Chapter 29 Who Are You?
Lily's pov.
Walking down these old, raggedy stairs has my chest feeling tight. My mother, she’s down here.
When we finally get to the bottom I can hear voices, “shut up! Shut up! Just shut up!” Somebody screams so loud my ears are ringing.
“Please, Ethan. Do whatever you want to me, just please make Danny leave my daughter alone,” my mother begs this man named Ethan.
“I said, shut up! You think he’ll listen to me? Danny Further listens to nobody but himself,” the man named Ethan scoffs.
I hear the sound of a whip biting into flesh and the sounds of my mothers soft whimpers. I have to clench my teeth to hold back Sapphire’s growl, we’ll kill them all for torturing my mother.
Hiding in the shadows, we wait for the basement to clear out. When the man, Ethan and a few other shifters that I’m assuming are his guards leave, Creed, Raya and I start moving quickly towards my mothers cell.
“Mother!” I whisper yell at her.
Her head whips up so fast when she hears my voice, “Lily!” She gasps, “you need to get out of here, you shouldn’t have come here!”
“I couldn’t abandon you, mother. I’m stronger than you think, I’m saving you. We need to hurry!” I speak quickly.
Using my magic, I quickly unlock my mothers cell and discard the metal chains holding her down. Grabbing her hands I helped her stand on her wobbly legs, guiding her out of the cell.
“We need to go the way we came, we can’t get lost in this building.” Creed suddenly says.
“Who is he?” My mother whispers in my ear.
I feel my cheeks heat up and a small smile takes over my face, “he’s my fated mate, mother.”
My mothers face lights up and she’s silent for a while, by the time we make it up the stairs she still hasn’t said anything.
“I’m happy for you, Lily. Now let’s get out of here, as a family,” she pauses and smiles, “ And I haven’t forgotten about you, Rayali. Thank you for risking your life to help save mine”
“It is an honour to be a part of your family,” Creed says to my mother with a small smile.
She smiles motherly at him, cupping his cheek with her hand, “you can call me, mom.”
Creed's whole face lights up at her words, unshed tears try to make their way out of his eyes, but he’s quick to wipe them away. “I’m sorry. You don’t know how much that means to me.”
“Don’t be sad, child. Everything happens for a reason,” my mother says, smiling lovingly at Creed.
As they are chit chatting, Raya and I have been scoping out the place, making sure we don’t run into anyone.
It’s just so eerily quiet, something's not right.
“Let’s hurry, something's not right. Sapphires on edge,” I say quietly, scanning the area, senses on high alert.
We all quickly make it to the end of the hall, where the door that we came in is. Grabbing the handle I twist it open bursting out into the night.
“Well hello, daughter,” a dark voice says, making my skin crawl.
I turn my head in the direction of that god awful voice, what I’m met with turned my blood cold. The exact spitting image of me, except a man. But I guess you’d say I’m a spitting image of him, because he’s my father.
Creed steps forward growling lowly at him, putting a protective arm in front of me. “Danny Further,” Creed states. It’s not a question.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” Danny says with a smug smirk on his face. laughing he says, “a mate?”
I stiffen slightly but don’t let my composure slip. “We’re here for my mother, and we’re leaving,” I say, sounding strong even if I’m in this wicked situation.
Laughing loudly he says, “daughter of mine. Did you really think I’d let you get away so easily?”
My heart feels like it’s about to beat out of my chest, I knew this moment would come, when I had to kill my father. I just didn’t know it was going to be so soon.
“I won’t let you stop us,” I say, with authority in my tone.
“What are you..” he drawls on his sentence, “a mere witch, gonna do?”
Sapphire growls so loud it almost slips out of my mouth.
‘Down girl, he can’t know about you,’ I say softly to her.
She doesn’t say anything but I can feel her anger. It’s only fueling mine.
“Blood or not, you’re not going anywhere. Guards, put them in the cells,” he says casually. Dusting invisible lint off of his pants.
His followers start closing in on us, dragon, wolves, witches and panthers. Almost every kind of shifter, he has been busy gathering followers.
Raya shifts into her wolf form at lightning speed, tearing out someone’s throat. I don’t give anyone time to react, summoning two large fireballs, one in each hand I hurl them towards the closest warriors, burning them to nothing but ashes. My mother starts using her magic also, joining in on the fight to freedom. Creed also wastes no time in fighting, shifting into his dragon form to have an advantage.
I use my magic to put two werewolves in a chokehold, they’re in their wolf form trying to subdue me, without killing me. Making it easy to kill them.
They whine before dropping to the ground, lifeless. I move onto my next kill, making a path towards Danny. I look into his eyes and he has a trace of astonishment on his face, making my stomach twist in knots.
I look towards my mother, she has just sent a shifted dragon into a tornado, making him an easier kill for Creed. Creed sends his dragon's breath into the tornado lighting him on fire until he dies.
I look towards Raya quickly and spot her fighting three werewolves, by herself. I’m so close to getting to Danny but I can’t let her die, running in her direction I slide across the ground going underneath the one shifted wolf's stomach, tearing it to shreds with my dragon claws. The other two wolves are stunned leaving an opening for Raya to slit their throats. As soon as they die I’m off, back in the direction Danny is.
He has a smug smile on his face, as if he knows he’s won.
“Raya, take my mother and go,” I yell at her, “now!”
She looks like she’s going to protest but one look from me has her running in my mothers direction.
“No! I won’t leave you, Lily!” My mother cries out, Raya looks at me but keeps dragging my mother away, into the forest towards home.
“Take her to Creeds tribe!” I yell at her as a dragon shifter comes towards me, a shit eating grin on his face.
“Well, well. The infamous daughter. You’ve been a naughty girl, it’s time you were taught a lesson,” he says with a cocky grin on his face.
I quickly looked in the direction Raya was taking my mother and put a protection spell on them. I know in my heart my mother is strong enough to penetrate those wards.
“How about you show me how good you are at-“ he begins to say, but before he can finish I throw a fireball directly at his face. Before I even know what’s happening he’s blocking it with his arm searing it black. He just smiles before his skin grows back on his arm.
I look at him in horror, My eyes widen and Sapphire's speechless in my mind, what the actual fuck was that.
I look up and see Creeds in a battle with two dragon shifters that stand no chance against him.
“Did you know,” the shifter I’m fighting starts saying, “that I’m your brother?”
