Chapter 77 Sandwiches.
Creed’s pov.
“Let’s do it then. Tell them to meet us outside,” Lily says while walking out of my office.
I sigh while placing my head in my hands, not sure what I can do to make her feel better.
‘Give her space. Sapphire said she just needs time, she’s confused right now. There’s a lot we don’t know,’ Hunter whispered before retreating into the back of my mind.
“Well…” Jason says awkwardly, “should we go? We could continue this later. I wanted to go speak to Ryan anyway.”
“Yeah,” I say waving him off, “go, I’ll call for you later.”
Midnight waved at me as they left my office. Leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I sat there for a while, just thinking about this war.
I’m still confused, who would want to go to war with us? And why?
I sigh again before letting Hunter take control for a moment, linking the entire tribe to meet outside in one hour.
‘Your majesty,’ I hear a young warrior whisper down our link.
‘Yes?’ I answer back.
‘The Queen has come outside, shall I watch over her?’ He asks.
‘Yes, but keep your distance. Don’t let her know you’re watching. Be careful, she’s smart. She’ll sense you from a mile away,’ I say before shutting the link down between us.
I lean back in my chair before this sinking feeling in my gut has me on edge.
I walk slowly towards my window and look outside.
What I see makes my heart drop into my stomach.
Virginia. She’s speaking to Lily.
“No, no, no!” I say to myself out loud.
As I’m about to run out of the office, Virginia looks up at me, giving me a sly smirk.
She slowly walks away from Lily now, leaving Lily with a sour look on her face.
I leave my office, running down the stairs as fast as I can.
I open the front door quickly, taking quick steps towards her. She’s also walking fast, getting farther and farther away.
I start to run now, needing to catch up with her. As soon as I could I grabbed her hand, turning her towards me.
“What did she say to you?” I ask quickly, looking into her eyes, which are full of tears.
“I know, okay. I shouldn’t have any right to be mad. You are allowed to have a history… it’s just- we’re together now,” she says with a shaky breath, “WERE mates. Why can’t they just leave us alone now? We’re happy… we don’t need all of this stuff that’s thrown at us. Can’t we just enjoy the time we have together? Who knows how much longer we have.”
She trails off at the end, looking at the ground, blinking her tears away.
“Whatever she said, it doesn’t matter. None of it is true. I didn’t do anything with her,” I whisper into her ear, pulling her flush against me. Her beautiful, pregnant belly pressed against me, little fluttering kicks pressing into me.
“Seriously?” She asks with a chuckle, wiping the tears off of her face.
“Seriously. She was… weird growing up. You could say she was my stalker. I was nice, turned her down gently, even told her she was beautiful but I wasn’t into anyone but my fated mate. She- didn’t take it too well,” I mumbled the last part, scratching the back of my head.
“What do you mean, she didn’t take it too well?” She asks curiously, making me sigh.
“She… threatened to kill herself, kill me even. I know she wouldn’t have been able to but she could’ve easily killed herself. She said she wouldn’t be able to live without me,” I start to say, trying to get to the point, “her parents sent her to a shifter mental institution. Where they assessed her having Erotomania. A mental condition. They begged me to let her come back to the tribe after she was released. As you can see, I said yes, on one condition. That she was not allowed to come anywhere near the tribe house, where I live.”
Lily lets out the breath she was holding and looks around us, “that’s crazy,” she whispers angrily, “she was giving me bad vibes the entire time we talked. I don’t like her Creed. We need to do something about her.”
I hang my head sadly, “I know.”
Taking Lily's hand I led her back towards the tribe house, wanting so desperately to have some time to ourselves.
“Do you want to hang out in our room tonight?” I ask her, “I could make some food, bring up some drinks. Maybe some popcorn?”
She gives me a toothy grin and laughs, “yes! That sounds absolutely perfect right now. I would love to.”
I laughed along with her all the way back to our room, unable to help myself.
“Just get comfortable. I’ll bring everything up, no need to worry,” I say while kissing her forehead, “pick a movie to watch!”
I close the door behind me and walk back downstairs with a smile on my face.
Opening the cupboards in the kitchen I look around and find popcorn quickly, grabbing the bag and placing it on the counter.
Opening the fridge I ran everything to make sandwiches and make them up quickly. I add cheese, lettuce, turkey breast, thin slices of tomato and mayo on top.
Placing them onto a plate, I push them aside with the popcorn and open the fridge; looking for something Lily can drink.
“Here,” Glenda’s voice says behind me, startling me slightly.
I turn around and see that she’s holding a bag towards me, “you scared the shit out of me. Why can’t I smell your scent?” I ask while taking the bag from her and peaking inside.
It’s filled with all different types of teas and juice.
I nod my head in acknowledgment while Glenda smiles softly.
“It’s a power I mastered with time. Not many witches can do it,” she says.
“Noted,” I mutter back, looking towards the stairs, “I can’t stay, I gotta get back to her.”
“Go. Be with your mate,” she says with a smile, waving me towards the door.
I smile back, grabbing the sandwiches and popcorn before going back to my mate.
