drifted hoping she would get my point and give me a response.
"When you sneak out to see Kai, Voss sees you sneaking out to enjoy fresh air." She responds chuckling slightly.
"I love playing with people's senses. That's why I'm a tech wolf."
"Thank you. I mean it." I thanked gratefuly.
"It's nothing really." She responded.
I yawned a bit, my signal to return to bed. I snuggled deeper into my duvet as I let sleep take over my body. I woke up to the sound of the morning alarm. Mira was already out of the room before I woke up. I suppose she went to run her duties for Voss.
I trusted Mira with no difficulty and that scared me a tad bit. I just finished freshening up when I heard a knock on our room door. I quickly dressed up before going to one up the door. There was no one at the door, just a small box and note pad signifying the classes I had to attend for the day.
My first class — Fighting Ghosts 101
It was the class where wolves would be attacked by ghost features and would have to fight for their lives to escape whatever it was that was attacking them. If you succeeded in passing that stage, you get a free day off from the academy. If you lost and got seriously wounded, you would keep practicing all night.
That brought chills running through my spine as goosebumps appeared on my skin. I rubbed my skin trying to bring heat to it. This class needed me to wear something normal that would help me carry out my job efficiently. I changed into a gym leggings with a black singlet. Tying my hair into a bun, I flung a towel around my neck and headed to class.
"It's good to have you here Miss Night."
The instructor greeted.
"Good morning Sir." I responded politely.
Apparently, I was early to class so I had to sit by the sidelines while waiting for other people to troop into the class. Soon enough the hal was filled with about thirty people.
"Arrange yourself in front of your row." The instructor barked out orders.
Just then Kai walked into the class, dressed in all black and exuding his alpha male aura.
"Nice to have you join us today Mr Storm." The instructor said shaking a bit.
He seemed afraid and that made me smile.
"I'm here to watch. We need new recruits in the combat team." He said.
He ran a hand through his hair as his gaze took me in. He threw a smirk my way before sitting on the pulpit to watch. My insides swooned in admiration but another part of me wanted to rip off heads of girls that were ogling him.
"Jealousy does suit you Subject Night." He said through our mind link.
I refused to respond to him.
The whistle blew and I got into a fighting stance. Sharp arrows from nowhere came at me. I dodged a few and cut a few using the sword that had been given to me. The attacks took a new torn, dummies appeared in form of humans with eyes hollow and bloodshot red. I wounded a few and cut off a few heads.
I had entered into a maze like field with glass walls all around. Then I saw red!!!! One of the girls that had been ogling Kai appeared in front of me through the glass walls. She had a wicked smile in her face.
"Come for me Omega." She taunted.
"You don't deserve to be here."
She brought out wolfsbane to withhold my wolf from being activated. But what she didn't know was that it made me stronger.
My wolf threatened to come out and I let it overpower my senses. The last thing I heard before the whistle was blown again signifying the end of the class was;
"Massacre. Take her to the dungeons."
