Chapter 112 Epilogue the end
EPILOGUE
Lily’s pov.
“You guys got this! You’ll be fine!” I say to my children as they get ready for their first shift.
“I don’t know, mom…” Juniper whispers nervously, biting her fingernails as she looks up at me, “I’m… scared.”
“I’m scared too!” Mazikeen and Athena said in unison, their faces pale as they stared at me.
“We’ll be fine!” Maddox chuckles and he hugs each one of his sisters tightly.
I smile at him, loving how caring and close they all are to each other.
They all look at one another, nodding their heads while having a silent conversation between each other.
Creed comes up from behind me.
His scent invading my nose, making those familiar butterflies erupt in my belly.
A smile comes onto my face as I turn my head slightly to look up at him.
“They’re scared,” I whisper, watching our quads smile and laugh with each other as they wait for their shifts to come.
“They’ll be fine. They’re strong,” he whispers back, squeezing my shoulders reassuringly.
Just as Maddox opens his mouth to say something he drops to the ground, screaming in pain.
I go to run to him but Creed stops me.
“Don’t. He needs to shift on his own, you could hurt him more than help him if you touch him!” he says quickly, holding me back tightly.
Tears fell from my eyes at the pain etched onto my son's face.
“My baby boy…” I mumble through my sobs, my hands covering my mouth as I watched him helplessly.
“Mommy?” My youngest daughter, Rosalie, says to me in a scared voice.
I look down at her and smile through my tears, “it’s okay, baby. Your brother is fine… come here,” I say while picking her up and holding her close.
Maddox continues to groan and scream out in pain.
His bones crack and reshape, trying to take the form of his dragon.
He lets out a guttural scream, mixed with a growl from his dragon.
He’s so close to the surface… his shift should be finished any minute now.
Black smoke starts to swirl around him, a smug smirk on Creed’s face as he watches Maddox shift in pride.
When I look back towards him he’s standing there in all of his black dragon's glory.
So similar to his fathers dragon…
He let out a powerful roar. Shaking the trees around us, causing birds to scatter away.
He flaps his wings playfully at his sisters, making each of them giggle as they look at him in astonishment.
Creed was quick to shift into Hunter, joining his son.
Hunter growled playfully at him before he took off to the sky, Maddox trying to follow him.
I laugh before focusing back on my girls, waiting for their shift to come.
Mazikeen grunts before she falls to the ground next.
Her arms wrapped around herself as she tried to hold herself together.
“Don’t hold back, Maze. Let it happen, let your dragon guide you!” I called out to her, seeing her visibly struggling.
She grits her teeth while trying to relax her body, trusting my words.
Orange smoke swirls around her… making my eyes widen in shock.
I’ve never seen an orange dragon before…
I bet she’ll be beautiful.
Before I know if she’s standing in front of me in her orange dragon’s form.
She has bright golden eyes, and sharp wings like her father.
She flaps her wings at me, the wind blowing my hair around.
I laugh while smiling up at her, so proud of my baby girl.
“You’re beautiful!” I yelled out to her, her dragon’s eyes shining at my words.
She turns around before trying to catch up with her father and brother.
Leaving Juniper and Athena to shift.
Juniper holds Athena’s hand while they wait together.
Her eyes closed as if she was praying to the goddess.
Athena gasps as she lets go of Juniper’s hand, falling to her knees as her shift starts to take over.
She screams, louder than any of the other children did.
Her voice echoed across the field we were in.
“Baby!” I shout, gaining her attention, “trust your dragon! Let them come to the front, let them have control. It’ll make it easier, less painful…”
She nods her head once before she closes her eyes, green smoke swirling around her.
I gasped as I watched her, a beautiful green dragon standing before me.
“Wow,” Rosalie says quietly, staring at her older sister's emerald green dragon.
She had bright green eyes, so similar to her human eyes…
Her scales shone beneath the sun, reflecting off like diamonds.
Her dragon purred while she watched me, a smile taking over my face again.
I walked towards her, reaching my hand out and running it along her rough scales…
She roared before taking off to the sky, her speed unlike anything I’ve seen before.
She caught up to her sister and brother fast, my eyes widening in astonishment.
That must be one of her powers…
Just as I started to get into my head I heard Juniper sobbing.
I turned my head towards her quickly, my face morphing into confusion…
“Mom?” She says quietly, looking up at me with tear filled eyes, “what about me? I- I don’t think I have a dragon…”
